I don't believe God condemns others to Hell for not believing in Jesus. I'm convinced the truth has become so skewed that we really cannot determine what is the "right" religion, and I think the choice of religion has to do with someone's personal views. If there is an all-knowing power, don't you think he/she would know our confusion and therefore be merciful, despite our individual beliefs? If not, it makes God less than "perfect" in my eyes.
As for Jesus appearing in the flesh, yes, I do believe that, and believe he was a great person. But he might not necessarily have been the "Messiah" we are looking for.
Hey, Lethal G, good post! First off, I'm a born again atheist so I can get away with not giving religious matters much thought. It could be that your search for truth or meaning is stuck on the concept of "the Messiah".
Are you really looking for a Messiah? If you are then you're probably close to subscribing to some form of religion that holds God as the supreme authority. I won't try and sway from that search, it's none of my business...
but I'm irreverent as hell... ;)

That's a good take on it. I am not really in search for a "Messiah", per say, but just a supreme deity (God) that knows all and accepts everyone and everything, no matter what their differences are or what kind of mistakes they made. I am looking more for a spiritual path or belief that accepts and loves all no matter what.
..i'm really stoned right now, so I think I'll stop now lol.

LOL... OK, good luck with that search. If you can do this without answering to his followers then you'll be well on your way... Peace :rasta:

Hey Lethal, Gray
Not trying to hijack, just sittin around a hotel room.
I chuckle when I see you guys, It's very easy to like you both.
ahhh......your honesty. What a gift. (I just read again).
Lethal,..... "indisputable Proof". Something that I have pondered a long time. Jesus, could have done so many things, on a very large scale. Only those that hung around Him saw such things. Early on Satan temped him to display something grand, He refused then. I am grateful, He would have set us up to have to constantly perform.
Members of the Sanhedrim were vigilant ~ looking for the messiah. They questioned, John the Baptist "are you the messiah?" He said no, but was to prepare the way.
John the baptist even doubted later, "are you the one, or should we keep looking?"........ Shortly before his beheading.
An ancient letter was found in constantinople, a report from Gamaliel, (a sanhedran official), had gone out to question Joseph and Mary, having heard stories.
Joseph and Mary, responded to Gamaliel that they were not sure. Their delima - Every time he could promote himself like a king, He withdrew. again unusual.
It wasn't an earthly deal, not understood until his death.
Look how God chose to bring Him into the world. A Virgin getting pregnant?!!
COME ON! I DIDN'T HAVE SEX! Just imagine this in our day. Yeah, Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
Interestingly, Some prophets foretold this eons prior. King David who wrote most of the Psalms. In Psalms 22 Gives an uncanny string of facts that would happen to Him. Very hard to criticize, some do, that's their deal. The Davidic line of Kings was long sense gone, in Jesus day.
http://biblia.com/jesusbible/2samuel-1b.htm
I believe Him, but It's odd......He did say, "Those who seek me will find me".
Strangely, It seems that He loves to offend our minds.
He said some bizarre stuff, Talk about popularity, In one instance, arguing with the religious leaders, He came out and said, " He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood, will have eternal life, and I will raise Him up on the last day".
He often spoke using figurative language, that He would only explained to His disciples later. I can understand somewhat His blood and body, with the Last supper, w/ the bread and wine.
But, strange,.......strange, It seems that He absolutely loves to offend our minds. I believe Him, but in all the strangeness,......He did say, "Those who seek me will find me".
We have to throw out trying to figure him out, It not about the head, at all. If we could be argued in, we could be argued out.
Atheist are some of the most intelligent people out there.
Our intelligence often blocks our vision of what God seems to insist that we see with other eyes.
ahh Just Reminded - Here's a good one.....
If you were blind, then you could see. But, sense you say you see, your blindness remains......Jesus.
At times, I have asked people, a Yes or No question ~ If He exist, as He Is revealed in the Bible, Are you willing to allow Him to Put His hand upon you, to bring you to the place to where you will know Him?
This right here is a capsule of the whole thing.
It's His work in us, Not our work for Him. When He does His work in us............We will love others, we wouldn't want to rip anyone off. It's all from the inside then it's very simple.
Take rules, and such.....Pot for example... Is it sin?
If something to you is sin. then to you it is sin.
If something is not sin to you, then it is not sin......Religious society does not understand this. The Spirit of God reveals to each and every one of us, what Is good for us, or bad. I don't drink alcohol much, It's no big deal. I like a beer around the pool. The spirit hasn't applied pressure that it is a problem to me, to have to guard myself against.
I quit weed back in he mid 80's, uncomfortable where my money was probably going, and to who..........really on the most part, this was my main prob. It became sin......to me. Now with licensed growers, probably would not be such an issue. Health issues now.
Shelbay, Would you know where the passage re: sin/not sin is?
It's in one of Paul's letters, I just don't know which one.
Your post earlier, oh - a different thread. Outstanding regardless........truly!

More Jesus: "The mind of anti-christ is born out of separation from God and Godâ??s law, which is a potential because of free will. This separation leads to a fundamental duality, meaning that you see yourself as being here and God is somewhere else. You separate yourself out from God and thus you no longer see yourself as one with the Body of God. You have now lost the ability to balance your individuality with the larger whole, and you seek to glorify the individual self instead of the larger Self. That is why people in this state of mind become increasingly egotistical, until they become unreachable for both other people and a spiritual teacher."

PureEvil,
I do find this very interesting, and do not at all intend this to be perceived as a critique......I do have a few questions..........The Larger self,.......... I guess you are saying that our Larger self, as I can tell, defined by the previous statement,..........is when we were still one with God. Just trying to understand your definition of terms.
Also, interestingly, You mentioned, More Jesus.........I don't see him as it relates to The Larger self, and the Egotistical self. (as I assume they are defined here). He is the link now between the two............Wow, Ok - your speaking in context of the antiChrist, so I guess that would be rejected. Sound like I'm thinking out loud?
There are those that resist to the point of hardness, that are unreachable. but, that is a very deteriorated state. Your point IS very interesting, also how it is framed.
By the way, and this is easy to say, many here that don't acknowledge God (They actually do), Are much closer to Him than they realize......muuuuch, much closer.
Thank you, for answering my question, I think you know why I asked, that specific one. But, I am still not sure. If you Know what I mean.
I apologize for judgements from me, even today.
