I think the problem you are going to run into is that, yes, the higher parts of the plant will keep growing and flourish, but the lower areas are not getting nearly enough light. The fan leaves are probably going to start yellowing because they aren't being used.Quote:

I use CFLs because they are cheap and work great if you use them right. The problem with them is they lose a lot of light as the fan leaves get farther away from the bulbs. That's what I believe is happening with yours.
Plant is surrounded by lights dude. I'll add 2 more 26w tomorrow since it grows bigger and I need to redo the setup. So 4x 42w on top and 6x 26w around it. And fan leaves always seems to be the first ones to yellow and fall. It will generate more energy to the top of the plant! and new growth!Quote:

Could be low on Nitrogen (N)... I've read that Nitrogen deficiencies will usually manifest as yellowing leaves that start at the bottom and slowly work upwards. Maybe on your next couple of waters, add some nutes with slightly higher N ratio, but start slow (like 1/4 strength, or 1/8 strength).Quote:

On only 1 plant!!
CFL crazyness..It's idiot bright in there..Day 36!!

PS: I will water her added with a bit of nutes!
:thumbsup:
PPS: I compared this plant to Peachez (Alien plant from last year). At same age, 36 days this plant is at least 200% bigger!!!

Yo Monkey, Been a min since I dropped in. I think you should pull some of the bottom branches out some, So more light will penetrate inside that soon to be monster bush. I bet that she is gonna be one hell of a smoke. Not sure what your finance situation is, but if I was doing Cfls I would try to get two 43w at the bottom also. But your the cfl guy so you know better than I do, As I am just here to watch you produce the offspring of the alien monster Chick.!... Ya I know its more than likely not gonna happen but hey we can hope it does right.:D Hmm you say 4oz, I hope I can manage that since my bitch been vegging for umm.... 3 months or so lol actually forgot. Not really to sure tho since its in a 1.6gal pot lol and least 3ft tall but its healthy and doing fine. I'm throw her in a 3.5-4.7 gal. bucket soon then flower.! Do you think its possibly that i would get 4oz even tho I am using a Mh for flower, Ill try to get some cfls to supplement but im not sure.:jointsmile:

That is a truly great plant, compact and bushy. Definitely needs some nutrients but you're on top of it :thumbsup: Looking forward to seeing this green monster flower. Good luck :)
No alien for this year! But oh boy this plant is big compared to those I had last year.No more cfl for veg!! Heat issues!!! And money is always an issue.I think I haven't give her enough nitrogen, and she already drank all the water! So tomorrow i'll give her more!Quote:

More lower leaves going yellow?
I hope not!!:(
Nope I don't think so, anyway it's alright, lower fan leaves always yellows out and falls anyway.Quote:

looks fine. real nice.
Have you considered Lollipopping her ? Might help with lower light and air flow to help her stay cool ?
I agree that lollipopping might be a good idea. I mentioned to MB a few weeks ago that the light wasn't penetrating to the lower parts of the plant, which I believe is the reason the bottom of the plant is yellowing.
I would again suggest getting a few of the CFLs to hang down around the sides of the plant (I think MB misunderstood when I said it before). There are plenty of lights for the canopy, but the plant is going to spend too much energy on the shaded growth/shoots.
If you don't want to hang CFLs differently, you could definitely lollipop the bottom 1/5 of the plant (many recommend doing the bottom 1/3, but I think that's too much, especially for this beautiful plant) :thumbsup:
But MB has also emphasized doing the grow w/o advanced techniques, and is definitely proving that keeping it simple can have tremendous results.
Keep the pictures coming! :thumbsup: I was bummed I didn't get to see the new growth yesterday when the site was down.
Looking good M.B, Keep it up will be a monster plant in no time.:thumbsup: What nutes you gonna use on her in bloom.?
~One~:rastasmoke:
~BudG~:rastasmoke::rastasmoke:
WOW!
Ok first, what is lollipop?
Secundo, Heat is an issue because I have to close the door of the closet while i'm out for work, so lights are on while i'm not there to open the door, building some heat. 14 cfls in an 5x5 closet...do the maths, pretty substancial heat going on there.
More cfl? man there are cfls all around her, fixed to the walls on the side of the plant. I can't physically put more. (I'll post pics of the light today)
Bloom nutes? Same as last year! I'll continue with my nature's grow set of nutes and Big Bud bloom nutes! Search a bit in my last year's grow log and you'll see pictures of what I used.
Yellowing is normal at this stage, lower leaves (meaning first leaves to appear in plants life) are useless now because the plant have so many leaves higher!
Even in nature some branches or leaves that are lower just fall off! Energy spent on those leaves are energy lost.
I won't wright a novel on that, but anyway i'm pretty sure my little plant is as happy as a clown giving birth!
Pics on next post!
Thanks all very much for stopping by!
:thumbsup:
First 2 pics, side mount lights, very bright! Pictures are "real life brightness"
[attachment=o232162][attachment=o232163]
3rd pic is all lights, brightness is toned down for you to see all cfls in there
[attachment=o232164]
4th pic...bright?..no...AWESOME!
[attachment=o232165]
5th pic..out in the kitchen for a bit of sun bath..so is it bright in my closet?
[attachment=o232166]
Final conclusion, I turn the plant 1/2 turn every day, so lights on the wall can do it's job well.
Whatcha think?
:thumbsup:
Lookin pretty good, you on 12/12 yet?Quote:

Removing dead parts of leaves are best than cutting the whole leaf?
:thumbsup:
Just by trimming off the dead you are making your grow area safer in terms of mold etc. By leaving the remaining part of the leaf after trimming the dead off you are leaving the plant to digest it as food. if the dead spots are spreading then were talking another whole can of worms.... nice pics tho things are looking good :thumbsup:Quote:

I want you to start flowering her now, so we can see the juicy buds. Gonna be delicious. :thumbsup:
First, there is a lot of pics where you see lights hanging on the walls...Quote:

Flower now man, you won't get a monster to flower under CFL's. Trust me..Quote:

First, read log completely. This plant is a female and it has preflowers showing since mid november.Quote:

His seeds should be fine, It was a seed that came from his last grow. Which one plant had some stress and hermi, And he hit his other female with the pollen. And if am correct he should have some Fem seeds.Quote:

As you can always re postion the cfls in spots that a Mh, HPS cant get to. And you can postion the bulbs alot closer and that wonderful good shit.!
Looking great Monkey keep doing what ya been doing, Show them the cfl monster you can create.!:jointsmile::thumbsup:

Peachez looked as if she would have been really bushy last grow. If you had more lights when you started her than as of now. But your plant is twice the size as the other 2 were in their day 40's.

depends on what you call a monster i suppose. i've gotten some pretty big and nice plants under some CFLs, although i do agree with you.Quote:
