Gardening by The Moon- a discussion of the technique
Hey Ya'll,
I was thinking about writing a novel in my spare time the last few years, but could never come up with a really cool idea. Then for some reason, out of the blue, wham....an epiphany.
LOLAGAL COPYRIGHTED TREATMENT FOR NOVEL:
Ok...There's this real crusty dude that likes to argue online all the time...until one day he messes with a psycho. Crusty dude makes psycho mad. Psycho goes on rampage, hunts him down. Oh yeah the psycho is like some crazed, benign, genius who has been hunkered down in her family estate since 1976 hacking computers. This chick is really hot and super intelligent. She has all kinds of degrees, money, fast cars etc. By the end of the book everybody is rooting for the psycho....
Well that's my treatment. I am so glad I finally got a good idea for the book. I am going to start writing it as soon as the Moon is in Gemini. Mercury should be making favorable aspects to Uranus and Neptune when starting a new writing projecct for pleasure or publication.
I should have it at the publishers by the new year!:D
I will have to dedicate the book to........................................my mom.

Gardening by The Moon- a discussion of the technique
Well, now that the entertainment portion of the evening is over............
My girls are all doing fine. Made the trek to civilization today and looked in vain for potting soil, pots.
The gal that fell over is OK. Straightened right up. Thanks for holding my hand ya'll.
Still working on photos, got a new battery charger and new rechargeable batteries.
I have noticed a great difference in the plants I germed in Nov. and the Dec. girls.
Moon was in the 3rd quarter in November and I really noticed a VAST difference in the roots. Much more vigorous roots..!
The Dec gals were in the 1st quarter and do not have the same root growth as the others. So I will definitely be doing my planting in the 3rd quarter in future to see if this trend continues to hold.
Thanks to all my friends for stopping by............I appreciate the support and kind comments....

Yup...Ethereal Lola. Unable to prove her concept, so defends herself with bullshit stories. Likely a Virgo. Bummer.
Am still waiting for ANYONE to help this poor misguided etherealist back up her claims, as she is unable to do so herself. C'mon folks...let's see just one legitimate study backing this Advanced concept to it's end.

Please, by all means...describe the mechanism within the seed, clone or plant that triggers this ethereal result.

Advanced Techniques
Challenging growing methods, new techniques, experiments, etc.
Above is the actual wording of the requirements for posting in Advanced Techniques section.
This is an EXPERIMENT.
Shoo fly............go away.
-
Gardening by The Moon- a discussion of the technique
So now it's gone from established technique that you don't understand how anyone could challenge, to an experiment.
Much better. Your aquiescence is greatly appreciated. ;)
As for my going away...doubtful. Especially since we've been thru sooo much together.
When folks stop posting "experiment"s and selling them as fact, I'll gladly return my efforts to helping others thru the rough spots.
Good luck, and may your efforts be a true learning experience.

Axxxxe what about an update on your mysterious gravitating clones? I bet it was that darn cat! Haha
My cat loves to pull little plants up by the roots. He is a devil. Everything you ever heard bad about a siamese rolled into one.:)

Day 28: by my calculations since planting day.
NLHaze 5 inches tall, 8 inches wide. Strong sturdy leaves. 6 nodes. Compact nodes noted. Multiple side shoot branches developing on lower branches.
I am amazed that 6 days after transplanting into 1 gallon bags, roots visible to bottom of bag. Approximately 10 inch long root systems, well developed.
Tried to get that camera of mine to work, can't get it to do anything:wtf: Sorry.
Thanks for stopping by..........

Whatever Lolag, at least one of us can use it in a sentence without having to look it up. Next time I use a word with more that two syllables, I'll be sure to provide you the definition and usage. My bad.

I find this a bit silly myself. I probably would never accept this as fact. I've had around 95% germ success rate. You are going to get the occassional duds that just dont pop.
And to call this an experiment would require you to maintain a control which I didn't see in this post, maybe I missed it; and your variable (germing by the moon) would tell you whether it gave you better success than the control. In addition to this you would probably have to germ a few hundred seeds (maybe more) to get an accurate reading.
If you think it works more power to you but you'll never catch me waiting for a full moon to germinate my seeds. :hippy:

I have no idea whether 'moon planting' has any benefits or not, but a lot of modern farmers still adhere to it, and the Farmer's Almanac still touts it ... OK, my point is, I am not on either side, I just plant whenever I feel like it, BUT, I think insulting someone over something that is regularly practiced, and harmless in every respect, is just rude and obnoxious ... just leave it the fuck alone, and stop arguing ... now, you kids go play nice :smokin:

The only way I could see this working is if planting outside and perhaps the gravitational pull of the new moon draws water higher up in the soil than normal (I still think even this is far fetched but it would make sense). For indoor growing though I cannot see the relevance.
A quick search pulled up a few other forums having this exact same discussion.. in almost the exact same tone/manner as on here. It's pretty funny.

GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS......
Checked on my NLHaze babies and all 3 are girls! Wow! Cool. Never saw that coming!
Decided to name them Faith, Hope, and Charity!
The WRs and COBs are unfortunately, stalled. Still alive, but no growth.
Just got buzzed by the man in a chopper. Odd...weird buzzing sound noted prior to seeing him fly over. Never heard that before. What ever happened to my 500 feet of airspace?!
Sorry to be boring Axxxe. I'll try and think of a good adventure for you. :)

Gardening by The Moon- a discussion of the technique
Well, you all know of my work at UofMiss. Soon after I liberated the G-13 and began cloning it, ran into Willie Nelson. We are old friends from way back. Willie loves G-13. It's one of his favorites. Well Willie wanted some clones and I, of course, never take $$$.
So I tell Willie, aren't you headed to Washington to play at the Carter Inaugural Ball? Well Willie wanted those clones so bad he decided to get me in the White House. The only requirement was to bring enough G-13 for everybody.
So me and Willie sneak up to the roof of the White House and are toking up a storm when suddenly we are busted by Jimmy! Even Willie was a little paranoid, but he just keeps on toking. "Hello, Jimmy" sez I, "Congratulations on your inauguration." Jimmy was really super cool and nice. He never said a word while we toked up, just kept talking about farming and such. It seems the Secret Service had told him we were up there and he came up to keep them off our backs. He's a really cool dude.
As far as I know, Willie and I are the only people to get high in the White House to this day.:D

Yes it is ALOT of fun. When you don't have a set schedule, it's easy to find dates that fit the plants needs. I don't mind waiting a few extra days to plant when it's optimal. I have noticed a big difference in rooting in the 2 plantings. My OrangeBud and Rhino are just not doing anything much.
I still can't believe all the NLHaze babies are GIRLS! I feel like a proud mamma [LolaGal passes out cigars to all.] If this keeps up, I may have to give some up for adoption.

I tried to throw a distraction a while ago and then watched all this.
I just cant hold my breath any longer.
since this has become the opinion thread, i'll throw mine in too.
im an intelligent, analytical individual who also embraces my curiosity and tries to keep a somewhat open mind.
the fact that the farmers almanac notes moon phases should be plenty of legitimacy for anyone.
Do I believe the moon causes the water tables to rise or fall and benefit the outdoor crop farmer? Yes, no doubt, and surely the genesis of this method.
Do I believe this method has any effect on indoor cultivation? No, None, Zero.
Do I believe the Earth and cosmos above have more metaphysical energy than we currently understand? Likely so.
I also occassionally read my horoscope, but don't conduct my day based upon what I read either.
Was I entertained by the carefree and whimsical attitude of our hostess to this thread? Yes, definately.
What I found disturbing was the way she was berated, insulted and treated poorly.
She stated the Mods moved the thread here. Go piss on the Mods parade if it bugs ya so much.
You obviously have so much more important work ahead of you,,,

it was proven through your actions and choice wording, not statistical data.

Did anyone notice my earlier post about the bear in the air?
I've never heard such a loud, weird noise coming from a helicopter before. I heard it about 1/2 mile away, inside my house.?! Anybody else heard anything like that? I would describe it as a loud, humming roar. It was not the rotors. It scraped the roof going by. I'm thinking of getting a kite. :)

The White Flag has been flown, let's give peace a chance........I don't want my thread shut down with arguing, I should not have let anyone get my temper riled. It's that daggum Dalton Blood in my veins.......
I did tell ya'll that my Great Granny Dalton was kin to the bank robbing Daltons of the 1800s.? :) I can hardly go in a bank without the genetic urges taking over! :) I do all my banking at the ATM just to be safe..........(I seem to be the only one in the family who is proud of them) My occupational hazard is, my occupation's not around.........should've been a pirate.

yes,
when i lived in long beach ca (da L-B-C), my place would get buzzed by the 'ghetto-birds' almost nightly. they swept the whole city constantly.
the buzz you heard may have been the turbo-like jet-assist some of these newer, faster birds have.

I don't think there is anything wrong with asking for proof when someone tries to pass something off as fact. I also don't think there is anything wrong for asking for a control when that person then says it's an experiment. I also don't think there is anything wrong with pointing out these 2 things when the person refuses to acknowledge that they could be wrong without any credible evidence to back them.
Rusty might have come across as brash but I feel his intentions were good.
FYI; I'm tired about hearing of the Farmers Almanac. The farmers Almanac is not the end all debate stopper. As a matter of fact 1/3 - 1/2 of the things in the almanac are just ridiculous or plain wrong. Personally when trying to back someone up I wouldn't source a reference that is known to contain as much bad information as it does good.
Horticulture/agriculture is a science. Let's practice good science and not hoodoo voodoo.
