I'm pretty sure you can't get charged if you wern't arrested. Also, if your not of legal age in you state/country, you wont do time anyway, heck you wont even get a record.

Well if they ran up on you smoking that tree they aren't only charging you with eluding arrest and if they did charge you with eluding arrest then they arrested you or are giving you a bogus charge and are legally obligated to read you your rights. I found out when i was arrested at 13 and not read my rights the case was thrown out completely.

O.K.
If you are in the US and this happened, most of the times, running from the police is an automatic felony.

However, since you are a minor, and no substance of abuse, paraphenelia, etc. were found on you, the officer may have in fact thought you were not doing anything illegal and/or he just wanted to be nice and cut you some slack, since a felonious act conviction at an age of a minor for nothing could really mess your life up or he knew he had nothing ecxept you running.
In addition, it sounds to me like running from the police may or may not be synonymous with "eluding". Does that refer to actual hardcore running like you see some times on cops? To me it sounds less than the automatic felony situations.

Unless you have the running skills of a fuckin cheetah, never run from the police even if you are guilty (esp. of possession, contingent on local law), since almost always (if not always), running from the police makes matters worse, since in some states (CA), simple possesion is the equiv of a traffic ticket (for adults, for minors a slap on the wrist and then they leave it to your parents to do the rest).
