GG84 - Thanks for the heads up on the flush. I will take my time tomorrow and do it properly with 3x the volume of the soil. I have a feeling that the pH issue is most likely my problem.

Swisha - I checked out your log again, looking great! That lady has really taken off. I was comparing your growth to mine and it was very interesting.

icbh - Sound like you are in a "sticky" situation over there. Haha, I love playing in the dirt! As for nodes, I believe I cut off what would be node #7, so 6 I guess? When I take everything out tomorrow for my flush I will snap some pics of the undergrowth. It is really crazy under there to be honest. New growth everywhere ... nodes coming from nodes coming from nodes haha. As for the pH, it naturally comes out of the faucet at like 7.2 or so, I had just added some lime because I am an idiot and didn't have a pH meter yet and thought it was too low. No nutes yet.

Thanks for the info on the SCROG but the link to 40/60 didn't work. Post again?

I'll let everyone know how things turn out tomorrow after the flush and such. And I'll get some pics up of the undergrowth so maybe someone can suggest where I could take some clones from?

Just a quick note to myself and others that I watered today. In fact I flushed. The pH going in was about 7.3, the pH coming out was about 6.4. I am happy with that and I am hoping it will solve some of what seem to be pH problems. It had been 6 or 7 days since I last watered and some of the lower/internal leaves seemed to be wilting, so it was clear that I had covered the over-watering issue. It seems that suddenly the 2nd place girl is showing a lot of new growth, so thats a good thing.

Had to raise the lights again too. :thumbsup: That makes me happy haha.

The goddamn square pots I ordered are on backorder. NOT COOL! I wanted those asap since I can see the roots attempting to come out the bottom, so that is bumming me out. Patience is a true virtue they say; Apparently I still need to learn that.

I didn't snap any pics because the ladies were soaked and looked ridiculous to say the least. Tomorrow night after they brush of some water and perk back up I'll grab some, with the under growth and such. I think I have identified a couple good clone potentials.

Assuming 2nd place keeps pushing hard I will top her either tomorrow or the day after.

Bored tonight watching all this election BS, so I snapped some pics and I'm going to throw them up. They are as follows:

No runt this time, she just got watered and looked PATHETIC haha. After watering (actually proper pH flush) both plants perked up well, even 2ndPlace is showing great new growth and the low leaves are actually perking up. I'm starting to think its just the ridiculous growth of the upper leaves that is weighing them down.

Let me know what you think.

now youre talkin. looks to me like #1 has at least 2 or 3 or 4 branches that are about 3-4" long. time to take clones. also time to top #2 and strech those lower branches out.
i would cut off that little bit of fluffy little leaves at the base of #1. then start by cutting the branch off where it meets the stock. lets say you use the lowest branch to the right in pic#1, you should remove that small leaf with the brown spots. in fact i never use the leaves going up the side of the branch, i only use the top leaves of each branch. make sure you take the fan leaf off when you take the branch off. then just follow the instructions of whatever cloning method youre using. make sure you record the date and mark them separate from the ones you will take from #2. you should have roots in about 2 weeks. easy stuff.

is that bubble cloner up and running? cause you could just throw your clones in there now with 5.8-6.2pH water and add nutes when you receive them. update on my end: i cloned a branch that was about 1/2" thick at the stem, so i bet you could at least get them started without nutes. i'll have to post pics later. sorry hope i'm not hijacking.

ichb707 - I topped 2ndPlace lady tonight. I think it was a good choice. Your clone advice was key! I am nervous so I am going to wait till I get my nutes on Monday (scheduled delivery my friends) even though people are suggesting the bubble cloner by itself.

GG84 - You can hijack my thread anytime, just go for it!! Post pics anytime you want my friend.

Nutes come on Monday, pots come on Tuesday. I will clone and re-pot next week, sooo, that flowering date is set back for sure. Let's call it the 15th. I'd like to know sex before Thanksgiving, but we will see.

okay the 1st pic is a little stringy plant i got from a friend. it was really slow to flower and in bad health when i received it, so i wanted a clone to see if i could do better from scratch with it. this was put in the cloner 10 days ago i think, and roots in 5 for sure.crappy pic.

second pic is really nice bag seed, taken as a clone from another friend's ScrOG. more of a branch, really. this is the strain that i'm flowering currently. i posted a pic on here of one of the side branch buds, i think. this was put in the cloner 7 days ago and roots in day 5 also. again, crappy picture, i apologize.

GG84 - I love the pics of the clone. Both of those look like ridiculous little fellas to clone but they came out great. That tiny one is unbelievable! And all just normal pH water too? Amazing what those bubble cloners can do. 5 days for each of those ... amazing. Being my first time and all, I'm just going to wait another 4 days and clone on Monday when I get my nutes. :thumbsup:

Alright so I topped the 2nd place girl last night and she looks pretty healthy. The #1lady is looking great with her two new main stems growing up strong! Also her other growth is booming. Is it true the strongest growers tend to be males?

I have yellow spots on a few leaves of the #1lady, which is worrying me. If they get worse then I guess I'll figure something out, but so far it appears to be a deficiency of some sort. I figure i've got to get some nutes soon anyways. God so much going on in my fucking head right now! I'm getting a little nutty.

Actually, things are growing so quickly that I am starting to worry a little about height restrictions. I'm ok right now BUT, if I clone on Monday (4 more days), let it recover for 3 or 4 days and we are talking about the 15th already at the best. DAMN IT. Can I re-pot once I start flowering? Like a couple of days in? Otherwise I am worried I am going to A) run out head room or B) run out of root room. Either way something has to give!

Also I'm going away for 4 days for thanksgiving. I think I am going to have to put up some sort of screen so they don't grow into the lights. It might hurt it for a couple days BUT I don't have much of a choice I suppose. Any suggestions on leaving plants for a few days? Esp during flower stretch?

Any suggestion on the spots? Or the transplant at early flowering? So many questions, sorry guys.

as far as soil goes, i'm kinda clueless. however, i do have in my possession the "grower's bible" by jorge cervantes. this helps to give some feel for soil grows for me.
dunno about those spots, but you can use planter size to limit height.
that screen might be a good idea if you're gonna be away four days.

A few new developments. The #1Lady had some weird yellow spotting on some of the way lower leaves and a couple of upper leaves. For some reason it didn't concern me a whole lot. After the pH flush things seemed alright and after extensive research I am thinking it is possible it is a little nitrogen deficiency? They are almost a month old and I was told that is about the length of time for those "time release nutes" to run out ... and they are surely old enough to start taking some juice.

SO i went and got some pretty general nutes. Some lame ass brand name (scotts or something i'm too lazy to get up and look) with 10-15-10. Now, I understand high P is necessary for flowering, not veg, so it would appear that I have chosen the wrong type. But I plan on throwing her into flowering tomorrow or the next day so I am not too worried about it. I put probably 1/8th strength in tonight with the watering, so we will see what happens. At least it has some N in it so that will help if that is the problem.

I found a "local" hydro store, so I am going to go there tomorrow and get my pH down so I can start the cloner tomorrow even without the cloning nutes. Very exciting in day in the neighborhood.

I wanna switch to flowering RIGHT NOW, but patience is a virtue. Or so they say ... I'll clone tomorrow, switch on maybe tues or wed and let the fun begin! I have the 2700K lights all ready so I am ready to go.

Anyone have suggestions on lighting for the clone box? I figure maybe a 26W or two, since they don't need a whole lot?

ha ha! conference call... :jointsmile: you'll do great, man. and if not, you can take clones up to 2 weeks into flower. hell, i took that tiny clone 40+ days into flower! besides, it's all a learning experience.

for mine, i use 2- 23W (they're either 5000 or 6500 kelvin). i mist the leaves with pH'ed water about 3-4 times a day, and use clear 16oz glasses as humidity domes. good to hear you're blazing ahead without clone nutes! au natural, ha ha! have you heard of the technique involving removing some of the outer stem with a razor to expose the xylem (giving more area for roots to sprout)? if not, i can clue you in. its always worked for me. actually, the opium clones i got have not rooted yet, and i didn't do this to them. :(
not saying that clones aren't possible without it, but it improves the strike rate for me.

So I watered a couple of days ago with that new 10-15-10 fertilizer, thinking that I would be helping out with a nitrogen deficiency. WRONG. Looks like I may have burned them a bit. I only did 5 drops a gallon, and they suggest 7 drops a quart! Anyways, I must have fucked something up, maybe the fertz raised the pH or something?

I came home today and on the #1Lday there is a new growth piece with dried and yellowed tips. I am not sooo concerned about this, but I am more concerned that I may have hurt the new growth on the 2ndPlace girl. Where I cut the top, it is very slow to grow, very little new growth where there should be the two new tops ... and almost appears as if one may be getting dry too which would not be good. If those die off I am just going to say F it and throw it into flowering.

Also, I read a post where stinky said wait 2 weeks after topping before flowering, she was very adamant about this. Needless to say, it has been 10 days and I am a bit eager to start flowering (due to height constraints). Anyone have any suggestions about when I can start?

Things are going well with the ladies, other then the fact that 2ndPlace is slowwww to grow the new tops. I get my new larger pots tomorrow, so I will repot tomorrow night. I switched to flowering this evening at least to tell sex. I thought I saw some female preflowers on the big girl soooo that would be REALLY exciting. Even the runt is huge now so it was definitely time to switch things.

Cloning is happening on Saturday. I keep wimping out and making excuses, but I am missing a few important parts and I want it to go really well so I want to be prepared. At least at this point there will be PLENTY of nodes to chop!

Can't wait to see your perpetual grow! I'd like to do that too, but we'll see how it goes!

Came home after first day of flowering and I am pretty sure the big one is a boy. Had some ball like things right where the tops split. On top of that I went to repot and the 2 big ones went well but the smaller one (that has been growing well lately) I fucked up big time. The rootball did not come out well. And I just made a mess.

Now I am just praying on the 2ndPlace lady to show me some loving. Oh and a little help from god.

How do people feel about putting them back into veg for another week or so? Will that stress them too much? It's only been 3 days of flowering. It's just that the 2nd place girl probably could use some more branch growth, especially on the topping.

Man the log is coming along nicely.....bro id just leave them in Flower....If your only gonna throw them in veg for another 1-2 week, here is something to consider....first the stress is gonna stop their growth for a few days 5-7 days....Then even if you go 2 extra week you might only see a small size difference in growth.....

You hae plenty of plants.....in post 100 they all look of good size and health....why mess with a nice grow! But its all your choice in the end....keep up the nice work.:thumbsup:

I did some reading up on the topic after I posted and people have definitely agreed with you. It takes almost a week to revert, and it is stressful, so at this point I am just going to leave them in flower. As soon as I am POSITIVE that the big one is a male, ill chop it and make some more room for the lady.

They are all in good health, even the runt is looking pretty good, so I am not too worried.

Nice Gro with the CFL's

So things seem to be going pretty well. I've gotten over the fact that I won't have all ladies. I am still not positive on the big one, but the 2ndPlace girl definitely is a CHICK so thats a good thing. Obviously the runt being a little less mature is slower to show it's sex. Time will tell!

Has anyone found that the first place to see sex is where you top it? I feel like the ones I topped showed sex the day I started flowering right at that topping point, but has shown nothing else yet.

I also set up my clone box, so that is all set and ready to go. I am thinking I will clone tomorrow night, but we'll see how it goes ... sometimes I am just so damn tired when I get home from work that I just feel like going to bed.

One question before the pics:

The 2nd Place girl has tons of undergrowth but there are some huge fan leaves that I feel are sucking up all the light. Does anyone have any experience with maybe tying down the fan leaves or tying them into a little bundle so that they take less space? I know they are the source of energy for the plant, but at the same time I'd love for some of that inner growth to actually ... well grow. Any help, let me know.

its probably better if you just tuck them down and out of the way rather than tying them down or together. can't wait for pics!

I didn't have a lot of time so I couldn't pull them all out separately and couldn't even move the lights for better pics so hopefully you can see enough. They are as follows:

1) Outside of new clone box
2) A little view of the inside of the box with the bubble cloner. I have the thermo on top just because I am testing out the temps and such with the fan off/on with the heating pad etc etc.
3) Flower room. #1Lady front let, 2ndPlace in back, runt in front right.
4) Same pic little different angle.

Needless to say these ladies are getting out of control haha. I've had to raise the lights almost every day!

So i finally admitted to myself that the big one is a boy. Multiple balls on multiple nodes kind of gave it away so I said to hell with him and chopped his ass down.

Good news is that 2ndPlace girl is growing strong and showing more pistols :thumbsup:, so we definitely have a girl here. The little runt (who is actually quite big) is showing the beginning of something ... not sure if it is male or female yet though, I'll probably know in a couple of days.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for stopping by. I'll post more information and pics when I am done cloning. For now you can check out a few of these:

1) Balls on the big boy (just chopped).
2) Garden before the chopping.
3) A pretty fan leaf, look how indica that baby is!
4) The room after the chop (i lowered some of the lights so there will be light going in on the sides for the moment, hopefully more coverage)
5) Pistols on the girl. Tough to see, I circled them but still tough. Hopefully better pics next time.

those leaves are big solar panels, i would just let them do their thing. with kush i usually start picking those off the last week or two to let some light down the the lower branches to help get rid of the lighter pale green.

my lambs bread is now 2 weeks into flower, just showed the first buds last night, about 3ft tall and look great. the sour diesel for the new room is topped, 2 days into veg, and from what all my friends that have grown it before keep saying, its been veging for 2 days too long. the new room wont be done until fri so we'll see how big they get with a 4-5 day veg.

my new security cam has a motion sensor that takes a video if somebody opens the door then emails me a pic of the person then my email sends an alert to my phone. no matter where i am if the door opens i know about it within a minute.

Actually I got two boys. So the big queen is all by herself now (minus the clones in a different box :thumbsup:) She is loving all the space though, you can see where she was a little hurt from being against the wall. And she gets 220 watts to herself!

Hopefully things keep movin along well and we'll have a monsters in a few weeks!

So things have been going well lately. I finally took 2 clones after days of being scared shitless. I only took two to see how well it would work and if it goes well I'll take another one (I think 4 is probably my max in the flower room, so I will go with 3 for now). I think they are a little small, but so far they look pretty good. No roots yet but it has only been a little over 24 hours. A few questions for the bubble cloner ... maybe GG84 could give me some personal experience?

1) How often should I change the solution?
2) How much would you say the solution drops over a course of 4 or 5 days?
3) What is the ideal temperature and humidity % of the clone room?

I think I am in decent shape, but we shall see in the next few days. I have to admit though for my first experience with cloning ... I'd say the most difficult part of the entire thing is attempting to pick out good clones. I feel like all clone guides are from people that have some huge mother plant that is completely mature with alternating nodes and 1000s of beautiful options for clones. I would have loved to have just seen a picture of some noob doing their first clone run haha. Oh well. Other then that the actual process of doing it so far hasn't been too difficult. Just my opinion of course.

Anyways, I snapped some pics so here they are:

Needless to say she is growing wonderfully. Tons of bud sites everywhere, white hairs coming out of lots of nodes and where I topped is growing furiously. She loves having the house to herself :D
