I had the same for lower leaves. I think sativa is better with thin leaves in this case. More light can reach down.Quote:

After I don't know how long of starring at my girl I finally decided to just take some pics.
She is starting to get a little frosty.
.
Very Nice! :rastasmoke:
Are you starting to see how I had problems with harvest using the chicken wire?
Oh yeah. It's definitely going to be interesting come harvest time.Quote:

Wow those are stunning closeup shots. What a cool toy and so handy also.
That is one beautiful plant too :)
Nice pics! :rastasmoke: I sooooooo need to break down and order one of those things.
Beautiful plants bro:greenthumb:
Thanx to all. :D
Yesterday I noticed what seems to be a slight nute burn and possibly lockout happening.
So I drained out about two gallons and replaced it with ph'ed water. This brought the ppm down by about 400.
Going to be keeping a close watch the next few days. :icon506:
Buds are still continuing to bulk up, and slightly getting taller too.
Here's the pics. :hippy:

oh my... that looks so beautiful! Another week and I flip the switch I think... I am so looking forward to something like what you have here and I really am enjoying the lessons.
If I missed you telling us this, throw something at me... but I am encountering a question now as I am starting the training on my screen. The lower limbs are just now all reaching screen height and will be turned to go horizontal as soon as they are long enough to get to the next hole. Did you tie these vertical climbers to a wire at the point you wanted them to bend or did you just let them naturally reach out and then bend them over when it was logical to do so? I have about 16 of them about ready to get to this decision point.
Emmie
emilya,
I just let them grow up naturally and then trained out once they got to the screen.
In my opinion this leaves too much under growth to deal with, and in my case lots of small popcorn buds under the screen.
I was trying to trim the under growth, but there was so much I finally had to just let it go.
I was too afraid of making her hermie from taking them all off at once. By doing it slowly I just ran out of time. (Last real trimming was at about three weeks flower.)
In my newest log (http://boards.cannabis.com/hydroponi...2nd-scrog.html) I am trying out a different technique for the early veg training.
I am hoping that this will keep all the bud growth above the screen.
One other thing that I did with this SCROG was to stop training about a week into flower. My theory on this was to let her grow further above the screen.
It didn't make sense to me to have all the buds just a few inches above the screen.
Well I hope some of this helps you out. If not, thanks for listening. :p
Wishing you best of luck with your girls, and I'll be watching. :hippy:
Thought I would include a pic of the whole girl, and an up skirt shot too.
.
Apparently when I compensated for the slight nute burn I went too far.
Created a nitrogen deficiency that came on fast. She has lost quite a lot of fan leaves due to this. :(
Did a res change and have starting using Overdrive.
On the bright side I have killer light penetration now. :p
And here's the pics. :hippy:
man that 2nd pic is just too F'n pretty! That's a desktop pic for sure!!!!!!
Thanx man! :DQuote:

I haven't been able to fully master getting clear close up shots.
Could I get any of your input on whether it is mostly clear or mostly cloudy? :wtf:

It is hard to see from way up here... but what I don't see is amber. I forget who's battle cry it is, but I have heard it on here several times and it is what I am shooting for in my first grow... 5% amber... then I am pulling it. I'm betting you are very close... maybe another week? Keep watching closely as everything I have read says this can happen pretty quickly, and you don't want to miss the perfect harvest time. ;)Quote:

They sure look tasty though. I bet you are very pleased when you look at them and I imagine that the smell is awesome! Congratulations! You are almost there!
Emmie
I plan on harvesting around 10%-15% amber. I prefer more of a couchlock effect. :stoned:Quote:

As far as the smell goes it is very mild. Almost can't smell it unless I brush up against a bud.
The smell is lemony sour but sweet at the same time. My girlfriend thinks it kinda smells like Fruit Loops.
And every once in awhile I get a whiff that can only be described as "sweet smelling vomit".
I just looked this strain up,.... Breeder says Indica dom. 65 day (indoor) flowering time so 9.2 weeks. You should still have another week to go at least!Quote:

Those pics were with the scope, but I couldn't get my hands stable enough for clear pics.
I have had "the shakes" since I was about 14. No ones really sure why........
Parkinsens? (SP?) I know there's a few neurological diseases out there that cause shakes.
Girls look awesome tho! Shakes or no, you've done well with this! :D :greenthumb:
I just got home from running some errands, and wow does my house reek.
Figured out it is from a hole in my exhaust. Part of the exhaust air was bypassing my carbon filter.
A little duct tape should take care of this.
I didn't mind the smell one bit.
It was actually a nice welcome home, but I'm sure my neighbors wouldn't feel the same way.
It's too bad that the masses are still brainwashed by all the government propaganda.
:) good thing you ran those errands. You might not have noticed it for some time while you were sitting there in the house getting used to that wonderful smell. I had that happen here when I was first relying on duct tape to hold things together. I learned the value of a good screw down hose clamp... and then the duct tape. :thumbsup:Quote:

There currently is only a few random specs of amber trichomes.
I would like to give her some more time to finish up, but it is time for her to vacate the premises. :asskick:
Tomorrow evening I will be harvesting.
Here's the pics. :hippy:
Congratulations! She looks wonderful! Looks like it is going to be a pretty good yield too!Quote:

It took me a lot longer than I anticipated to complete this harvest. Seven hours in total!
Just like canniwhatsis I had to get the dikes out to cut the buds from the screen.
Started at 8:00 p.m. and finished at 3:00 a.m.
Needless to say only a few hours sleep and loads of work left to do in the flower room today. (I am making some changes for the next run.) I am exhausted!
When I first decided to travel down this venture I definitely had no idea it would be this much work. :stoned:
This bud is definitely super sticky! At one point my fingers were basically glued together.
She is also very dense and rock hard. :woohoo:
Though there was a ton of tiny popcorn buds. I figured it wasn't worth it to trim these, so they went into the trim pile.
I'm going to have some potent edibles. :rastabanna:
Here's the pics. :hippy:
The brownish ball next to the cutters is the finger/scissor hash.
Great harvest!
yummie! I am dreaming of the day when I get to glue my fingers together here. I bet it smells divine in there! 7 hours!!! That has got to be a story all by itself! I am curious how much she gave you too... conditions there seemed to be pretty much optimal on a well filled SCRog... wondering how she stacked up to the published projections.
So, regarding the extrication from the screen...
anything you would do differently now in the SCRog because of what you have seen here?
And then the drying process, I have 1000 questions...
How do you like that hanging basket drying rack? I guess I should buy or build something like that soon too.
Do you turn them periodically or keep a fan on the cage?
Is it kept in the dark or in your flower area?
How long do you expect to keep it in the cage before it is dry enough to cure?
996 questions left, but I will stop there. The voices in my head tell me to go back to my quiet place and be a good girl. :)
Emmie
Thanks to all for the kind words. :o
Emmie,
The smell is becoming more and more sweeter. I like it a lot. :smokin:
As far as the 7 hours goes, it's not much of a story at all. Chopping her down and extricating the bud from the screen only took about forty minutes.
The rest was all trimming time. (Including a few breaks here and there.) I do not like leafy buds. So there was some extra care given to the trimming.
You also have to keep in mind that this is my first harvest. So I know I am not the fastest trimmer by far.
There are two things that I would do differently, and I am currently doing them in my other thread. http://boards.cannabis.com/hydroponi...2nd-scrog.html
The first is a different type of pre-training (Trying to easily eliminate popcorn buds.) and the second is a screen with larger openings for flowering.
I like the hanging drying screen so far. It really helped to simplify the building process for the drying room.
I do not have that much space so i needed something that could be easily taken apart and put away.
The whole tent is collapsible and stores away nicely.
I will get pics of that once I'm finished drying, if you want.
There is a 4" carbon filter inside hooked up to a small fan exhausting from the tent. I have found out that the 4" is not enough for the job.
The fan runs continuously and just barely creates a negative pressure inside the tent. The temperature has been staying at 70*F with 50% humidity inside the tent.
Like I said earlier this is my first harvest, so ergo this is my first time drying too.
My plan is to flip the buds once daily until the stems kinda "pop" to a 90 degree but does not snap in half.
Then they will be de-stemmed and placed into a paper bag until ready for curring. I will rotate the buds in the bag daily.
I am guessing this will take a little over a week all together.
Hope some of this helps you out, and don't hesitate if you have any more questions. I enjoy helping out where I can. :hippy:
Nice!
I want to say "I told ya",.... but I already did that! ;)
7 hours! THAT is a session!!!! I give up the ghost after about 4! :o But your right,.... you'll get faster at trimming as you bring down more harvests!
As for the dry/cure,.... it's all personal preference.
I like to hang branches and let them slowly dry for about a week before de-stemming and jarring for cure. This takes about 3-4 weeks total after chopping the plant before it's ready to smoke,..... but IMHO it's worth the extra wait! :S5:
I also do a "quickdry" method that the wife found somewhere for the "popcorn" buds so we have some initial harvest to test out,.... this is done in a cardboard box lined with paper towels that's on top of the TV to keep the temps in the 80-90* range,..... the buds are ready to smoke in about 2 day's to a week,..... but the QUALITY suffers greatly!!!!!!! :stoned:
Wow Tiki you've done well. Its been a great log to follow from start to a happy ending. Thanks for taking the time to do it :)
Last night I decided that they were about 3/4 of the way done drying. So I de-stemmed the buds and placed them into a paper grocery bag.
Once in the bag I folded the top closed twice. I will continue to rotate the buds twice a day until I determine they are ready for curring.
It was about a week total for drying.
Now starting the cure. I figure it's going to take about 2 weeks for a good cure, but I will go longer if need be.
I have started to smoke the tiny "popcorn" buds that were thrown into the trim pile.
The high is really good, but I will give a full smoke report once the curred buds are ready.
The funny thing is that I have paid decent money for buds that look like these before, and they definitely were not this potent. .... :wtf:
Here's the pic. :hippy:
Looks yummie! What did you do with your trim pile? I'm planning on making half butter and half topical oil with mine. I have been watching you work and have been making plans... I'm about 3 -4 weeks away now !! Did you say potent? :)Quote:
