Judging by pre-existing water damage in other parts of the structure, this is a seasonal thing which I feel should have been disclosed to me before I moved in, and I have someone coming up this evening to address it. I expect to install 2 tiers of curtain drains, one outdoors, up-grade from the structure, to intercept overland flow from seasonal high water coming off the nearby river, and another in the below-grade attached woodshed that cuts off flow out of the drystone foundation before it may enter the living area. I'm also going to pick up some hay bales and take care of the driveway washing out at the same time, lol... what a fucking hassle... good thing us Yankees are a hardy bunch and can handle a little icy cold river water in our living rooms! :D I just realized why LL Bean makes those duck-shoes- you know, the low cut version of their Maine hunting boot? Those aren't meant for outdoors like everyone thinks... THEY'RE SLIPPERS! hahahaha
I could certainly use some 'Southern engineerin' though, lol!
Gimme a sec and I'll get back to the plants, already!

I know a little about flooding...it sucks.
I own one of those mini wet vacs (Dayton) It's great for sucking water out of carpet and stuff.
Right now we've got no sewerage. The septic line to the tank got crushed underground somehow. I've got workers in and out of my cellar, which is filled with buckets and lights and stuff "for starting the garden vegetables". Also they have to walk through the utility room, which has my grow in the corner. So, I had to turn off the lights for now so they won't notice (there's cardboard w/mylar so you can't really see anything).
Good luck to us up here in wonderful New England! <G>

I've decided not to post up pics of the water source [outdoors] for security reasons but there is going to be a curtain drain installed upgrade as soon as the ground thaws.
Meanwhile back at the farm... we have some serious action!
The VT purple shit is taking off, and I kinda fucked up and let it get too close to the T5s and shrivelled up a couple tops, but we'll live. Shown is a pic of 1 week after seedling emergence, and another 2 weeks after emergence.
Next is a BOG BlueMoonRocks showing characteristic ruffling of its unusually thick leathery leaves.
Then some of my mite control 'bots. I gotta really keep an eye on them; they get lazy and wander off into other parts of the house. Slackers.

How close is too close for a flouro?
-
Donkey Dick and VT local IBL Indoor/Outdoor 2008
Pic 1 is how they look 2 weeks after being cut back for clones. All are very healthy and ready to flower. Note in the front RH corner the BMR plant with the ruffly leaves- see why it's called 'blue'? What a beauty!
Pic 2 is the clones having been rooting for 2 weeks. They have been misted ~3-4 times during the last 2 weeks, show no signs of wilt or rot, and are starting to use of stored nutrients in their lower leaves, so I am going to go ahead and say they are rooted and ready to transplant. Note the markings on the leaves, and the new growth starting- I trimmed ALL leaf tips except the blade I needed to write on, so any leaves with un-trimmed tips I know to be new growth. Oooh sneaky tricks! :D

Depends on the type of lamp.
T12 tubes don't burn a correctly-watered plant even with extended contact.
T5s will, and so will CFLs. I use a New Wave T5 for my seedlings and have to raise it when they get too frisky.
-
Donkey Dick and VT local IBL Indoor/Outdoor 2008
You only misted 4-5 times? How do you get AWAY with that? Do you water your RRs?
-
Donkey Dick and VT local IBL Indoor/Outdoor 2008
Nope, just leave them at the moisture they come out of the bag, be sure the light is dim, use wilt-pruf, mist the dome heavily the day the cuts are taken, open it 2x a week, and walk away, lol.
-
Donkey Dick and VT local IBL Indoor/Outdoor 2008
Do you use a seedling mat or anything to keep heat on them? What temps DO you have your clones in?
-
Donkey Dick and VT local IBL Indoor/Outdoor 2008
No heat mat. The room is a fairly stable 70-80'F. I only use a heat mat if the ambient temps dip below 70'F- atm, they are all in use under my veggie starts, which live in a barely-heated sunroom that stays about 50-60'F.
I thought I'd throw in some eye candy just for fun because there won't be much to show in the way of buds for a few weeks yet. I intend to do the big flip on my DDs this weekend, but here's some to keep ya happy in the meantime!
1- A 6 week flowering pure Afghan, 'Afghani Dream', that I believe to be the pre-2000 version of the line. I love her! *smooch
2- Some month-flowering plants of all varieties. They live under a HPS k in a room that is built for a total of 2k, but I only plugged in the second lamp for the first time this morning because it just didn't make any sense to run the 2nd light over empty panda, lol!
3- Now the little guys in the trays are rooted and healthy enough to take the heat, so the light got put online this morning.
4- My ballast is up on a milk crate out of reach of high water. The other ballast is on a totally different breaker but it, too, is on a milk crate.
5- My timers are set staggered to as not to both switch on at the same time and possibly overload any circuits- this IS redundant I know because they aren't even on the same freakin' breaker, but I've got redundancy on the brain these days lol!

Haha, when I vegged in my crawlspace my assassins would get bored and do the same thing. They always managed to make their way to the house ventilation ducts, and would surprise us in the middle of the night by crawling up our legs! I didn't mind, but the missus would completely lose her mind every time. Then, when she realized what it was, she'd pick up the little bugger and play with it. I found a cool picture of a ladybug eating a thrip, hopefully the attachment will work.
Log's looking good, and thank you for the eye candy!
...one question, and sorry if it's already been addressed, but are you using Rapid Rooters for your clones? If so, do those things mess with pH as bad as rockwool or Jiffy cubes might?
-
Donkey Dick and VT local IBL Indoor/Outdoor 2008
Yup I'm using rapidrooters because I looooove them so much. And nope, I've never had the slightest inkling of a pH problem. They are composed of composted tree bark, some sort of binder -why do I have the feeling it's a rubber of some sort- maybe the same shit as WiltPruf? I dunno... gotta stop smoking so much; I remember the grow shop guy telling me the actual composition. I have no idea where he finds this shit out. I mean, it's all proprietary! Plus it's inoculated with beneficials to help reduce risk of mold. The compost component keeps pH very stable with no adjustment prior to use. Since switching to RRs my success rate has approached 100%, with any deaths happening during the vulnerable hardening-off period.
Lol @ your wife playing with the ladybugs! That's funny. They ARE cute. I want to get a family portrait this weekend that shows the incredible range of colors and markings among my ladybug population. They go from dull orange to vibrant red and the spotting is anywhere from completely absent to a dozen dots!
-
Donkey Dick and VT local IBL Indoor/Outdoor 2008
Perhaps rubber occurs to you because you can bounce them around like a superball.....:D
-
Donkey Dick and VT local IBL Indoor/Outdoor 2008
Thanks for your feedback on the RR's, I'm probably going to pick up a pack of them pretty soon. I've heard good things about them, and with confirmation from you, now I know they're true! Take care.

When are you going to transplant those seedlings? Wont the roots strangle each other?:(
How many plants are there all together?
Nice Set up

Look back a few posts, or look closely, and you will see those are nursery starting flat inserts with indvidual cells. They will be transplanted this weekend.
I never post my plant count. I assure you it is enough to keep me well-stocked with tasty bud
Thanks for the ups everyone!

Donkey Dick and VT local IBL Indoor/Outdoor 2008
Stinky, when I lable my plant's I lable the pot which as you know you can't really do when your trying to root clones or start seeds, mostly because I use some kind of rooting device (I'm not to picky about which one because they all work if used right). My question is what do you use to mark the leaves? It looks like a Sharpie but they are toxic. If it is a Sharpie haqve you ever had any complications and if it ain't what kind of marker is it. That's a great idea, I've never seen anyone do this before on any kind of plant but it sure would hlep me out a lot.
-
Donkey Dick and VT local IBL Indoor/Outdoor 2008
It's a Sharpie! :D
Those things are good for everything... I can slap my gangsta tag on the leaves of my plants so all my homies know where my turf is at.
G.
I don't have issues with them, and can say confidently that they do not appear to be toxic to plants, used in that manner, as I've recently HARVESTED a couple from-clone plants that still bore a healthy leaf with the original clone label still visible in black ink!

Too technical eh? :D....Smoke black sharpie.....grow out black toenails. (you know....like ARSENIC!!! )
Stinkster....have a q for you in my log.....could you please read when you have a chance?
Thanks.. :)

Donkey Dick and VT local IBL Indoor/Outdoor 2008
I potted up the DD clones this weekend. They all showed healthy roots after 2 weeks (pic. 1). No deaths or significant leaf dieoff.
The family is shown in pic 2.
The culls are shown in pic 3- these were the plants that I did not consider worth cloning, and they went into flower on Sunday.
Pic 4 is a healthy DD that has 3 strong tops and is my current favorite for a prospective breeder of either sex.
Pic 5 is a sexy, healthy BlueMoonRocks.

Donkey Dick and VT local IBL Indoor/Outdoor 2008
lookin lovely as usual;)....pic 4 has 4 nice tops doesnt it?...or is that 4th kinda low and light?...looks like it will form well though...picked my 3 breeders last night;) rest are my culls, but the will harvest decent....good luck!!

Awesome plants Stinky, real nice...
How big holes you plan to dig for the outdoor plants??? and do you gonna use some medium to loosen up the soil??
-
Donkey Dick and VT local IBL Indoor/Outdoor 2008
Since I plan to put the outdoor crop out Aug 1st, I don't expect giant plants, so I won't be digging giant pits for them to live in.
Instead, I'll just stick them in soil prepared as for a garden, hoed up nice n loose, but with some added bat shit.
That doesn't sound right. :wtf:
-
Donkey Dick and VT local IBL Indoor/Outdoor 2008
Hoe it up all nice and loose like. mmmmm.

Correction, this thread is getting funnier and funnier!
Looking good, Stinky. Using the Dip-n-Grow, about how long does it take for the roots to poke out of the RRs? I'm lucky to see roots after 7-10 days using my old crappy Jiffy pellets and crappy rooting powder... and they definitely don't pop out looking all content and healthy, like yours. I think it's definitely time for me to update my cloning methods...
