homemde sheet metal bent into a reflector
you might want to look into a good exhaust fan. if that doesn't work maybe a reflector with air cooling.

yea i got to make a cool tube i got the hurricane glass already just need to finish it. im lazy lol. but yea should be posting pics tonight my buddy just got here so im gonna use his iphone lol.
already bigsmoke! lol.
ok. here is an update. i replanted the plants (all but one that was in the biggest pot) two days ago. i was sick as a dog yesterday so i didn't post. sorry. i was throwing up and sleeping all day! anyhow, i used 8" pots, i used miracle grow potting soil and perlite. i made a 3:1 mix, respectively. the roots looked white and healthy. i think they definitely were ready to move on up.
they got waterd/fed with mg and superthirve.
i'll post pics for all this stuff and re-update right after this
pic 1 - superthrive, obviously, small bottle, 2 oz i think?
pic 2- 8" pot with quarter inside.
pic 3 - 8" pot with superthrive outside.
pic 4 - perlite
pic 5 - potting soil
to be continued....

edit: labeled pics wrong
sweetness luckily you know since you live in tx its been cool so i keep my windo open and it keeps the temps down around 85 84 which aint bad
so today, i get up feeling immensely better than yesterday. i was thinking about the plants being pretty small (my area is not big mind you) and some advice (lolagal) convinced me to let the plants veg while i'm gone for the next month. so i am.....but i decided to LST them.
i'm not sure if it's how the pros do it, but it's how i'm doing it. i grabbed some landscaping wire from lowes along with pots (wal-mart actually), soil, perlite, superthrive and super bloom (no relation).
so i bent the plants over and used the wire to make them stay and then used a horseshoe-shaped piece to pin the tops down. we'll see what happens i guess. i'll post some pics. i have some of the stuff i bought too, so the LST ones might follow....
pic 1 - landscaping wire
pic 2 - super bloom by green light, 12-55-6, .10% chleated iron
pic 3 - one of the plants in new pot
pic 4 - garden

and as promised, episode II concludes with the LST pics. hope you guys approve. it's always a work in progress!
pic 1 - my attempt at LST.
pic 2- a little closer.
pic 3 - the garden now.
pic 4 - and the garden with the rogue.

you bent them bad girls hardcore you need to train them before you get them that far over lol
Shake IMO let the girls veg and get a little bigger before LST. They aren't real big yet and strain may be too much for your brother to handle by himself with no experience while you're gone. I think that was a run on sentence!
I never tried LST but I read you sorta bend the tip gradually with a piece of hemp string or something. You want quality right? Patience weedhopper.......
lola, i agree that they may be a little small. but the space i am working with is not that big. it's like 27 1/2 tall, 20 wide, and 16 deep or something. so i can let them get too big and unruly.
smoke, from everything i've read you can just bend them right over. i've seen people just use their fingernail and kinda cut the stalk and bend it over, practically breaking it. these bent over fine. just make sure you water at least one hour before, preferrably the day before.
if they have problems i'll let them up. i appreciate the concern and heed the advice. and thank you very much for following along, i hope both of you continue to!

hey -shake, just wanted to say thanks for takin' up the slack on
my thread while i was away, good vibes comin' your way man!
also, i would strongly suggest you learn to clone now, first, so you
will have a head-start on your next crop, second, because you must
learn to clone if you really want to be self-sufficient. and it's just not
that hard to do.
oh yeah, personally, i'd stay away from the Lowryders and any other
auto-flowering strains. the auto-flowering trait comes from Ruderalis
genetics and no matter how fast they grow, they rob the grower of
the ability to propagate asexually, 1 seed, 1 plant, period.
anyway, thanks again for answering questions for me while i was 'out'.
anytime bozo! just glad that you are back!
i definitely want to clone. i need to put together a little clone/veg box. i'm definitely going with you're cloner. best on the market i hear!
i think i'll work on putting something together tomorrow.
and the plan is/was for me and my bro to do a 600w HPS with seperate floro. tube clone/veg area. either ebb & flow or DWC. can't decide. want to do multiple stains simultaneously. i'm gathering info and pricing stuff out. i'm excited.
the current crop is looking pretty good. i think i'm gonna look into some Y splitters and and paint the inside white. and i obvisouly started LST.
anyhow, glad you're back!

thanks man.Quote:

there's just a lot less that can go wrong. might be the best way with
a multi-strain grow also as different strains have different requirements
and it's a lot easier to set up seperate resevoirs for DWC than for e&f
systems.
and believe me, you'll be amazed at the growth rate!
btw, if you go back through my garden you'll see my struggle up the hydro
learning curve with DWC. (here's a pic of one of my bins which i got at Lowes
and which are rated to hold 27 qts so they hold 5 gallons with room to spare
and being black, they are light proof from day one)
awesome little grow
Semper Fi from a disabled Marine.

i've definitely decided to go with DWC. i'm now concentrating my efforts on researching that. the grow setup size is the perpetual variable at the moment, so that makes it hard to nail down the specifics (which dries me crazy might i add!).Quote:

i'm sorry to hear that. i truly am. but thank you for your courage. i appreciate your sacrifice from the bottom of my heart.
i was in 1997-2002. what was your mos? mine was 6324, avionics on hueys and cobras.
good to have a fellow marine on the boards and following the grow. like i said, there will be some pics here in a bit.
stay tuned.

Thanks
I was a 6172 CH46E crewchief and than I lat moved to 6176 Osprey crewchief. Just like you I am sure, I was part of a few MEU's and worked with alot of skid kids....I was on MCAS NEW River with a few units
yes sir! i went on one MEU and was deployed to okinawa the second time. i was attached to a 46 squadron. can't remember the squadron number. the call sign was "lady ace". damn memory.
what are your thoughts on the osprey? i never rode in one. i don't know if you remember when those two osprey's crashed in arizona, by phoenix i think? around 2000-01. i was out at WTI in yuma at the time. they used our hangar to reconstruct the wreckage. it was pretty sad. the osprey is a pretty big bird and there was hardly nothing left. that was still when they were in testing i think, or just barely done with it. when the whole safety controversy was still going on.
i think i remember hearing that they cancelled the program. is that correct? like i said, i think i remember. damn weed. lol.
i was in the west coast. camp pendleton. never made it to the east but would have loved a med float!
okay, not to hijack my own thread. update, with pics, to follow immediately...

okay, it's been a few days since the last update so i figured it's time to check in. thanks to all the friends following, new and old!
our adventure continues with 6, unknown sex perps, in the grow cab. they seem to be responding fine to the LST. they are growing pretty well considering they are only under 4 CFLs! i'm thinking of getting Y spitters. maybe this weekend.
also, before i forget, i ditched the foil and painted the inside of the cab flat white. i'm gonna add a few more coats though.
i fed them yesterday. the cycle i've been using has been water/food, water/food, water. repeat. this is on an as needed schedule. they are eating full strength mg. maybe i'll get some better veg nutes this weekend too. (it's kinda hard to convience the wife to let me spend more money on frank, short for frankenstein, her pet name for my project (or the mothership! lol) so we'll see i guess. maybe i'll tell her i need nutes for christmas!)
i have kept an eye on how they respond and they seem to be doing okay. i also supplement with superthrive. ~1/2 cap full per gallon. when they get just water i usually give them twice what they get when they are getting fed as well.
i'm open to feedback! it's actually welcome, so please, even if it's negative, just be courteous.
i'll be attaching numerous posts with pics to follow.
will they continue to thrive? will the lack of light hamper them? are they gluttons and eating too much food?
stay tuned next week folks, same weed time, same weed channel...

pic 3 - close-up of growth. they seem to be doing okay. no?
pic 4- more growth-up.
pic 5 - unruly second batch (before discipline).
is there a way to PM?
Yeah I lost friends on both of the recent crash's.
I was also at WTI as a student at that time...wow cool we were there at the same time.....
I love the V22, I have some flight time flying in it and have numerous friends over in Iraq right now with the V22
PM ur email if u dont' have a problem with that....
awesome setup man...I am gonna get a pc stealth going after my shrooms are done and ready for study...
I waiting on the Michigan medical program to get started so I can grow legally. I got 2 conditions listed on the medical qualification. So I should get my MMJ card
here are some more pics. sorry i got a little carried away. i know i like grow logs with lots of pics. anyway.
pic 1 - unrulies ruled! second batch "spread" down.
pic 2 - did i mention i broke off the top of one of the plants? did you notice in the pics before? are you even paying attention?
is there anyway to save the top? i looks pretty good still where the new growth is. the fan leaves are dying though. i have it in a shot glass with water under the lights right now. any ideas?
pic 3 - a little closer of the battle wound.
pic 4 - another growth-up, of the second batch this time. they seem to be getting pretty bushy! not to bad eh?
pic 5 - the current garden.

same here.:thumbsup::jointsmile:
for real i hear both a yall i got like 8 palnts right now about to go into 12/12 pretty sweet shit. weed never fails to amaze me or mabye just cause im very baked idk. but either way its an honor to call my self a grower as with all of yall.
are yall dead
not dead. maybe i'll post some more pics later. after i bent the plants over i pinned some of the shade leaves open. they are growing like crazy. i can't wait til i can double my light bulbs. i think the white paint might have helped too. still got another couple of coats to go.
there should be a clone/veg box coming shortly. i am currently having car problems (needs an alternator) so a lot of this might get put on hold. so who knows...
i'll keep you guys posted. like i said, i might put some more pics up later.
-shake
yea sorry just wonderin been really quiet up in the boards
yeah it has been kind of quite. i haven't decided if i want to take the plants out for a photo session or not. maybe later.....i'm too blazed. it seems like they have grown sizeably though.
-shake
yea dude smoked like 10 bowls and drank a 12 pack so im pretty f-ed up lol yea you should post pics and then look at mine mine are huge
Looks like your grow is coming along, not bad for a cardboard box and 4 CFL's ;)
Good luck!
thanks llama! i plan on adding 4 more bulbs i think. and a couple more coats of flat white. and a clone/veg box is in the works. and then the DWC setup.
i'll probably build the bubble cloner first, since i won't be harvesting anytime soon. let some clones veg in there, and then a little later build the DWC and move the clones and start the (hopefully) perpetual cycle.
okay, okay bigsmoke. i'll get some pics up here in a minute. no bs.

hey shake, just thought i'd stop in. log looks great, hope ya have a nice girl/guy ratio when the lights switch. this whole grow makes me wanna do another closet session myself. well nice work so far, ill be sure to check on the progress.
mgm
thanks mr. goodmorning02! i am trying. i started off with like $20 and have invested approximately $150 since. i should have just done it right to begin with. but i do have a lot of factors that kept me from doing so. the next grow will be proper. but it is a good learning experience. i cannot complain. and more than anything it's helping me with my patience!
okay. okay. i'm going to take pics right this second. they will be up in a few.
-shake
for sure dude ihope everything goes well with your grow so far mine is going fantastic im debating on wheter or not to switch to 12/12 cause im movin intomy apartment inlike a week and i dont want to mess themup movin em so i dont know
Haha, 4 more bulbs is gonna make it pretty crowded in there. The more the better, but don't compromise the structural integrity of that cardboard box. Think the fans will be able to handle the added heat?Quote:

i've got the pics taken and just have to upload them. i've got company right now. they are coming though.
i think the fans can handle it. the temps have been cold here lately, so the box stays in the high 60's/low 70's for the most part. i can replace one of the fans. i should/need too anyway. one of the cheap car fans quit running a while ago. and the box should be able to handle it too. if not, i'll build a new one. it's only cardboard.
-shake
okay folks. here are some pictures that i promised.
i watered/fed them today. i also pinned them open a little more. and i removed the landscaping wire from the base of the plants....almost too late! yikes! luckily i think i got them in time. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES DON'T FORGET TO REMOVE THE WIRE!
pic 1-5 5 plants. more to follow...

Wow Shake looking great. My how the children have grown since last I saw them!:)
