At what age did you move out of your parents house?
I was 16 when my grandma (my legal guardian) called the juvenile authorities on me (I was 'incorrigible'). I went to a group home for a week, then juvie for a few months, then a foster family for a year and some, then I joined the Army at age 17, turned 18 in Basic Training. I have three sisters and a brother (I'm the youngest), and I think all of us were out of the house by age 17 or 18.

I was a month away from being 17 when I moved out of the house to go to college in Austin. But of course I still came home in the summers, and my parents supported me all that time. I was 21 when I got an apartment and left home for good and was 22 before I completely supported myself. I got married later that year, which was a good thing since we were both still in school and money was tight. It was easier to manage on two small incomes than one. Living at home was fairly easy. My parents were cool and didn't set a lot of rules, even for me. I know that at times, I was a major handful because I was such a smart alec. But they taught college and so were used to letting smart alecs roll off their backs.

Something my mother taught me before she died: it's better to be a smartass than a dumbass. That was a valuable lesson! ;)
At what age did you move out of your parents house?
I was 17 when I moved out. My parents drove me crazy. I love them to death and all, but they would drive me up the wall. I got my first job at that age, had it for 2 weeks, then I moved out. I lived in a basement suite for about 3 months, and the funny thing is, I only paid $85 in rent that entire time. I really don't know how I lived there for that long.
Then I lived in a partment for many years, then my folks retired, and offered me their house for a good price. I just sold it for twice the amount that I paid for it, and now I'm moving to Vancouver, which, by chance, my folks live in White Rock about an hour or so drive my Vancouver, so that buffer zone has went down about 1000km's. :p
