Day 32 of 12/12
There looking great,But i would keep the cfl's no further than 2 inch's away. You will see a big change of the weight they start to put on.I finally switched to all cfl's today befor i go out to my lake house, and i keep them between 1/8 of an inch of my plants

Day 32 of 12/12
1/8 of an inch!
Okay...I know folks love to get those CFLs nice n close...but I tell you from PRECESION temperature readings direct from the face and back of the leaves...they're hot...plenty hot at that when the bulb, especially the bulb's ballast, are less than an inch from a the tops. The ambient room temperature just inches from the leaves is nice n cozy, the leaves themselves usually hit 88 - 102°F + It's an effect that lessens, but continues on down several more inches depending on the wattage and available air flow n such. The leaves suck up both the radiated, and the spectral energy (darker gets hotter) of the light.
I figure it this way...better to be a little bit further away, receiving a smidge less lumens per cm2 sure...but not risking burn and having the plant devote resources to having to stay cool instead of more juice available for bulking up.
btw bigbud...dont forget, depending on how long you'll be gone, and gauged from recent growth...its good to raise those lights to where you'd project the tops of the plants to be by the time you get back.

Day 32 of 12/12
slowthestone ,I am able to get the bulbs that close because i got great air circulation and constant air moveing across the bulbs. But your are right i got a instant laser thermometer and it reads the surface of the bulbs with my air flow is 93 deg's F, Then the thermometer reads 87 surface temp. at the nearest bud/leaf ,then my room temp is 78.Big diffrence in temps.
Also while im gone i threw together an automatic light mover .I got an old cd player tore the face off it and tied a metal wire to it and pluged it in to a timer so every day for 4 seconds the cd player will turn on and raise my lights up about half an inch.

Day 32 of 12/12
HoLy CrAp!
Thats one torquie ass CD player!
btwx2...I was poking around the fridge the other day while thinking about a reliable means to get water to the plants in a controlled, automatic, and worry free sort of way for when ever I'd not be around to do it myself.

Day 32 of 12/12
So what did you find when looking around the fridge?.Lol
Also the cd player wouldnt really call it torquie, would call it a freak of electronics , hehe im really suprized that its workn.Ill probally spend the next few hours befor i leave to make this thing work perfect, due to the little clip thing i got to stop the wire from goin back down when the cd player shuts off .It keeps kinking the wire.I might have to have thicker wire.

Day 32 of 12/12
i could probably lower the lights like an inch but, like slowthestone said, i dont want to risk burning my plants anymore. I've burnt them TOO many times and i definately ruined one of the flowers because i let it grow into the light.
BigBud, do you really think the lights are too far from it? the picture may make it look farther but it is only 3-4" at the most... plus the box is very small and with all the reflectivity in there, it gets very bright. I need sunglasses just to work in there. :smokin:
The trichs are really starting to show up all over now and the flowers are starting to look like flowers more..(slowly, but more)... instead of looking like a big cluster of leaves with hairs all over.
I guess i am going to keep using this thread to update so keep an eye out!
Peace.

Day 32 of 12/12
one more thing... i'm using miracle gro potting mix (i know, i started her before i read)..
Do you think it would be a bad idea to give her alittle NPK? Shes in a 6in pot... so i'm sure the ferts in the MG are starting to deteriorate... I could give her in small doses?
Peace
-
Day 32 of 12/12
Yeah give her some NPK but i would use 1/4 of recomended dose. Also make sure you got somthing a little high in P due to your in flowering now .Also your light distance dont worry about it 3-4 inchs is fine if you wanna keep it safe but for me 2-3 inchs is safe (Hehe right now as low as my lights are im past the safe zone the comfort zone and any other zone im just hoping for the best.)
Yeah your buds are looking great
