PS3 vs. Xbox 360

personally... I kinda think they(xbox 360 Wii PS3) all suck... I find Wii fun but I really dont play it that much and i could see how it could get boring... However, more scripted lines is not exactly what I would call innovation...
I've kinda realized that I look like an asshole for arguing over something that really is just a simple case of personal choice which only the purchaser can make correctly... so i appologize

soooooooo..... WTF IS CROSSPLAYER? as far as i know here's only single and multiplayer... what else can there be? playing by yourself (or with computers) or playing with other players (also can be with computers) ....?

how about you just tell me what exactly is so good about it... o.0 cuz all i can find is 'crossplayer'

oh yeah... i don't tend to argue over shit like this either... but it's a natural response to people just perpetuating what they hear other people say, instead of looking at cold hard facts... much like the govt. has alot of people doing with weed (among other things)

the crossplayer idea in the crossing is basically that while you are playing through your single player campain when the game needs to include AI character enemies it sends out an invite to people playing multiplayer skirmishes online to come join your single player game as these enemy players.. they are however still overmatched by you just like a comp player would be. Apparently there will be rewards for playing as the bad guys in other players SP campains to encourage people to do this...I just find this to be an awesome idea and im really excited to be able to play in someone elses single player campain

hm.... well that's not completely new.... i mean the idea of being the enemies in a single player campaign is kinda... but re online (dunno what it was called, but i remember him telling me that when you die on the game you can become a zombie and start attacking the players... tho this was really early, before it was actually even out (a couple of weeks from release) so it may not be true... but he seemed to of had alot of info pointing to this... becuase he had heard other rumors he didn't give credit to, this he gave alot of credit to... kinda like everyone already knew this somehow.. i dunno how to explain it.. o.0)

with that said... if what he told me is true then the idea behidn it isn't entirely new to gaming, if it is false, it's not something new to everyone, just no one's put it in a game until now...

still sounds awesome tho....

true there may be other forms similar but i find the whole system (picking players out of DM games online) really cool... w/e could be awesome or jsut a gay marketing ploy lol time will tell

i'll be keeping an eye on it, sounds intresting...

like taking the whole single player campaign type shit to a whole new level, instead of just pre-programmed functions (even some of the 'high tech AI' they're putting in games now still makes you feel like you're playing a retard...) you got people who can think, and use the enviroment to their advantage (aside from ducking down under vehicles for a shot or peeking around corners, or crouching behidn a short wall....)

i dunno how well that'll work tho... multiplayer campaign? maybe... but going against a bunch of other people and trying to be rambo LOL... well tha'ts gonna make the game last a good damn long time to say the least... (actually that's prefered, i hate getting a game and 2 days later being done with it... it's really fucking annoying, even the hardest games i have done... makes me really wonder why i don't rent anymore... wtf is the point in continuing to buy a 50$ or so game if it doesn't have online play (like BLACK) if it's going to out live is' ussage in 3 or so days...)

Well slipknot I read some of your, rather... long posts about such a topic and want to ask why is it so bothersome? If the kid says the 360 pwns the ps3 let him talk whatever he wants just like the little annoying kids with mic's on the internet...

Im also quite outa it too, but it seems while yet equal you seem to not like the xbox and the 360. I dont see how payin for online service is bad, its 50$ a year. Full membership and everything. And ive NEVER had any problems with the servers. Half the games on the 360 dont even have servers they pick the hostee of the game and essentially make them the 'host' and play off their connection. And seein as the Ps3 costs 200$ more then the 360 thats four years of Xbox Live. And im sure in another 3 years there will be a newer/bigger thing. And im satisfied as fuck with the 360 features (online)

Private Chat, messaging, very in-depth stats in game and on websites, invite games, compare games, and the Feedback/Rep system works awsome, xbox arcade and the Marketplace is outstanding. I dont know what the Ps3 has but I dont hear anything as the 360's online system.

And you say that a good reason why the 360 is doin better is its been out 'forever', for one its been a year and 3 months and that is not a long period of time at all. And I dont see why havin the 360 dealt out first has any negative effect in this debat. If anything it shows that microsoft knew what it was doing and shelled out somthin just as good as Ps3 in less time. And if anything that extra year should of added more 'hype' to the system. Instead more got lured into the 360 with the good reviews.

Yea the Ps3 may have some good games comin out but the 360 is just gona match it (Halo 3, Brothers in Arms, Halo Wars, Resident Evil, Battlefield games, Unreal 2007) and not including the already popular games out. But the thing I saw you post was Sony fucked with the prices. And thats gona stick with it for a while. And also since the 360 has been out for a year the bugs/glitches have *mostly* been fixed/or dealt with. Unlike the 600$ Ps3.

I could go on, about games, the original games, opinions, and go on that the Ps3 has better 'specs' but it seems that they arent even being used. The 360 isnt too far behind. And I really dont care. So what that the Ps3 can read a 100 page book while the 360 is on page 95. Its almost the fuckin same.

And not tryin to start anythin or even if I know wtf im talkin about but I was tryin to be more insightfull then 'station' in tryin to show you how the 360 will be more of choice even when the future comes. Respond please, ive had this debate many-a-times but every time theres always more facts or more time to completely change the debate. Thanks.

all i'll say in response to the last post... is if you can't see how a system being out for a year before another one could make a diffrence... well i guess you're not looking at what i'm looking for... the main argument on all this crap, is 360 has more game... of course it has more games, it's been out for a year now... it's not like all the game makers sitting there lining up game after game for when the system is released, there's only a handful upon release..

anyways... i'm tired of arguing over it so i'm letting it go... i may bring it up again, but it'll be after both have been out a year + as i said earlier in the thread, that's the sweet spot for any new system... it's where all the game companies start figuring out how they can push the system to it's max, without creating an unstable game, meaning they figure out how to use what they have available... and there's a wide spread assortment of games.... originals to cross systems..

It's all about the games. In this generation of consoles, it doens't matter how long you've been out.
Remember the dreamcast came out before the ps2 and was widely popular and was supposed to be the next 'big' system on the block.

We all know how that went.
Both the PS3 and the 360 will make plenty of money given sony can keep a few exclusives to themselves. Virtua figher is gonna be hitting the PS3 first as well as the exclusive motorstorm. Not a bad place to be for sony at the moment. They're not doing as well as they would have liked, but they're not nearly as bad off as everyone claims.

Ohh and one more thing..... FFXIII......nuff said.

i like how in motocross the tires of vheicles actually put ruts in the road...now the question is, will it actually affect racing (as real ruts would do) or are they just for fancy looks.

The gaming engine is capable of the physics. Its just a matter of how lazy the developer is in making the game.

I've heard a few times that the 360 is supposed to be easier to develop for, but I haven't heard an indifferent developer comment on it. The only 'official' statement about this I've heard is from the microsoft folks and a few xbox fanboys. I think at this point, the ps3 is not as easy to work on as it's still new. I'm hearing that game makers are just now starting to get used to the capabilities of the machine.

I don't think it's a battle of gaming systems (both are awesome). It's a battle between marketing and development contracts. Whoever can produce the most exclusive innovative titles will win the money. so far microsoft is winning and sony is catching up fast......however I hear the line is out the door for people wanting to develop for the wii.
Sorry I cant' help but mention it all the time. I think I'm the only one here that likes it, but I get excited at the gaming difference it brings to the table.:)

if so, i sure hope they're not that lazy.... shit like that would certainly add a certain replay value to games... i.e. with racing games you coudln't get everything down to a science and know when to turn, what sides to avoid ect ect... you'd have to go with instinct and reflex... taking gaming to a new level.. sure those AI's of the end of the latest systems are smarter compared to previous systems... but they're still no where near a warrior as even a mediocre player would be....

I'm hoping that features like this will take off in most games, but I don't think itll happen in all. Even if it was possible to make driving in a game just like the real thing, not all games would be like it. It's gonna depend on what genre of game your playing (arcade, action, sim).
Like the difference between Grand Turismo, burnout, and mario cart. Basic functions will be the same, but some games will be more 'realistic'.

o.0 again, COD3 is not only on ps2 but ps3... gears of war looks fuckin great tho... if it wouldn't cost me 400+ i'd get a 360 just to play gears of war... i wish they'd atleast put it on pc...

im surprised this thread is still going....i just dont see an arguement for the ps3 being a better system than the 360.

besides, after thought i finally just gave up the argument... so it's not really still going :p

i would say 360, but if you really know your stuff you realize that PC owns all of these systems- and if you dont belive me just look at the upcomeing DX10 game "crysis"

of course pc owns all... when new technology is out, you can upgrade your pc to use it... of course you have a harddrive where most of the information is stored, so you're not limited to what you can fit on a single cd (or sometimes 2)

the only problem with pcs , is they aren't as social of a system as xbox and playstation are. granted you can play on-line, but how often do you sit around with your buddies playing ?

i actually did it alot... lol.... if tehre's just one computer, we take turns, seeing who can do the best and whatnot... and i've been known to get on my wife's comp (while she's not here) and let someoen get on mine, and play games...

they can be pretty social lol... just depends on the people around you... some people can't afford decent computers (ones that could handle the newer games with no problems) a decent rig can run up quite a bit of money... but seeing 2 or 3 computers in a single home is becoming a more common occurance...

plus not to mention they're no where near as limited as consoles are.... consoles will always have a set ammount of features and you can't break those boundaries... a game doesn't support a headset? guess what on console you have to deal without.... but same game pc, you can get a ehadset to work, just getting something like teamspeak...

and the real kicker... is a game isn't online compatible on console? well, on pc you can make the game online... i've seen it done myself with vice city lol.. it was called multi theft auto... can't buy it in stores or anything, it was just some random programmer who wanted to make vice city online, so he took the game (the one you buy in the store) messed around with some of it, and turned it online, all you needed to get on was like a 5 mb (i think, something small like that) file put in one certain folder...

of course there was a lot of problems with it (when i found it, it had just been out like a month, it was still really buggy, that was a few years ago i'm not sure if they got everything worked out or not) but the point is, the only limitations with pc's is how much money you can put in it, and your own imagination...

you can even play 2 player offline games just by getting a dual screen video card (pretty common these days) and putting in a 2nd porting for mouse and keyboard, of course it's not just plug and play (i can imagine there would be some software to tweak with but i know it can be done as i've seen it done)

And what criterea are we using to determine what system is best? The only argument I've heard for the 360 is "A guy I know has one and we play cool looking games on it", or "The graphics are so much better". This isn't true. It's also a matter of opinion.

Like the screen shots that were posted. Am I the only guy who thought the PS3 screens looked better? The lighting was much more crisp and well defined.

I've said it a hundred times though...screen resolution and good graphics an awesome system does not make. It's about quality of games.

I think some fanboys are just hung up on the 360 becayse it's been out longer.

I had a ps2, i never liked xbox. I gave the 360 a chance and i love it. I don't mind paying 40 pounds a year for online, that's nothing to me. It's great you get to d/l loads of demos, can send voice messages, voice chat, join ppls games, there's so many things. I have GOW, but i never play it coz i don't like it. I prefer more realistic shooters, which is why i play rainbow 6 vegas and cod3 most, but mostly RB6V. I used to play halo 2 but like i said, it's too unrealistic for me, i hate shields.

I think the reason xbl is better then ps3 online is because more people will be playing it, therefore more competition. Especially with mlg... The ps3 may have the same games as xbox 360 but its not worth spending the extra amount of money for graphics which aren't largely superior to the 360's. The price has doomed the ps3, i may buy it in a years time when it has good games and is actually being sold at a reasonable price.

It's the blueray drive thats killing the cost of the Ps3. without it, you're looking at a pretty affordable console. No one really cares about the blueray disk though so no ones jumping on it.
