What strain would you pick?
Good morning Rasta,
Here's the update... I checked the temperature display, and it was reading 89.6F... sweet. Then I checked the MAX temp and it was 90.6F. Even more sweet!
I'm including two pics... the first one, well, you can see my cabinet inside my closet... and you can see the tower fan invention... The space that's open above the tower fan, right there there's a lot of air going out. I aimed the tower fan to the other end of the cabinet... so, apparently, there's a pretty nice air cross-flow going on there.
Other than that, everything is looking fine. I think I'm doing good in not committing the 'newbie's error' and over-watering. I just pour like 1tbsp for each one of them at a time. Water + two/three drops of SuperThrive.
Hey Rasta, I'm going to scan the labels of the bottles I have... When I ordered my lights and stuff, I ordered quite a number of additives... for growth... for flowering... for blooming... for flushing the plant... etc. I know, I know that I can't mix them all up... but I want to place the labels (name + instructions) here, so we can start figuring out the diet for the plants when the time comes. Remember, these plants growing right now are the mother plants, then we take 12 clones and... let her rip!
Till a little later,
-turtle420

I think it will be floramicro for veg, bloom for bloom.. As for the application of the nutes I having no fucking clue abut hydroponics, that's Zandor's realm

All the others seem lacking in some nutes not to mention overly abundant in others... Stick with the micro and bloom I would say, but again, ask Zandor how much and stuff like that

No problem... let's see what we do.
The other thing I've got that I didn't list is the SuperThrive...
Let's see if Zandor or somebody drops by and gives us a hand... At least we've still got time.
I'm not really interested in feeding the mother plants (if they survive in SuperThrive and water, that's it)... I'm interested in planning out the mixes we'll use when the time comes for the 12 plant hydro NFT.
I've got an idea!!! Let's call Garden! Hey wanker! Can you stop reading my thread and not-posting? Could you please shed some light on this subject? I mean, I know you're pissed off at me because I revealed your 3rd nipple to the world... and I know that's the reason that your new avatar is a picture of your back... But please Garden,... help us out! :smokin:
Rasta, what do you think? I think this is planning to be a kick-ass grow... :)
Picture: I asked MasterChief to keep a watch on the temperatures... I gave him a cig so he wouldn't be so bored...
Over and out...
-turtle420
PS: I'll be using filtered water (R.O. and DeIonized [DI])

Start watering with superthrive immeadiately.. 2 drops a gallon will do it.

On it... I've been using a 1 Liter bottle of pepsi... I added about 2 or 3 drops to that liter... That's the water I've been using since day 1. :D
Nice!!!

I just installed a 'tent' for the temperature probe... I beleive I'm getting accurate readings now... I think.

GOD DAMN YOU TURTLE. First the rastafan, now the tent... stop god damn improving my inventions!!!! I just wanted you to fold a random peice of garbage and place it on top of the god damn probe! lol No seriously very nice job.. your creativity is refreshing

LoL dude... LOL!!!
Not to worry, when the harvesting is done, we'll toke some to the sound of sublime... :)
Hey, I just got @ the post office a box with the Sonic Bloom system. I ain't going to use the additives/spray now... as I'm saving that for use with the 12clones. But I did change my classical music CD (Mozart) with the music CD that came with the Sonic Bloom... wow... trippy music... really trippy music... insects making sounds... whistles... harps... nature... water falling... etc.
LOL!!! I like the music 4 the plants thing... :)

That sonic boom thing is intriguing... I mean plants do grow nicely outside and all those natural sounds ARE present. Very interesting indeed.. be sure to update us.. and note any differences from the plants that are farther away from the system... It'd be interesting to know how much it helps

Here's a pic of the girls on the night of day 13... :)
Good night,

Morning Rasta
Here's a pic of one of the girls... the tallest.
Hey Rasta... when should I snip (cut) the bottom set of leaves? I'm counting on you to tell me when the time is right... I, trully, have no idea when to do it. I saw that you did it on your thread, and you have those super nice "little bushes".
Anyways, I checked the temp this morning... 87.6F.... that's ok. I checked the MAX and it was 90.2F.... Yeah! Doing good... doing good.
Every time I water them, I change their position.... so they don't bend all the way towards the light in a certain way. I change the pot's position (left-right) and I turn the pot, so the plants get the light from a slightly different angle.
I'll log on in a little while :D

I added two tweeters per speaker... Reason being, that the Sonic Bloom product asks you to put in MAX the 'trebel' setting on your stereo... Well, because my radio was a $35 deal... it doesn't have a 'trebel' or 'bass' setting. So, I bought two sets of car stereo tweeters... $5 each. I then spliced the speaker cables and added the two tweeters per speaker...
Now you definitely hear more crickets, animals, whistles, winds, birds singing, etc.
I want to copy the Sonic Bloom CD and hear it in my car... it's pretty relaxing... nice melodies. Sonic Bloom says that you're "serenading your plants"... as in giving them a serenade. ;) that's nice. I mean, they are girls afterall...
Plant growth is getting pretty interesting. Apparently, because of the surplus of light they're getting, they don't see the need to grow vertical much. They've stayed more or less at their same height pre-400W MH. But they're just throwing all the new nodes and growth very close to each other... amazing!
And the little plant... the one that's behind all the others for, like, 14 days, is already showing second growth, and that thing doesn't have 1/4 inch in height! I don't know if this is normal... but I'm just excited seeing this all for the first time in my life :D
Laters,

You don't even want to think about snipping leaves until you have decently long secondary branches (1/2") but I don't reccomend it I'm not that experienced and was just messing around and can't say that I'll be doing it with my next grow... you say you have secondary growth?? You are talking about the little leaves that protrude from inbetween the main stalk and nodes right? If so then good job you're off to a good start :rasta: be sure to keep a steady temp and don't fool around with them too much.. growth rate is really going to pick up in the next few days.. Just keep them alive :)
-
What strain would you pick?
Are they're leaves visibly fluttering from air movement? Stems are looking a little weak for 2 weeks..

Yeah... those little ones... I'm going to try and swing by Radio Shack tomorrow and get one of the little microscopes... Get some pictures of these developments... :)
As to keeping them alive... heck! They're doing great on their own...
I still water them like 3-4 times a day, 1tbsp each plant...
I've got my new reflector... so now I can modify it and finish off the cabinet for good. It's kind of sad that I've got to drill holes into the cabinet... it's so well finished and built... oh, well... it's for a better purpose...
Tomorrow, I'll try to do the following:
-Reflector installation
-fart fans installation (2 inside)
-ballast cooling box build + fart fan (to keep the ballast cool)
-tower fan stand
-fan with fresh-air intake from the window
Let's see how it goes...
Hey Rasta, I posted over @ hydro forum regarding the nute doubts we have. Here's the link:

I hope people reply with good ideas
Rasta, you ain't going to do the snipping? Just asking... as this is my 1st grow, I'm hoping that with pictures, people more knowledgable than me can help out with the girls. Does snipping keep them shorter? Will we be able to get enough clones with a short height?
Hmmm... nothing... we've still got time for all these questions.

One question.. reflector: Metal or plastic?

Metal. It's nice thick metal sheets, bent/folded, and powder coated white. I think it's a pretty good piece of equipment. Inside the reflector, there's this reflective metal (aluminum?) with the random dimpled surface. One bulb socket is at one end, the other at the other end. It has the lower glass plate installed, and the air fittings with the 50 CFM fart fan blowing through.
I know you advised me against the reflector, but I'm telling you, I've got the plants just about 1" away from the glass plate of the reflector...
Why do you ask? Ideas? Suggestions? Questions?

Ooops... sorry, I hadn't seen this reply...
Anyways, yes, they're fluttering. But not too hard. I've had a difficult time with the fluttering thing and the plants. Sometimes it's overdone and I find one of them almost bent over (fighting for its 'rightness'). Right now, I've got a 10" fan blowing right across the surface of the pots, and yes, the plants are moving back and forth lightly.
I rotate the pots... so sometimes two plants are closer to the fan... and sometimes the other two are closer...
What do you think? Thin stems? Hmmm... :(

Captain's Log, star date unknown... too stoned...
Plants seem to be spurring new growth fast. The 'crippled' one, as outlined by Dr. RastaKaze, has produced some duplicate growth on top. I don't know if this is because of its physical 'deformities' or because of some deeply encoded RNA sequence that enables survival strategies... Picture is attached below.
Sonic Bloom system was applied, in spray form, late in Day 14. The Sonic Bloom CD, plus high-pitched acoustic reproduction electromechanic systems (tweeters) have been "serenading" the plants for over 48 hours. I must admit, that such recopilation of tones and pulses... such, music, has helped me be more relaxed. I now enjoy more sitting @ my computer and writting this useless log...
I must concur with Dr. Kaze's observations, in that plant growth/change in these days will be amazing. I'm already watching as the tiny THC making machines develop into a more complex and impressive organism.
This. Is. Amazing.
As per the suggestions of the Kuerinthian Stonehood Ambassador, I've been applying water mist to the little ones... I've diluted in the water a diminutive amount of a 'wonder' product the Earthlings are fond of... something called "SUPERthrive". It does seem to work, and it does have great reviews written for its approval... but that company/entity definitely needs a Graphics Designer to re-do their label... Our on-board supercomputers had to crack 13.4 trillion PetaFlops for over 7 minutes before de-cyphering the label: It was English language after all...
I'll try and get some work done, then I'll re-log and update...
Captain turtle off...

What strain would you pick?
Awsome! They're stems wouldn't be as stretched had you started them under the MH but otherwise it looks like they are finally becoming "plants." At this point it's pretty hard to kill them and they're gonna start growing much faster. #1 Is looking a little droopy.. she's gonna be ready for nutes very soon :)
-
What strain would you pick?
Hey turtle.
Found your logg, never would have found because I am rarely posting in Strains & Seeds and the odd name you decided to name your logg haha.
Looking good, pic1 looks like it needs nutes very soon as rasta said. Although rasta, I cannot call this beautiful 'THC Making Machine' a she quite yet.
Very nicely put by the way turtle. :)

What strain would you pick?
Hey Rasta, Joel,
What should I feed these mothers? As you guys said (that I didn't know), they'll be ready for nutes soon...
Well, what do I feed them? Do I get a bag of plain nutes? Again, these are mothers... no need to have them super duper nuted... I guess.
Thanks,
-turtle420

Turtle, I would recommend giving your plant in picture 1 a blast of 5-1-1.
As they quickly react to that ammount of food and you will get nice and healthy green leafs as you can see the ammount nitrogen used is alot more then P-K.
-
What strain would you pick?
5-1-1
That's... something I have? I don't think so... Do I go to Home Depot and look for plant fertilizer that has 5-1-1 in the front?
Sorry dude... I'm just lost...
-
What strain would you pick?
Oy idk about 5-1-1.. Hardonn liked a heavy nitrogen veg.. I believe 9skis began feeding with high nitrogen mexican bat shit (10-2-0) tea 3 tsp. to the liter on day 20 or so... If you can't get that you can find fish shit with a similar npk to what Joel reccomended...
-
What strain would you pick?
I measured 5-1-1, sorry turtle didnt know.
You can use bat guano, Rasta I do believe bat guano is 11-1-1, it could be 10-2-0, but Im almost sure its 11-1-1, depending on the kind of bat shit ya got I guess.
Cant go wrong, they're both heavy nitroge dose's.

Five pics of the plants here...
-Nice looking plant...
-Overview of the girls
-This one I really hope is a female...
-This is 'the oldest'.

What strain would you pick?
I'm going to see if tomorrow I can get my hands on some bat shit... aka, Guano.
I'll let you guys know.
Bong out,
-turtle420
-
What strain would you pick?
No success with the bat shit... that shit is pretty hard to find around here... apparently...
Anyways, the best I could find was a 18-4-12 fert...
Will it work?
-
What strain would you pick?
I wouldnt recommended using 18-4-12 for another week or maybe even two.
It has a huge nitrogen dosage + a phosophorus dosage, I think it may over nute the plants. If they start to droop, give them a alittle bit of it with next watering, cant help to try something new? Hell who knows you could even get a mad growth spirt out of it. Good luck
Might I recommend buying Bat guana from the net.
