Great how-to and parts list!
You can use different sized Caps if you need a larger filter (ie 8" cap and 8-6 reducer), and I fill mine with the crystal-type kitty litter - cheaper than activated carbon and works just as good!

On this filter do you still need to hook a FAN to it for it to work and if so what size fan do u use and best type to get for it and where to get a fan for it if needed???
Jamie
any 4 inch fan preferable inline duct fan or something of the like. canfan, vortex, etc. Try to get a fan with highest possible cfms for your use.
iono if its just cause im stoned or what, but the end without a endcap the 6-4" reducer part, how do you keep the carbon from spilling out into your ducting and how do you seal the inner screen in the reducer so that you get the most suction through the carbon....?if you could post a pick looking down the reducer that would clear this up for me...thx man
edit, ok looking more closly i can see how you made the seal, but the reducers i get at the depot dont have a lip on the inside were i would clamp the 4" sreen to, do you put in a 4" collar into the reducer to get this lip?
can you use this as an in-line filter? or what? how are you supposed to hook this up?
I love it, i've been looking for a how to build one of these for a while, and now i know.
