Hope it's not critical to my next move...

If it was, it didn't help much.:DQuote:

Aloha W.
Hey, I know of a change in plans so ya don't hafta explain that. Sorry to hear that news.
Sorry about the move, too... s/b QB2.
Rare for me to be home to enjoy NYE with my fambly instead of attempting to stay sober and dealing with the ethanol-impaired masses. So I will be savoring just hanging out here at home.
Got some homebrewed mead spiked with an ethanol ticture of decarboxylated resin.Quote:

Skyrockets, mortars, monster fountains!
I stay sober on the full, blue, moon and keep my water hoses handy.
But come midnight.
I dance in the street like a 10 year old.:giggity::woohoo::yippee:

Dangerous, but exhilerating.

Drat!
Looking back, that pawn is on your Kn3.
Nevermind.
I was tempted then to trade for your bishop.
He's your strongest piece at the moment.
Then remembered that I was demonstrating/playing-with, a "Knight's dance"
Get both sides to stable positions, then send in a knight to lay waste.:D
So, getting on with it.
N - KB7
Annoying your rook.
The continueation is not obvious, nor carved in stone, but, it looks like R -R2 is the safest move.
(When I examine the other choices, they all lose the rook in the next 3 moves.)
So, assuming;
R - R2,
I'd have to say N - K5, threatening your pawn.
Your rook can not cover the pawn from R2, so you'd have to move N - KB5.
'cept, if you do, I'll move P - KN3 to force his hand.
You will then see what looks like a brilliant move;
N - R 4!? interposing himself to block the protecting rook.
Then I parry, with N - KN4 to protect the pawn. and...
Or, not.
Howzit look to you?
This could all be rubbish, I did imbibe 4 beers, (That's 2 over my limit), then scarfed 5 magic cookies tonight.
Sobered me up!
I feel quite lucid, actually.
Oh, well, I'll jus' stuff dis pretty new pipe what my dollink gave me.
HNY!
The fireworks were impressive this year.
Lotsa very illegal stuff.
Not even woozy, Weeze
And a happy one to you and yours, as well. :hippy:
Moving along, I'd continue with N x P, threatening your rook (for a change). :D
I'm dismayed by how much better I play in absentia. :(
OK, well done!
R - R3
Move it or lose it.:)
I'm amazed that I can play at all with 4 beers, 3 pipes, and 5 cookies.
Woke to da burping o da churds.
Hopped out of bed, clear headed, (or so it seems.)
Prolly jus' "over da line", but I feel sharp and focussed.
Still, that's quite subjective.
I'll go get the breathalyzer fron da car and see if it thinks I'm drunk.
Nope! 0.0!
Think I'll attempt the NYT crosswords and see if I can beat my best time.
Sounds objective enough.
All that action and I only lost a pawn? Dang!
Nice dance.
Now you lead.:rastasmoke:
Aloha,
It's 2010, do you know where your head is at?:D

Apparently not; I thought I moved already. :rastasmoke:Quote:

Yo' HMR! Where you be at?
Had the oddest N.Y.E. ever.
Downed 2 lagers in a half hour,
That normally gets my car keys'
(So, I'm a lightweight lush, so sue me, I'm also a cheap date:D)
This time, nada!:(
Hmmm, packed da pipe with "mornin' weed.
(That should have had me babbling out 40 year old memories.)
Zip!
:wtf:
Long to'ed evenin',
I said,
pups is fed, I'm paid ahead,
of gettin' high, I am no sked
guess it's time to feed my head.
Ate 5 magic cookies!
2 hours later, still waitin'.
Tired of waiting, broke out da hash.
Li'l dab'll do ya, so I shaved up a big dab!
Nice buzz, kinda.
Not really feeling it:confused:
:wtf:
Been 4 hours and I'm not planning on driving, so, 2 more beers.
A bowl of WW, a bowl of G13/BB, and I'm still feelin' Sunday sober.:wtf:
<sigh>
Went to da vault, and unshackled the HI Homie III.
The-one hit thunderfuck edition!
Rolled an' smoked a fattie.
So, why can I still walk, and think straight?:wtf::wtf:
Hmm, perhaps I can't.
Could jus' be beer goggles.
Went next door to watch my neighbors fireworks display through the eyes of his 3 year old. (Bes' way!)
He offered me a beer.
No wanna be rude so, 5 beers.
Still feeling no effect.:wtf:
OK, I say. "Mus' be me."
An' old Fugs tune rattling in my head "Couldn't get high".
Logged in and found a new move here and said,
OK, now V shell C!
The next 4 moves were so obvious and easy that I figured I must be very drunk, and am actually hosing this game.
Not so, even made a pawn sacrifice with a 4 move payback!
Ok, that proves naught.
Grabbed a NYT crossword puzzle for an objective function test.
Was even easier than usual. :wtf:
3:00 a.m not the least bit tired.
Had to will myself to sleep 'cause I was still havin' fun and still clear headed.
Woke around 8 feelin' great.
Uncharacteristic.
I don't usually "do" mornings.
Felt sharp and lucid!
Grabbed the paper and did da crosswords.
They were laughably easy.
Not complaining, mind you.
Except for not feeling stoned, it's a state of mind that I'd like to encourage.
The only thing I did differently New Years Eve was to try 13g. of Salvia hispanica, (Chia), seeds in the morning.
My Holistic friend gave me a large bag and said it's supposed to aleviate, <sic>, inflammation.
Though it makes no such claim on the bag.
Actually all the bag says is it's "The worlds healthiest whole food".
I'm about to try another scoop today.
Can't possibly be that good for you, don't taste bad enough.
I'll keep ya posted.
Wondering Wee Zard
Well, I'da bought a sacka that feed to try meself but it's not that easy to find around here. Lotsa Omega 3's, etc. Looks like it's fittin' to get pop-marketed though, like acai was couple years ago, so then maybe it'll be more widely available here(?) It's like, what, $25/lb or so?
Beer goggles, huh? If I ever feel that good I'm just having a manic swing. :D
Ima go P - QN4
Hey, Mac! Happy New Year!
You looked it up, yah?
No can find?
No bodder.
I'll test it for ya.
Got mine fo' free.:)
Just scarfed a nudder scoop.
In a half cup hot water.
Added milk and sugar.
Tastes kinda like a mixture of Instant Ralston and Farina.
That was 2 hours ago and I feel "sober" again.
:wtf:'s in dis stuff?
Might just be my personal chemistry, it is quite odd.
Hmmm, this could be very handy.
Some folks don't like the "side effects" of our meds.
Dem folks ain't me.
But, still, there are occasions...
Can't wait to get invited to a game of stoner poker.;)
N - KB6
That gives you two problems.
One immediate, one festering.
Either way, I'm looking to steal a rook.:)
Dance li'l horsie, dance.

My computer is failing. Thassallright, I gotta get a Mac to run some stuff that's only for Mac, anyway. I guess I'll just gotta get it set up to run both platforms. But this one's hard to keep running. I still have Word 97 on it. :hippy:

If it's that old, Wurd97, then a rigorous internal dusting and a CMOS battery replacement are in order, yah?
The coin cells only last 3 to 5 years.
Time to replace da cpu fan as well.
Symptoms?:detective1:
Wee
yea i gott a old mac aka 'maclamp'...
worst idea a great company ever came up wid..
thing is slower than pouring that cold molasses into the watering can!!
but i gotta give em it always starts and rarely stops when i dont tell it to.. it just takes forever to get where i tell it to go :wtf:
but at a hundo how can one complain??

Already cleaned. I've always run it with the side panel removed from the case for ventilation, too.Quote:

I see that coin cell in there, looks like it may be soldered in place, but that won't stop me... :pimp: What does that battery do besides keep an internal clock going? If I replace it, what'll I have to reset besides the time...what valuable might be lost is the real question, I guess. (I can hot-swap it if that's necessary.)
When I looked at CPU coolers as a possible LED platform it became clear there's a new generation (or three) of stuff out there. Nothing readily available to replace this part with, that I saw around. And the local parts-hoarder repair guy's closed his shop. But I'll be able to hear the blissful silence if that fan croaks, so not an immediate worry.
Symptoms...Well, about a month ago I started getting a "cannot find login.exe" dialog box when it starts up (I guess that's a monolog box :D), but I can just push through that and it runs okay. Freezes up a tad more frequently than usual, but still workable. Trying to keep multiple apps open is a bitch, though--runs slow and glitchy.
Within the last 3 days or so, though, it's been shuting itself off, suddenly, and restarting. When it comes back it's got a "Your system has recovered from a serious error" with some available codes, looks like short hexadecimal strings. Can probably save the message somehow...
Also see the "blue screen of death" flash on-and-off too quickly to read as the thing's crashing. Doesn't look good, though.
Happens generally after it's been running a few hours, maybe thermal's a factor(?) Cooler ambient operating conditions lately, though, thanks to the nippy weather.
I remember upgrading the RAM years ago, from half to a gig (total), and this motherboard won't take any more, seems like the shop that sold me the memory thought I was silly to 'waste' it in this machine back then.
But getting a Mac's (laptop) gonna be inevitable, just cause of the program I need to run. It's not like I've ever been nuts for the PC platform...but I've never used a Mac. But how bad can it be, comparitively?
You gotta pick between the (newer) Macbook or the (older release) Macbook Pro?
K - QN3
my :twocents: the older pro will last you longer.. they were made of better materials if i remember correctly... and I dont trust new shit...

I checked the C drive as you suggested. It verified files, indexes, and security descriptors then the "usn journal." (My computer's full of seamen )But how do you slow down the scrolling info? I was able to pick out the words "allocation" and "free bits/bytes" but it was gone in a flash.
Then this slow-ass thing just fired up like usual. The one time it actually runs fast...
No fan on the video card. Seems like I had a glitchiness that somebody said, "Ahh, yer video card's prolly goin' out," like a year ago, but now I can't remember what that problem was...The heatsink on the video processor is warm, but not screamin' hot. It's definitely not catching much air movement, whether the case is assembled or not. I should probably put a loose fan in there.

And did it still not find Login.exe?
I'm pretty sure I've got the original discs for Windows. They hadda lotta service paks and such patched on over the years, though. I actually have XP on this though. Musta been like a early Beta version. :D
