Immortal Technique, disintegrates mic's when I spit
I cause more casualties than sunken slave ships
Full to capacity, I bring tragedy to rap without my man Kadafi
The government took Nazi scientists from Germany
To design nuclear rockets and ways of observin' me
'Cause their pathetic attempts, didn't work to murder me
When this country was conceived, these bastards never heard of me
But now I hold the souls of slave masters eternally
Bleeding internally, burnin' D, durin' surgery, verbally
 'Cause I'm a spiritual witch
 Devils are incompatible
I've been around since the planet was inhabitable
I spit in the ocean and created microscopic animals
Which involved into two species, the righteous and the cannibals
But until then, I had alien women suck me off
When God said "Let there be light", I turned it the fuck off
And that's the reason that the earth is only 5 billion years old
I made the sun shine, and permitted time to unfold
The surface was lava, but when I stepped down, it became cold
 Fuck what you've been told
My spiritual form became a swarm of molecule sickness
Manifested liquid trapped inside a mountainous region
Until the skies starting raining, continuous seasons
Immortal Technique, at long last, reincarnated
Undebatably reinstated to leave you decapitated
Je suis fou, but my crazy words make sense
I'll split every pound of your body into six pence
I'm sick of simple similes about The Sixth Sense
I'll leave your body drenched in the blood of all your ancestors
You'll never be at peace, like the souls of child molestors
I'll cut you and bless your festering wounds with alcohol
Drown you in a clogged toilet, in a public bathroom stall
I'll rip you down, take a chunk of you home like the Berlin Wall
This is the final call, for all the rappers that wanna brawl
Immortal Technique, the wrong motherfucker to diss
'Cause I allow God to let you motherfuckers exist

 Hahahahaha yeah, real oh
We about to crash somethin' now, yo
 Yo, yo, yo
I'm the stronghold on your neck that doesn't let you breathe
Stronger than the fake image of God in which you believe
More dangerous than your ignorant ass could ever percieve
A European virus, mutated in Africa, overseas
Transported by mosquitoes and fleas to where you live
So lock yourself in your house with your wife and your kids
You're such a bitch, somebody probably made you out of a rib
My arrest record just scratches the surface of what I did
My bid locked me up and brought my life to an end
I was forgotten, abandoned by my bitches and friends
You don't want beef with people like me so don't pretend
I'll resurrect your aborted baby and kill it again
You get no props in hip-hop like feminine men
I'm iller than any plague God gave Moses to send
You wanna make amends, 'cause I'm the reason that the earth shakes
Burying your fam like Central American earthquakes

 Immortal Technique
 Harlem to Canada
 Lyrically damage ya!

see, why isnt it hip hop? just cause its poetic now its all of a sudden no longer hip hop? thats what im trying to tell you, that rap isnt just plain rap, rap can be so much more, but you seem to not want to accept that, yeah ok you like neil young, great, im not gonna say anything about him, you like him, great, so why did you choose to post in this thread then, i was simply discussing how horrible mainstream rap has become, and then you come in here saying, "other genres have better lyricits" well good, no one said only rap has good lyricists, in a way your making it seem as though rap has NO good lyricists, which is my reason for posting what i did, there are some, it just depends on your opinion of good, you say its good poetry, but the simple fact of the matter is that Aesop Rock and Illogic are both, rappers, not poets, rappers, they rap, and the song, not poem, is a rap song, and if you are willing to learn, like you said then why not act like it? sems like you just said that so you could later claim to have an open mind, anyone can say theyre open minded, my little cousin could say it, but that doesnt mean you are being open minded, but its ok, you can continue to listen to your neil young, and ill listen to my music, just wondering why you even posted in here if all you could contribute is "rap has no lyricists" and then once i post one, you automatically say its crap, whatever its cool at least you didnt swear and bitch like some kids and were mature about it, just wish you were more open minded o well

i really have no idea if any of that was directed at me or not but i actually took the time to look at his lyrics and didnt find them to be good. i posted here because in my opinion rap doesnt have any lyricists and the post asked your opinion on the current state of hip hop. i iwish you could be a little more open minded and not accuse people of being closed minded when they dont agree with you. thank you:pimp:

I read the 1st page of this thread and had enough...

Theres nothing wrong with hip hop, or rap. There is something wrong with the fans. They keep buying into the same shit, so the record companies keep puttin out the same shit. Someone else said basically the same thing before me.

Rap / Hip Hop will never "come to a halt". Its here to stay. Some of the fans, will move on to something different, cause thats what people that dont really love something to begin with do.

Quit your cryin' and bitchin' and listen to what you like to listen to. If rap and hip hop isnt your thing, then go listen to something else. Real hip hop / rap fans will never quit listening to this stuff.

Hip Hop was about partyin and girls and chains and shit back then too. Not always some socially conscious lyrical shit. Its music. It changes, and some things stay the same.

 QUIT REACHIN'.

I think it's definitely getting better especially with like everyone dropping this 4th quarter. We got Jay, Snoop, Game, Method Man, Lloyd Banks, Luda all coming out within the last few months...which is definitely a good thing....maybe finally taking the eyes off that shitty southern "music".

Then after all said and done, we got (in my eyes)...the most anticipated return/album of the year coming out in a little over a week......NAS....dropping his tenatively titled album...."Hip Hop Is Dead"...and now with Eminem coming back possibly next year (and DRE's album), hip hop is being 'brought back to life'.

And if you think the 'underground' rules all...you just gotta realize although some underground rappers are good, obviously they can't even be compared with most of these guys who have already made it. Actually I think most of these guys suck anyway, but people just like them, because they haven't 'sold out' or what not. With the exception of a FEW, the rest all suck balls at rapping and/or making songs.

I wholeheartedly disagree, people don't just listen to underground rap because the artists have yet to "sell out". People listen to underground because it is so broad and diverse and so in a way, you choose your own music, as opposed to having to listen the set few mainstream songs that have been determined as "Good Music". Although we are all speaking of a common genre when we say hip-hop or rap, we all have a taste within that genre, and mainstream will usually not have that, and so you go to underground rap and find artists that APPEAL to that taste. The "popular" sub-genres are always changing, and at the moment I believe is the worst most unintelligent sub-genre. I blame this on lil jon and the eastside faggots

-

The current state of hip hop
Yeah I agree, I hate that Lil Jon and all that southern shit too ...trust me lol. I am talking about the current state of 'known' hip-hop...not necessary mainstream or popular. (Nas is known...but he doesn't have the biggest 'hits' in the world, although he's one of the best all time.)

Some underground is good obviously, but I am more of a 'known' hip-hop guy. I don't know how else to say it....it's like College BBall vs. NBA...I happen to like the NBA...lol.

im not calling them the kings of rap, im calling them the kings of the underground rap. and yes, they are underground. they recieve no mtv airtime at all, except for one time and they fought tooth and nail to get it there during primetime and then mtv moved it to super late night. hardly any stores sell their cd's and when was the last time you heard any of their concerts advertised on any channel? you have to dig through the internet to find their concerts.

Rap is going mainstream, meaning if your lyrics are hot, they don't give a fuck, they just want it to sound catchy and good.

Flow has alot to do with it when it comes to making it in the mainstream, you need your voice to sound smooth and professional.

well eyedea and aesop have very different styles, but i respect your opinion.
i think aesop is genuisly insane and writes some of the deepest/complex/metaphorical lyrics out there...hands down.

This should be a pretty good record (Dre & RZA, enough said).....and is a great example of 'not quite mainstream' but 'not quite underground' as well....which I think is the best kind.

I really get down with Murs.

His lyrics are about real shit, but it's not about everday shit that has already been rapped about.

Sometimes I listen to his lyrics, and I will related to his lyrics and I'll be like " Damn I thought I was the only person who thought like that"

But I thin Talib Kweli said it best about the current state of hip-hop.

 It's Dead.

Too Late - Talib Kweli and Hi Tek

"Yo, when the bass thump, the place jump
 Like it's way crunk, yeah,
Fake punks get they face lumped
Sent to the most high, by the most fit
You gotta do, fuck that almost shit
 The fam is close knit
You diggin', know the clock don't stop tickin'
Glocks still spittin', the whole block politickin'
Lik epresidents with they minds dead on arrival
Leaving no evidence of a struggle for survival
Songs relevant to the times like the psalms read in the Bible
Stepping to this leaves thoughts in your head 'it's suicidal'
It's the T to the A-L-I-B the deep rooter
Rolling with my wanna battle cats who chief buddha
And see through the overspecialized, underpressurized
No lie texturized, emcees who got the masses mesmerized
with empty rhetoric, they better quit
Niggas so hollow that they echo like sentiments

 Nowadays rap artists coming half-hearted
Commercial like pop, or underground like black markets
Where were you the day hip-hop died?
Is it too early to mourn? Is it too late to ride? (6x)

Kwa is chillin', Tone is chillin'
What more can I say, we stay building
 And make killings
Take children through the wilderness, by the hand
It's a great feeling, show 'em how to be a man
Exactly, pack trees in my khakis
My sound fat like a Neve while you thin like a Mackey
C'mon, shine so bright when I walk by
You got ta squint like the motherfucking sun in your eye
What! Say somethin, you stay frontin
It ain't nothing, let off like I'm big game hunting
Me and Tek stay way blunted
Wave running on beaches with white sand
 With a slight tan
Smack the mic stand with my right hand
 When I'm excited
Leave you so far in the dust that you forced to bite it
On fire like property lost to riots
Yo, ain't no stopping us when we all united ""

rap has gone the usual cycle that all popular music goes through. a new genre starts out and its the shit. then money gets its grip on things and generic talentless people come to the fore front. people then get tired of it and move on. for example.....

 80's
van halen, quiet riot, ac/dc>>>>>>>>poison, cinderella, whitesnake etc.

 90's
nirvana, pearl jam, alice in chains>>>>>>>nickelback, and a bunch of other generic popish grunge bands that i forgot about because they suck etc.

 2000's
run dmc, public enemy, nwa>>>>>>>>>>>>mike jones, 50 cent, Big Joe etc.

footnote: rap was never really all that good but i will admit it has gotten much worse

There are a few good hip hop albums that came out this year.

 Fishscale by Ghostface
Rotten Apple by Lloyd Banks (not bad)
Hell Hath No Fury by Clipse

and I hear The big Bang by Busta Rhymes is good although I have only heard a couple tracks. I'm gonna grab the new Nas CD tomorrow even though I don't like the single.

Meenstreek, don't buy More Fish. I have it and it sucks. Save your money and buy an old CD. Let me know if you need reccomendations.

Big Bang is a one of Busta's best offerings and my anthem for last summer was track # 12 - They're out to get me. It deals with friends who feel that once your successful, you've changed.

I heard More Fish wasn't as good as Fishscale, but I have to support the Wu.

Great name by the way RIP ODB. I got to see him live at the Congress theater here in Chicago with the whole Clan. It remains one my fondest memories in high school. My crew and I had 2 oz. of weed and we smoked it all in the pit while the Wu performed. White owl Blunt after Philly blunt after Dutch master blunt. ahhh the memories.

All right man go get More Fish, just don't say I didn't warn you. I was thinkin the same shit (support the Wu), but Ghost let me down. Production is garbage and the other dudes in Theodore unit kinda suck.

What other CD's did you buy this year and what do you think of them? I can't even fuckin remember what else I copped,... oh yeah TI, AZ (The Format is dope!), and a bunch of old albums that were missing from my collection.

Other CDs I copped this year

 M-1: Confidential
Jedi Mind Tricks: Servants in Heaven, Kings In Hell
 Hi-Tek: Hi-Teknology 2 The Chip
 Mitchy Slick: Urban Survival Syndrome
Method Man: 4:21 The Day After
 RhymeFest: Blue Collar
 The Roots: Game Theory
 OC: Smoke and Mirrors
 Agallah: You Already Know

Wow, I'm surprised I named that many. There a bunch of others as well,I'm just at work and I'm trying to go off the top of the dome. I too copped a lot of old cd's that were stolen from me a while back. I've been meaning to cop that new AZ the Format. Is it better than AW.O.L. That was a sleeper for sure.
