Updates from 7-28-08, since the server's been down.
3 definite males, pulled em out and threw em away. 3 definite females, and 2 that i'm keeping my eye on but that i'm fairly sure are female.
First pic is the 5 girls left. Second and third are the only good close ups I could get of females, fourth is a blurry balls shot.
Gonna transplant into 3 gallons tonight I think, will post back with updated pics after.

Great work so far!! I am just getting ready for my first grow and JTR was also my choice. The onl thing I will be doing different is growing in coco with a 600 HPS. Should be interesting to comapre notes afterwards.
I was also looking at those leds and was thinking about getting 2 of them. I could then run 800 watts for the cost of 200 watts. I would love to see them come down a little in price frst though and am waiting to see a couple more grows. Im really looking to see if you finish up with nice dense buds or if they finish loose.
yeah grow, the plants all started off with good, dense growth, but theyre nowhere near uniform anymore and I worry about the procyon / cfls ability to penetrate the foliage...
I'm assuming that this weekend would be a good time to cut a few clones and make myself a mommy? that means another trip to home depot... yayy, havent been in a few weeks
PS -- transplanted into 3 gallons last night, went very well, am using every square inch of floor space now... definitely trying scrog next time, itll be nice to have a little more control over how the girls grow...
update later w pics from last night
DrSpiggity
hey spoof,
i dont know why you would have penetration issues...see the buds on the lower left of this pic? they were 2 1/2' feet from the arrays for about a month. and while we did prune away some, they werent in direct light the whole time. I'd think with the cfls added you should do wonderful. just do some light(no pun intended lol) rotation to your plants, move a leaf here or there. we had an uneven canopy across three level lights and it worked out ok(of course it could be better but it was an f1 so we worked with it).
keep up the good work:thumbsup:
db:smokin:
Hey DR, have you sexed em yet? If not I would wait on the clones until you know for sure who the ladies are.
They look great and accoding to the breeder your growing these just right, No sog or scrog just grow em put as a bush.

Jack the Ripper is well named because it is absolutely killer weed. A true 8 week Sativa Haze the first thing growers notice is the incredible lemon smell and heavy resin production. It has been described by UK growers as the best 8 week haze ever produced.
This plant will produce triangle shaped spear buds that pretty much stopped active calyx growth early and produced copious amounts of resin instead, resin production was evident from day 12 in 12/12 but really started to fatten up the heads around day 50 or so.
I find it performs best unstopped with a long vegetive period. The high is very creeper at first you may think that its not so strong but then whammo...it hits you hard and there's no turning back then...you will be deep in thought and meditative for quite some time...the duration and intensity is strong and thought provoking.
1. Phenotypes - Two main phenotypes both with a Lemon Haze smell and short growth one tends to be more a pine smell.
2. Height-Look for the Short Pheno/ Colas swell late

grow -- yeah, theyve been in flower for almost 2 weeks now, i pitched 3 males and im 95% sure the 5 i have left are all girls...
db -- hah having never grown before, im not quite sure what to expect. so far i dont appear to be having any issues, i just worry with how leggy some of the girls are getting as well as the fact that i can maybe raise my lights another 6 inches... i may have to top these girls or something, i'm sure i'll be asking ya'll for advice on that soon too lol
Here's the pics of the 5 girls before their transplant last nite. didnt take any pics of the after, as it was past 1 am when i was done and i just wanted to hit the hay. The 2 girls in the first pic are 24 and 17" tall, and the 3 in the second are 13, 15, and 19" tall... the 15" one actually grew two main stems, it was my late planted seed so I guess it had to branch out early to find light... crazy.
Spiggs
Hmm, it appears the transplant has stunted the girls' growth a little. All gained about an inch in the last 4 days after averaging 3-4 inches every 4 days for the first week and a half of flowering... i buried some of them a little deeper than intended, and screwed up the root ball of one, which is prolly why its the runt of the group. =(
Here's some pics. First 3 are the girls out for watering, second 2 are a shot of them in the growhut... like I said, starting to run out of room and I have 6 weeks left! lol... didnt get to cloning this weekend, realized I'm short on ingredients and somewhat long on time... so surprisingly, i procrastinated. ;)

lookin good! I am on day 6 flowering...
Wt
very nice looking. can't wate to seen budding.:D
looking great spoof, keep up the good work:thumbsup:
hey all -- plants are looking even bigger, each plant seems to have grown 2-5 inches over the last 5 days. Raised my lights basically the highest they can go... not sure what to do once the big girl gets any bigger! She's 31 inches now, the others are 22, 20, 18 and 11. The 11 has always been the runt of the gorup, while the 18's main stalk has actually stunted and a higher, bigger side stalk has emerged from under the shade of its neighbor.
first 2 shots of all girls, 3rd of the big'un, and 4th/5th of them in the grow chamber...
DrSpiggity
i would just supercrop the top of your biggest one or do some lst to it... dont wait to long to lst tho because you might break some branches ... but everything is looking really good :hippy:
looking good keep it up
lookin good spiggs!

Girls lookin good...
Heights 33, 26, 13, 29, and 23. You can see from the second pic that I tied the big girl down a little on Tuesday.
Starting to get all frosty on the tops... I want to lick them.
Not having to water them all that often, just went 7 days in between watering (generally use a full watering can (2 gallons) for all 5 of my plants, which are in 3 gallon growbags) and the moisture meter was either 4 or 5 for each plant.
Doing the best I can with my light setup, I think its going pretty well...
DrSpiggity
Hey Dr looking great!! Very healthy ladies and the bud production looks great too!! In fact I am watching a grow of JTR on another site as well and they are into week 5 o flowering with a 600w HPS and by far you are looking much better. Theres a link below to the other grow if you want to compare.
After seeing what you've done with these ladies here I am convinced the led setup is the way to go.
With 4 week or so left for your grow I am looking forward to seeing how these babies finish up!!!

hey dr.,
:greenthumb::weedpoke::clap:Lookin good!
...umm...I was comparing our pics to your day 19 pics to our day 20 look-in (I know differing strains ans such, also i dont know JTR's flower time) and the HKxBI (7-8week) seems to be about even with your mid to tall plants, we also 1week 1/2? ago took clones and went to 3 gal for all. church is near size in flower and big. the SB is a little behind but still flowering, but this should be normal. (sorry didnt mean to drag that on... the point is?...lol)
the CFLs, I believe there helping just not sure how much. your nodes are a bit tighter on the taller girls. but these are also the originals w/ the old blues in em so... I dont know... i guess their are more variables than i thought...any ideas?
db:smokin:
"two of them are quite shriveled. Not "im dead for good" shriveled, but "uhh i fuckin hate you and its gonna take me some time to recover" shriveled."
LOL damn dude thats fuckng halarious!!!:S2::S2::S2::gunfighter2::gunfighter2: :gunfighter2:
good grow show too btw. you are brave to have bought a procyon or whatever. and SNS if your reading, ive read your led grows (took me a week to read one...) and i gotta hand it to you.:clap::clap:
grow -- thanks for the compliments, I am amazed at the fact that these things have practically grown themselves so far... fox farm + procyon seems to be a fairly foolproof combo
stealth -- JTR is an 8 week, so we should be finishing within a week or so of each other... I still havent taken clones, which should set me back a bit (I know I know im really really starting to lose window of opportunity lol)... as for the variables, just too many to consider I think. I've been keeping track of where each plant is physically placed in the growhut (so i can rotate) and it appears--in between waterings and rotation--that the plants that are directly under the CFLs gain 1.5 - 2x the height of the plants that are to the side of the CFLs, getting mostly just LED light. YMMV.
joedirte -- thanks, luckily I've managed to get back on top of things, that was a span of time where work got really crazy and my plants weren't flowering yet so I didnt _want_ to tend to them nearly as much as I do now.
Flowers are even bigger. And more beautiful. My lord, they're beautiful. I'm prolly gonna have to tie down the 2nd and 3rd biggest girls soon, too.
Question: Running between 71 and 78F. Humidity has been between 50 and 67%. Hard to get anymore airflow since the grow box is stuffed in a corner of the cellar. Turned up the intake fan even higher *ran around 1/3 - half strength, dialed up to about 2/3 now) to try and get more circulation/ventilation. Anything else I can do, short of buying a dehumidifier? Am I at risk for bud mold with these conditions?
Thanks again all, for the help and the praise
DrSpiggity
when in flower, i try to keep humidity below 50% for two reasons.
-no risk of mold
-the carbon filter will clog at himidity levels above 55%, thus reducing your ventilation even more
*humidity. sorry
now im not the expert on this, but im almost positive youre too late for cloning. yeah...day 29 now? if they do root and veg for 3-4 weeks im not sure what youre gaining unless there is no backup.:(
we had some humidity issues as well at the end of our first grow. DAMP-RID is what we used. i had a bucket in the intake and got a box w/ 4 hanging "closet" damp-rid dryers, they're meant to be hung from the clothes rod but i zip-tied them directly at bud level and after a couple days things dried out wonderfully. ill be honest we were getting scared from the almost mold smell that was coming out of the buds. those are very cheap price wise compared to a dehumidifier, but seeing as you are in a cellar getting one after harvest wouldnt be a bad idea.
db:smokin:
I would say you are at risk of mold with himidity that high. I know there are products out there you can feed the ladies to reduce mold, I'm not sure what they are but I was reading about them earlier, just forgot the name of them.
A dehumidifyer is probably a good idea, have read that a lot of people also use the water they collect to feed as well. Also the denser the buds get the more risk there is.
ok ok so a cheap dehumid it is... not a big deal, ill pick one up at the depot tonite.
i dont care about how long it takes the clones to re-veg and all that stealth, i just dont want to start from beans again. I should be still good for those purposes at least, right?
Spiggity
ill check w/ WT in a bit.

oh my god the frost... just like the pictures on hemp depot. i love getting what i paid for
Heights 34, 27, 15, 30 and 24. Big girl that I bent over has turned into a bush as the undergrowth has filled in. Amazing. I think that 3 (maybe 4) well trained plants would work well in my space with my set up... 5 seems a bit cramped.
not much else to report. tired. plants are fuckin heavy. lol. have some pics :D
DrSpiggity
ps i want to smoke these so bad. oh my effin christ they're beautiful.

thought you may want to take a glance at this, if you havent seen it already

thanks anbesol, have heard of the UFOs but have never actually seen them in action... interesting to see the side by side
one thing i forgot to mention. picked up a Sunpentown Mini Dehumidifier with UV Light Ti02 - SD-350TI : Target and tried leaving it in the cellar for 2 days... picked up maybe 2 oz of water. moved it actually into the growhut last night.
after 24 hours, conditions went from 74F / 56% to 83F / 37%. So now I can leave it off for a little bit as well as not having to worry about mold.
Happy day!
Spiggity
ps -- finally ordered my thrive alive b1, pumps, etc, so I should be able to cut 4 or 5 clones on tues or weds and start that process so that round 2 of the op will be ready by the end of september (yayy makin moms lol)
Whats up Doc? Nice job getting the humidity down. Is it harvest time yet? Must be gettin close.
I have all of my seeds in but I decided I am moving. What I havent decisded is where LOL. Anyway, looking forward to harvest time.
Hi all,
Noticing that most of the girls only need to be fed once a week. Moisture meter read from 5.5 - 7, and I havent watered them since last Saturday. Conditions 58%, 73F. Had to turn the dehumid on 24/7 because it hasnt seemed to be doing much. Had it on 18 hours a day, but still wasnt helping. Thermometer said min of 54% over the last few days, which still isnt as low as I'd like. Hmm...
Heights pretty much same as last week. Bud production has increased a whoooooole bunch. Def can see that flowering 5 plants in this space is too much, not getting the penetration to the lower budsites... Hmm part two.
Decided to reveg my two biggest plants after harvest, rather than try and clone. That will give me a month or so between revegging and cutting clones to do a post mortem, try and sketch out the next grow, and tweak whats needed. Also to make some hash, butter, cannapills, etc... all the things I've been putting off (have made cannapills and green dragon in the past, but have never really really gotten the hang of it, but now have the supply to go wild lol)
Starting to get some pistils turning on the top of the biggest girl, but other than that, still clear mostly. Probably got about 2 weeks left til harvest.
Question, when should my final flush be done / ferting cease?
Cheers
DrSpiggity
Looking rich, man!
:greenthumb:great job man. nice crystals.....mmmmmm crystals....ahhhhhhhhQuote:

db:smokin:
Hi all!
Not much in the way of updates. Girls are chugging along, fattening up for the harvest. Did my flush last night, put about 6 gallons of water through each girl (in 3 gal bags). Got a pretty sweet adapter for my bathroom sink that replaces the aerator and offers a garden hose male thread to screw into. Should make filling my watering can easier from now on, as well as making flush absurdly easy.
The two shortest may not really be ready to go in a week to week and a half, but theyre gonna get harvested anyway since I'm planning on re-vegging my two biggest ones. I dont really see the two smallest as offering anything significant in terms of harvest anyway, so whatever. More shake for bubble hash (must order bubble bags this week, reminder! lol and some mason jars... hmm)
Forgot to take pics while they were in my room, got a nice one while they were in the shower draining though :D
cheers
drspiggity
Lookin damn good spiggs!! Those ladies look just like our jack herers. You can tell they are related for sure;)
Approaching that first harvest huh?! I know its hard, but letting those other 2 go a week or so after harvesting the faster one, will make you very happy you did.
whiskeytango
yeah... only prob is i only have one grow space at present... so its more a question of, is it more important to use the space to reveg two future moms or to get an extra half o out of the two short ones... if my t5 fixture comes in this week then i may be able to retrofit another space to reveg, in which case i will let the two small ones go for another week... hmmm
yeah the look and smell of these things is amazing. so citrus-y and beautiful... omfg i cant wait lol
Spiggs
dude dude dude dude dude. they R looken real nice.
http://boards.cannabis.com/indoor-gr...ml#post1017909
omfg. i just got the sickest idea. the t5 2ft x 2 bulb fixture came in this week. its bright as all hell. two 26 w bulbs, 52 watts total. instead of the cfls next grow (~100 w of cfls, 50 on each side), i think im gonna suck it up and buy two more t5 2ft x 2 fixtures. (i bought the current one for moms and clones).
and then, rather than have the cfls where they are (prolly not all that useful), hang the t5s vertically on each side of the tent. omfg would that be a way more useful application of those 100 watts or what. that would be absurd.
the things we think of when high
Harvesting the big girls tomorrow, maybe. Gotta pull out my 30x and see if I cant get the thing to stay focused for more than half a second.
Question -- guidelines on revegging? I know 24/0 w my 6500k T5s, but what about superthrive / b1 / other ferts? how much per gallon, etc?
Ordered my bubblebags this week. Getting excited...
DrSpiggs
Final watering!!! tried to just give the plants enough for the next few days. Anticipating a Monday or Tuesday harvest. Maybe Tuesday based on the way my schedule is looking. Seeing mostly cloudy trichs with a little amber; so a few more days should hopefully do it.
Got some different rubbermaid trays for the plants, can now fit 5 trays at a time which is nice because now each plant is in its own tray. Brought in a new intake directly from my room so that there will be something other than heavy moist basement cellar air being drawn in. Have to get a louvre for the vent, theres a faint purple glow emanating from it which looks hilarious in my room at night :wtf: :stoned:
Accidentally cut the power cord for my dehumidifier while I was working on the new intake... whoops. Somehow I don't have electrical tape (in the midst of moving out into my own place again, so all my stuff is in limbo right now lol) so I'll need to pick that up at the home de pot tomorrow too... hopefully the humid whill stay down, I cut the new intake hole to bring in some less moist air bc I've been chillin in the 57-61% range which is way too high for my tastes...
Read a thread in Basic Growing from a few weeks back where sitnky said 2-4 drops of superthrive per gallon for the first feeding of the revegging moms, then just water after that til they turn around. Not sure how much oomph is left in this soil (have to take the trip to the hydro store soon), so hopefully the moms dont freak out too much...
Did some trimming, gettin rid of dead leaves/branches etc. Never done that til now, prolly shouldve started earlier. Getting leaves shriveling in the middle of the plants here and there randomly... weird stuff.
Plants are all very top-heavy. Cant wait to reveg these moms and start playing with cloning. Also need to figure out where the hell my NL x BB seeds got to... lol!
So soon...
ps -- def. going with my t5 sidelighting plan next grow. Why not, any good pot scientist would do it in the name of experimentation :smokin:
