There was an article about this in the NY Times Magazine this week.

HOWEVER, this is obviously not a solution to AIDS (i don't think you were going for that). I believe statistics like this b/c the foreskin is more likely to have microtears, hence allowing women's juices into them. Re the sensitivity issue, I've noticed a marked change in sensitivity of the head of my penis when switching from boxers to briefs and back to boxers. When I go from boxers to the tighter briefs, it's uncomfortable at first how the head of my penis gets so much more contact with the fabric, but after a few weeks I get used to it. Similarly, it feels much different going back to boxers, and it's really painful going from underwear to commando - until my penis gets used to it. Because my sensitivity changes so much even though I'm cut, I don't think it's an issue of being cut... so I don't think cut people are any less sensitive. Those of you with foreskins, if you were to walk around with them retracted for a few days, I think you'd get used to it. That being said, I do think circumcision has shady justifications, and any sons of mine won't be having it done, because while it's harmless, it's also unnecessary.

I'm not a penis owner, so I can only speculate here... But I see several potential failings in this suggestion:

A) Is it not difficult to keep a condom snugly in place on a flaccid penis? If the thing is sliding around all day, it is going to cause more friction on the head rather than less. Perhaps even chafing! (Sorry guys, I know that made you wince.)

B) Latex isn't skin - Rubbing against it all day is going to be more similar to rubbing against clothing than to being protected by foreskin.

C) Your little man needs oxygen! Skin needs to breathe to be healthy.

You need to finish reading up on this because it goes much further than that.
It is not mystical... it is to keep girls from wanting to have sex, as the cultures that support female genital mutilation still look at their women as property and women should have no sexual desire of their own; they are there to perform at the whim of their husband ONLY, and for the experience to be painful enough that she would not want to cheat on him.

Furthermore, on top of removing the clitoris entirely, SOME of these cultures also SEW the labia SHUT, making the act of taking a girls virginity a bloody mess that is glorious for the husband because all that blood means that he was FIRST, no doubt about it... however this also causes incredible problems when the girl starts menstruating, because the sloughed-off uterine lining cannot escape the body, leading to septic shock and in many cases- not rare, FREQUENT- DEATH.

So obviously a procedure that causes a woman incredible pain throughout her life, if she even lives long enough to HAVE sex for the first time, cannot POSSIBLY be compared to male circumsicion.

NO, the reason that circumsicion of males became part of religious custom was because of cleanliness, not to cause them pain for their entire lives!!!

i am un-cut, but have friends who are and its really not a big deal over here in europe...some do, some dont.

my view is that circumsicion is only justified on medical grounds, like when the foreskin is to tight, or whatever.

the only thing i wanted to add is that if the foreskin is too tight, there is a procedure to loosen it which doesn't involve circumcision. i just thought i'd mention that....especially since a tight foreskin is a big problem for a lot of guys, and there is a way to fix it (if stretching it themselves doesnt work.
