fim topping is a bit more stressful and i just figure seed plants are not as mature as clones so i don't want to stress them at such a tender young age unecessarily. it's just the way i do and i've always had good results.

does the new growth actually come from where the stalk was cut, or is it just that the secondary growth on the node below becomes the two new "tops"?
when you fim up to 8 tops can grow from the cut stem(partial growth tip left). when you do standard topping 2 tops grow from the 2 nodes right on the sides of the main tip that was removed.
yup, that's what i'm seeing.
i'm a noob, but this shit is really cool ;-)
if i flower a clone i took from the top of the plant when i topped (its 3 days since cutting and planting in rockwool), how long will it take to show sex? I just want to use one clone for sexing, don't care about it after that
i've never tried that before. i always just wait for preflowers to show on there own. i would assume at least a week. maybe someone who uses this technique could have a better answer
im just cramped for space.. and if my huge plant is a male, i would wait longer before starting 12/12
oh well, we'll see
how old is the plant? if it's at least 4 weeks then eximine ALL the nodes with a magnifying glass or even better a 30x jewlers loupe. sometimes you can't see anything unless you gently move the stipule aside and then you find the preflower. i have see sexable preflowers hidden behind a stipule so nothing at all was visible unless it was moved aside. take a close look, you could be suprised what you find.
I often flower a young clone to find out the sex. It depends on strain i think but a freashly rooted clone usually shows first signs after 1-1.5 weeks.
