Man, this Diesel Dog is a LOT better than I first thought. A LOT. The first couple of days it was rather "blah" for what I usually expect from CCF, good but not great. It looked and smelled great, but it's just now that the taste has really opened up. It reminds me of the NLXSS in that respect. Amazing flavors.
My bottom line on this whole ratings thing is that it is worthless IMO, for many reasons. This isn't like wine, which is the closest archetype of judging that I can think of (and is actually a recognized testing matrix) for several reasons.
Some kind of REAL standard needs to be figured out for our situation. I stand by my assertion that there is NO way the Urkel OG is a 90-91. Because the bottom line is, in technical marks, you cannot get much better, so let's give the technical score of 98. Then you throw in subjective aspects, and those would have to be somewhere in the 80's to balance out the deserved high technical marks. No way. No way.
But in looking at it, before I go after the reviewers, I'm going to go after the scale.
I refuse to follow and believe in this grading scale. It is flawed. I am an Oenophile, and I know my palate and it's capabilities. Just because somebody grows, or has been around weed in no way makes them an acceptable judge. You can grow wine, GREAT wine even, and have a rudimentary tongue. Most people genetically are NOT going to be able to pick up what I can. I can point stuff out to some who can taste it, just as things get pointed out to me (one of the greatest joys of wine right there) BUT the bottom line is that most people won't smell what I smell or taste what I taste to the degree that I do. So almost any judging is worthless to me, and really to anyone else.
Again, I NEVER asked to be a judge at any public event. I wouldn't even do that for money. I questioned a system and was basically told, "Hey dude, you're wrong, and to prove it, we'll get this group of guys together and once again, we will TELL you what the deal is".
Because that's what's going to happen right? Once again, we will get TOLD what the deal is. And that's unacceptable.
The system is worthless and flawed and is a worthless business model. period.
Peace to you all.

I loved that diesel dawg too... it was excellent but came across very subtle in all aspects... taste, appearance, etc. Subtle but strong, like I was saying earlier...
I don't think this challenge is gonna go down anyway... not right now at least. I was in last night and Bryan didn't have any Purple OG... not sure if he saved any for this challenge as it was probably gone awhile ago. I don't care as I don't really see the point...

I have some personal urkle og, but the fact is im really not intrested in any competition. Our patients know our quality and that is why we have the reputation we do. I dont need someone to tell me that I grow high grade medicine, because my patients tell me every day. Not to mention urkle og is just another strain in the amazing line up that we maintain here @ CCF:jointsmile:

Yeah, no kidding. If we had a contest where a dispensary had to throw out 10 strains of their OWN personally grown herb and we took the composite scores and put it together, it would be like when the Broncos and Niners met in that one Super Bowl.
I was NEVER interested in a competition. I was interested in exposing flaws and inconsistencies with the whole ratings system, and I believe I did. I have to throw in here that I often have some of my SUPER educated friends read what I write and I ask them for critiques while considering the forum and audience. So when somebody says that my arguments are weak or anything to that degree, I check with those who are recognized experts in their fields, and all around brilliant people to begin with. I'm not a smart dude, but I LOVE listening to smart people. I'm comfortable with this.
All I ask for is a chance to check a person's claims. You can check mine. Weed may be subjective, and I've only been smoking the BEST on a regular basis for about 4 months, but wine is not. I'll put my pallete out there for the testing, we choose a top notch restaurant with a sommelier, and I'll taste any blind lineup of a red flight and we'll let the expert tell us what is and isn't. If the expert backs what I say about my ability to smell and taste, Dinner and a $100 bill are on me. If he says I'm bunk, it goes the other way. It's the fairest test of flavor/smell judging that I can think of. So I'll pit my money where my mouth is. I ask all who would debate to do the same. Talk is cheap.
Hey B, I'm hoping to be in on Saturday, I got ANOTHER job, and it's gone nuts. But that 2nd job just means more money for
And lampost, hit me with an email. I have some things I'd like to talk about offline. Which has nothing to do with KR or anything of that nature.
peace.

If not for yourself, do it for others. At least then other people can see what high grade medicine is SUPPOSED to look like. Hopefully the competition will cause an increase in overall quality. I think a lot of people just dont know what A+ medicine really is.

Well like I said I will be hosting the Colorado Connoisseur's Cup, I havent set a date yet, but were most likely looking at late august / early november. I dont just toss together any event, so when we plan something not only does everything come together, but its not a stress doing so.
This way we can let the patients of colorado choose. No strains will have names, everything will be labeled by a numerical and alphabetical system, and all strains will be labeled in private, so that there is no secret motives or hidden intentions. No dispensaries or growers will be allowed to advertise at or around the event.
This is purely about great medicine. Not about hype, not about names, not about promotions or anything like that, all that tends to do is dirty the fine name of cannabis.
My only intentions of putting this on (besides the fact I love to host parties) is to find strains and growers that are better than what I have or what I can do. The only reason I can cultivate the herb I do is from years of watching, learning, reading, growing, and trading genetics. I have met many life long friends at events such as these, and it is a wonderful social gathering for folks who wouldn't otherwise have met.
We will be forging on full force for the Nov. Connoisseurs Cup. Any other growers or dispensaries that are intrested can speak with me when it gets closer to date. I know id like to have 5-10 of my most prized genetics to enter, and im sure many will feel the same way.
