I just witnessed the coolest thing in nature ever.
There is a huge ass spider outside the door in my porch, directly next to the porch light. I occasionally catch moths/misquitos flying around in the porch and just chuck em in the web. The spider charges the bugs, seemingly stings them or bites them (?) and then wraps them up in a cacoon where it procededs to devour them. It's pretty cool =P

I proceed to watch the spider just chill there for a minute and i look about a foot over and i see a fly on the edge of the rail. The fly walks around a bit and then flies right for the spider, im kinda watching this all in slow motion and as the fly is flying low he goes right above the spider and the spider just reaches up and grabs the fly right out of the air.
My jaw dropped and my eyes were wide as golf balls. i could not believe i just saw a spider take down a fly in mid air. It was the coolest thing ive ever seen, i really wish i could have filmed it or something.
So this spider sits there for the longest time, fly in its jaws (im assuming) and is slowly taking its life away. I can see the flies little legs squirming and its wings twitching every so often. I watched it for about 10 minutes before i got bored. I came back out about an hour later and found nothing on the railing. must have taken it back to its lair and turned its insides into mush or something. this was by far cooler than seeing a cheetah or tiger take down a gazelle.
it was probably because of the hit i blew into its face, made it into some super spider or something. :rasta:
just had to share it,
peace
I saw that happen for the first time ever last week except the spider got a bee!! It was the coolest thing I'd seen in forever! It wrapped that bee up tight in its web! I looked later too and it was gone. I called my husband all excited. He just laughed. lol

I have a story about that.
One random day in the spring, I was chilling on my porch in the backyard, just hanging with my dog.
I notice that right beside me, due to the occasional frantic/desperate buzz, a spider is hurryingly wrapping up a bee that got caught in it's web. I've never seen this before. I pity the bee.
Using a twig, I destroy the webbing around the bee, essentially freeing it from a slow, horrible death.
It buzz's off for all it's worth.
About 2 minutes later, the thing wont leave me alone. I'm scared shitless of bee's at the time, and this thing is fucking ATTACKING ME.
So finally, after at least five minutes of running and turning and ducking, I accept my fate. Let the bastard sting me, and by doing so, kill himself.
The bee flies near my face... hovers for a moment...
And kisses me on the lip.
And off he went.
:)
