Wow do the temps really sore with a 400w HPS. After just an hour the temps near the top (above the cool tube) was around 83F+ and in the middle about 78.
I had to re-adjust some fans and vent piping but I think I can manage 78F within the grow area.

The script is a nifty idea, but be aware, it assumes fixed values for water hardness, feed strength and product line. So it's a bit limited in what it can actually calculate... you'll need to rewrite it each time you vary an assumed, fixed factor.Quote:
For anyone interested and using Canna Coco products. I wrote up a Python (programming/scripting language) app to calculate corrected nutrient volumes.
Probably easier just to work in whole litres. ;)

I see you went with a nice short veg period, good choice :thumbsup:. In my noobness I vegged for 39 days. I definitely won't be vegging for longer than 28 days next time.
Mixing lights during flowering is a good idea. I don't know if it stops stretching, but it helps with increasing the size of your crop. I plan to add one 125 watt blue (6400k) cfl to my lighting setup for my next flower (currently flowering with 2 x 125watt red 2700k cfl's).Quote:

when growing from seed start at 12/12 for 30 days then increase lights 1 hour every other day until you get to 18/6....keep nitrogen levels low and temps in the 70's for the first 30 days also...this is more like spring time conditions and you will have better chance of having girls:thumbsup:

looking at your above shot....my guess is that the only girl in your box is the center small one....just a guess from looking at the structure of the plant
the branches on the fan leaves are much longer on the 2 outside small ones and shorter on the center child....long branches usually = male....but grow them out to be certain....just my guess from years of popping seeds before getting my harem!:thumbsup:
Oh wow I didn't know you could "encourage" the sex of a plant. Always thought they were pre-determined in the seed.

some seeds are pre-determined but most depending on environmental conditions will increase the chance one way or the other....lighting is a critical factor in helping them! try to be Mother Nature and make it spring time in your grow room when popping seeds...70's lights on....down to 50's lights off :thumbsup:Quote:

The bible suggest high N Nutes during early stages to increase chances of female? For some reason I've had pretty good luck with seeds and getting females. Feminized seeds are awesome just make try not to get a strain that still has a high hermie rate, I wasn't aware of this till I already had mine:thumbsup:

- Rotated the smaller pot into the middle as the main plant is just growing like madness.

- Noticed the tops are starting to look different... can just looking at the tops determine sex?

after reading the MMJ bible it says higher N levels and increased blue light....but that is only info i was not correct on...my bad! i am going to copy that page and post it in a new thread as i am sure with as many peeps as i see growing here many are popping seeds and i am sure they would like to increase the chances of having girls! :jointsmile:Quote:

I'd be interested to know what's happened to change your mind? Personally, I work coco as a hydroponic medium, ie) I provide consistent strength, nutrient solution at regular intervals and maintain a consistent level of moisture in the medium.
You can, if you wish, pretend that coco is soil and treat it more like a soil grow... it will still grow you some weed, but it wont yield nearly as much as it would under consistently applied hydroponic practices.
@sarah - I think my water is too hard where I live and just nuting everyday is causing some salt buildup issues. I think I will follow PhatJay's feeding schedule and do 2 days nutes and 1 day just tap water. Maybe my next grow I'll use pure RO filtered water and supp. my own minerals.

what i do with coco is flush once a week and nute every watering! but not a big flush like 5 gal of water for a 2gal pot ... just flush until you get plenty of run off..

- Installed new carbon filter- can't smell a thing :)
- Started to test my pH and it 6.5+, so the last few days I've been pH adjusting down to 5.8~.
- Removed the crazy growing male.
- Still no signs of female sex yet :(

Good looing grow Aq~do you notice how short the stems on the fan leaves are on the 2 stockier plants and how long they are the 2 in the tray with your unknown house plant:)
my bet is the 2 stockier plants are girls and the other 2 are males...just my guess..take a few cuts from the bottom of each if you can to clone:jointsmile:

check this picture out....my buddy is growing these to put outside when it is time but he is vegging them with only 25watt of LED's
he is using 2 screw base LED bulbs in a 2' x 3' space in his closet...a cheap grow area if you can set it up because no heat or venting is needed only a small fan to circulate some air!:thumbsup:

not good...i was wrong on that one...hope the other shows girl..damn! i was almost sure that one would show female after seeing the other confirmed male....remember next time to start on a more friendly light schedule to help coax them to being girls! :thumbsup:

Maybe it's time you bought yourself some feminised seeds Aquanaut? You have learnt enough already to know that you are going to get them to harvest. Considering what you have spent in time, equipment and lighting, another few dollars on seeds isn't going to break the bank.

Day 39 / 15 - Flower
So after work I took another look at my plants to see how the little ones were doing. I was pretty bummed after finding out my largest plant was a male... again. But to my surprise... I think this is a female?
Correct me if I'm wrong but the thing I thought was a male part is the female... calyx? I took some more pix and if anyone can confirm if it's female I'd be freakin happy. Or if it's a male part and the rest look female, can I just cut it off?
