Green Light?

Sorry, I just had to...the door was so wide open...I will try and find the info for ya...

So just a one of those green party lights you can buy at lowes, home depot are ok right???

I would think so...Z says to get one that is green glass..and I would get lowest wattage possible within reason.

I couldnt' find info on why "no blacklight", but I know you are not supposed to use one...It is just wrong in so many ways...

Why would you even want to do that.
Leave your plants alone in there dark period.
If a black light has UV's of course it won't be ok.
But a green light isn't a great idea anyway. Other then just incase.
But stay out of there while they are sleeping.
How hard is that?

Okay here it is:
A green party light CAN AND WILL mess up your plants flowering cycle.
They are normal incandescents painted green. Some non-green light does escape.

They are fine for once in a while... but... I was an idiot once and left one on for 2 days about 2 weeks into flowering and man, did it slow the girls down.

As the Knowm says, go for the flourescents. They are designed with a much narrower wavelength range and will be much safer if you are forgetful like me and can't remember to turn a damn light off.

However, I agree...stay out of there at night. these should just be a safety precaution incase something go's wrong and cannot wait several hours...

This a scientific proved false statement.

Plants use green light, although they are less sensitive to it than to other wavelenghts. Green light can stop the flowering stage, but more intensity (in micromols, not in lm) or duration of green light are required than any other wavelenght. So, if it absolutely neccesary to check something during the dark period, the best is use green light, because plants are less sensitive to it and because humans have the max sensitivity to green light.

But dont think green light is safe, it isnt. Use it at the minimun possible.
