IT'S NOT A DRUG!

THC is the chemical "drug". Cannabis is a plant. Pretty straight forward.

just because the drugs have different effects? coke is a drug, viagra is a drug, thc is a drug, nicotine is a drug, it doesnt matter what the effects are its still a drug and theres not "levels" of drugs either its a drug or its not a drug so if you say something to me about using cannabis ima bring up yr little blue pill to keep yr dick erect and yr pillz u pop for a headache

Ya a drug is a drug, but a marijuana user is not always the same as a coffe drinker. Thats absurd. Not that I think their is a damn thing wrong with mj, i just acknowledge it is different and the argument about "hey you do viagra is no better than me doing mj". It is in fact different.


My grandma drinks coffe, but would never dream of using a mind altering substance. Trying to convince yourself that her caffeine use is equivalent to your mj use is a slightly flawed idea imo. In my eyes, That is substantially different.


Now when i start taking performance enhancing agents, scheduled 2 substances, even though that counts the same as coke, its just not. You cant compare me to a coke user, that would be absurd

As you’ve already seen, most of the folks here are intelligent enough to recognize that a psychoactive substance IS a drug whether it's in the form of a plant or a pill or a powder. Sure, cannabis and its chemical components are not pills or pharmaceutical products prescribed by a doctor, at least in most cases. And cannabis is not a narcotic in the way that some of the heavier illicit street drugs (those derived from poppies) or synthetic narcotics/analgesics are. But it's an ingestible substance that causes neurological, psychoactive effects. And by that definition, it is indeed a plant-based drug. A largely harmless, beneficial one, but definitely a drug.

Instead of taking issue with the semantics of the word "drug," you might be wiser to argue the merits of whether or cannabis is harmful or not with those who look down upon you for using it. Just be realistic. There are always going to be uninformed people out there who make a judgment without knowing all the facts. Above all, as NextLine has already urged you, if you believe strongly in cannabis for either medicinal or recreational use, you’ll want to present yourself as a well-informed, intelligent proponent—steering away from anything remotely resembling the brainless stoner-kid stereotype—so you can help advance, rather than hinder, the cannabis cause.

So your grandma wouldn't drink alcohol? That's mind altering. That should be used most as a comparison because it gets you drunk and it's even worse for you. Btw, caffeine is a mind altering substance, we just don't take enough at a time.

I also don't know why alcohol isn't called a drug, and why it's called being drunk, not high. whether you smoke weed or smoke crack, you are still high. You can be high on acid, shrooms, extacy, and many other things with a wide range of effects, but it is still called 'high'. What makes the effects of alcohol so much different that it had a different name? It's just the gov. trying to make it seen different from other drugs. I'm sick of hearing the term "drugs and ALCOHOL." WTF makes alcohol not a drug?

Weed is a drug. Many have probably already said this, but a drug is anything that alters your mood and mind, and weed definitely does this.

It's not that bad for you, but it's still a drug.
