I gave them a feeding last night of their 3rd week flower nutes acording to the FF chart. They got 2 tsp. Tiger Bloom, 2 tsp. Grow Big, 1 Tbl. Big Bloom, 1/4 tsp. Beasty Blooms, and 1 tsp. PH Down to 1 gallon of water.
I also trimmed off some of the fan leaves like I usually do at this time now that the buds are starting to realy grow and producing their own leaves. I do this so light gets to more of the buds lower down the plants plus the canopy was so thick light was not making past the upper canopy.

Interesting.
Is that safe to do?
I mean those leaves produce a lot of building blocks for the whole plant to use. Do you have any experience of doing this before?
If it is effective I will have a go at it as well as my fan leaves block a lot of light to otherwise promising bud formations lower down. Worried about stress, growth stunts and that is might not be overall effective. If it is I would gladly follow your exemple.

SsnStelth,
I think I vegged for 6 weeks, Now I wish I did 5 weeks of veg. Basically I normally do a 6 week veg but these plants seem to be sativa dominate and just took off, they were 12 to 18 inches tall when I put them into flower.
Puffzter,
Yes this is somthing I have done every grow that I have done. And I get the same question every time to. And every time I don't notice any bad side effects. Infact I feel it helps! yes the plant needs to photosynthasize , but when you have huge fan leaf's blocking all the light to the lower portion of the plants the big fan leaves are making up for what the bottom is missing and stunting growth below. So what I feel is happening when I do this, the plant just lost a portion of its ability to produce chloraphyle so to compinsate the buds begin to grow faster and bigger. I say this with confidence because of my last grows yeilds were very high, so I ain't changing nothing in my style of growing.
Thanks for checking in guys.

JG, your ladies are super fly TNT, brother! And, thanks for those awesome nature shots of your BC vacation! Those are some incredible vistas for certain, and I imagine they are simply awe-inspiring in person. One day I will have the pleasure of traveling to that part of the world.
I appreciate the insight into the fan leaf trimming. All I have ever heard and read informed me not to cut the fan leaves, but I have not had an opportunity to test this supposed fact. I'm glad to see you have had such opportunity and your experience has taught you otherwise. My dad always told me - "don't believe everything you read or hear." Looks like he was right again!
As always, your log is very informative. Thanks for sharing it! Have a great weekend!

Last Night I had to modify my grow box to accommodate my plants!
They are still going up and had outgrow the highest point I could hang the light. In fact 3 were higher than the bottom of the light. I had some space available above the box and was able to add another 11'' in total height to the box giving me a total of 6.5' of direct light to the plants. I think I will be able to make it now if they stop stretching soon. I did consider Late LST but I do not have any Horizontal space and with the extreme crampness of the box any strings or wires will increase the chance of breaking something when moving them around during the rest of the grow.
I did give them a watering of plain water and seem to be requesting this every 4 days now. Keep in mind I still have them in 2 gallon buckets and seem to be doing fine and showing no signs of being root bound. I know this sounds weird "6' plants in 2 gallon buckets" Well the only thing I can think of is between the FF nute program and the use of MG Moister Control soil is working similar to a hydro grow and the plants are receiving all there needs in a small space. When I cut down my last crop and removed the soil from the root balls the actual root systems did not take up that much space. This is just an opinion and observation.
The buds on the plants are starting to really grow and look very promising I am going to wait on pics just to give a better week by week update and comparison.
Also thanks for the support and stopping by Hydro and Jake

Well after seeing Pufftzer's log and seeing his male plant un-potted. I decided I am going to transplant my babies to 5 gallon buckets tonight but modified by not filling the entire bucket, therefore adding only about a gallon and a half of grow space. This will add 75% more space than current and should be enough to put root boundness at bay. While not adding to much height to the overall height of the plants.
My feelings are this should go smooth and I will post pics of this delicate process tonight when lights come on. But for now its off to get some soil.

Tonight I transplanted all 12 plants to 5 gallon buckets and all went well no broken branches or damaged roots
First pic is after I added 3 inches of soil to the bottom of the pot.
Second pic is when I used an old long knife and went around the side of the entire bucket to loosen the soil, I then lifted the plant at the base of the stalk. Tapped on the bucket edge and fell right off. I then placed gently in new bucket and filled with soil.
Third pic is before soil was added
Forth pic job completed and watered with weak nute solution of 1 tsp. Grow Big, 1 tsp. Tiger Bloom, 1 Tbs Big Bloom and 1/4 tsp Beastie Blooms.
Sorry no forth pic

:)
Be aware though that you can't treat soil as coco and I don't wanna be a reason for you experiencing slow or impared growth ;) . Plants will much easier get rootbound in soil. I am sure you will be ok and I am certain you know what you are doing. Just saying that you can't copy techniques used for coco to a soil grow.
Now having said that your pots will still be fine I think. Soil normally take around a gallon medium per month the plant is alive to stay clear of rootbound problems so a plant that will grow for 3-4 months will be ok with 4 gallons of soil. In coco you can make it very well with half that even though you will have to water very often.
Looking good m8.

Well I am 4 weeks into this grow and now the buds are really starting to go as you can see.
The transplant went well and showed no signs of stress only more growth:thumbsup:
Also from this point on I am only going to take them out of the box for watering, it has become to dangerous to move them around now. They are just to tall now and I cant risk breaking a branch at this point. Hell I just may end up watering them in the box and not taking them out till they are done.
But as you can see by the picks they are looking very sweet. Trichs are just starting to appear and there is a sweet smell starting to come from the box.

Well this is the sit back and wait time of the grow so I have been scouring the Internet for seeds and reviews and have come across allot of interesting strains but one in particular has caught my attention. MATANUSKA THUNDERFUCK.
I have read all the history on it that I can find, I know that it is only available in cloan form and maybe extinct:( ,and that seeds have to be a cross since no male MTF is available. I have found a couple of reputable seed banks that have crosses available. Sagarmatha seeds ( Matanuska Mist, and Matanuska Tundra ) and Reeferman seeds (Kodiak Gold) I have found the Sagarmatha seeds, but cannot find the Reeferman (Kodiak Gold) anywhere.
I am not sure about the Kodiak Gold there are conflicting reports on it. One says it is not a cross with MTF It is a pure strain from Kodiak Island, then others saying it is a cross of MTF and a strain from Kodiak Island
The Sagarmatha seeds are not Cheap by any means at around $330.00 for 10 seeds at hemp depot.
I was wondering if anyone knows and or has grown any one of these 2 strains before and have a report and hopefully some pics not from the website.

I have not grown it but I have smoked it and ATF/MTF is absolutely amazing.
I have Jack the Ripper going, a pack of NLxBlueberry seeds, and once both the NL/BB and the JtR are established, the MTF from Sagamartha is my third planned grow. From what I understand its pretty indica-y so it should grow nice and squat too.
If I remember correctly from my research on the strain StinkyAttic used to grow a mean strain of it a year or so back... search Matanuska on the boards and you should be able to find some of her old stuff on it

Wow I learned allot since my Last post:)
I went to the Sagamatha web page and found a list of authorized distributors. Sagarmatha will not sell to distributors in Canada or the US. Plus on top of that none of their distributors except for one will even ship to the US. The ONLY AUTHORIZED DISTRIBUTER that will ship to the states is Hemphouse.com/uk.
They have Matanuska Tundra for 70.00 Pounds UK. That is much cheaper and explains why they are so expensive at Hempdepot. Hempdepot must be buying them from a distributor then reselling with a large markup to cover their costs. What all this is telling me is if you find Sagamatha seeds that are not from their list of distributors and not paying a premium price like hempdepot they are more than likely not the real thing or a knock off of it (this is just my opinion after this long dive into the Internet).
Well I have some time before I place an order so please leave any feedback so I make the best decision before buying.
Thanks

Last night I fed my babies and everthing is going as well as expected. The feeding consisted of 1 tsp. of Grow Big, 2 tsp. of Tiger Bloom, 1Tbls. of Big Bloom, and 1/4 tsp of Beastie Blooms to 1 gallon of water.
Well I have decided not to take the plants out of the box any more untill finished they are just to tall. I was doing something the other night and took 2 plants out no problem. But when I went to put them back one top got caught on a wire hanging on the outside and snapped about a foot down, well for those of you that have grown you will notice that where the stalk is wide it is also hollow. Well the reason I say this is where it snaped. When I got over the initial aww fuck!!!! I took the top and moved it back to the original position and heared the slightest pop and low and behold the stalk poped back into position as if nothing happened. I did not have to put a splint or anything to hold it in place untill it healed. When I checked yesterday everthing was fine as if it never happened. Needless to say lesson learned so the stay where they are for now.
They are starting to put on weight and looking beuitiful as usuall. But this box situation may put a damper on taking pictures because the only way I can check is to take plants out. I am able to water from underneith the canopy. I am able to look up and see enough to judge the health but no I cannot see those big beuitiful buds forming up their:( This is fine now that I have a few grows under my belt, it is not like my first grow where you check them every 2 miniutes :D But this is going to get interesting when havest time approches.
I am able to begin to judge what my final yeild may be and it is looking good I feel I will break 2lbs. again but by how much is yet to be determined.

Well I watered last night with plain water, everything is looking good:thumbsup:
Buds are beginning to swell and trich production is starting to go into high gear. By the looks of what I can see when I look up the plants are forming big dense buds. I am able to water from underneath the canopy pretty easily so I am not having to move the plants and they seem to be supporting each other so far with no sign of needing support rods, ''Very strong stalks''

The Cannabis Fairy that I will call ''Mary Jane'' came by and gifted me a HydroFarm 1000 watt ballast and air cooled hood that didn't work. Well I took it apart today and checked the wiring and found someone had converted it to run on 208 volts. I know what the previous owner did now and is unsafe so I will not go into detail about that.
So after discovering this I went to the local Hydroponic store and got a Hortilux ''EYE'' High Performance Growth Bulb, Super HPS, 1000 Watt bulb for $110.00. Well I have it installed now and is working beautifully, Box is staying nice and cool with the hood working like it should, this should help them for the next 4 weeks:)

New stuff is the berries, right? 1000 watts is nice and powerful, grow anything with light like that.
