I was pointing out the fact that america is stupid, as a whole.... in most other countries children are taught more than one language... it's a way of life and needed... amerika is the only country who thinks it's rightous enough to only have one language and that everyone who comes here must learn our language...
that's ignorance... the same thing and reason I gave in the first post... I only speak one language... I'm ignorant in that part, but it's cause I could sleep though the classes in highschool and it didn't matter... I wasn't taught how important communuicating with other people from other countries was... I was taught that Amerika was the best and everyone else should be like us..
but then I realized not knowing a language is much less ignorant than thinking the one single language you know should be the correct one..
I mean read the first book of your bible and you'll see how ignorant of a feat it is to create a united nation under god with a single dominate language...
Genesis 11:1-9
"Now the entire earth was of one language and uniform words. 2 And it came to pass when they traveled from the east, that they found a valley in the land of Shinar and settled there. 3 And they said to one another, "Come, let us make bricks and fire them thoroughly"; so the bricks were to them for stones, and the clay was to them for mortar. 4 And they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make ourselves a name, lest we be scattered upon the face of the entire earth". 5 And the Lord descended to see the city and the tower that the sons of man had built. 6 And The LORD said, "Lo! [they are] one people, and they all have one language, and this is what they have commenced to do. Now, will it not be withheld from them, all that they have planned to do? 7 Come, let us descend and confuse their language, so that one will not understand the language of his companion". 8 And the Lord scattered them from there upon the face of the entire earth, and they ceased building the city. 9 Therefore, He named it Babel, for there the Lord confused the language of the entire earth, and from there the Lord scattered them upon the face of the entire earth."
I mean just look at the 'reason' there are different languages in the first place, according to your bible... there is another oximoron for your ignorant religion...
Where did you go to school? I was never taught that America was the best and everyone else should be like us. I finished public High School over 25 years ago and it was mandatory to have two years of a foreign language to graduate.Quote:

Maybe you slept through the part about how important it is to communicate.
"I wasn't taught how important communuicating with other people from other countries was... I was taught that Amerika was the best and everyone else should be like us"
you mean when I said that?? I wasn't in highschool 25 years ago, i was in it 5... and I'm telling you they don't teach us that... they didn't and they don't... it's not thought or talked about... no one cares if no one spoke a different language, and I hated it...
reading is also a big part in communication, so next time maybe you should try that...
The language requirements are still in place at my old High School. The overall requirements are tougher now.Quote:

You didn't comprehend my meaning. Since you seem big on advice, here's some for you "Don't just read the words, think about their meaning".Quote:

I was the president of Fort Walton Beach High School, in Fort Walton Beach, fl... I was president my junior and senior year... I was enrolled in Okaloosa Walton Community College when I was in 9th grade and took college classes until I was accepted to UF(went in with close to 40 hours my freshman year). I can bring out my year book and show you the other leadership rolls I had with clubs and sports if you'd like... I was one of the smartest kids in a class of 800+ and was assurd of that after the 7 FCAT tests my class was ordered to take beacuse of the horrible education system we have...
after leaving FWBHS and coming to UF, the largest and from what I was told the hardest public college to get into in FL, I was again confronted with teachers who are too incompetent to even teach... I slept a lot in college as well... one out of about 5 teachers actually took the time to teach the class information rather than sit infrom of the class and reread notes from the book...
I may not have a 'typical' upbringing in the educational system, but before you think it was for the worse, I'd suggest you use your own idea and "'think' the whole situation out."
I don't think my statment meant every person in america... I think you made that logical fallacy. I do think I said the education system is crap... the one I went through, the one I had no choice to go through until I chose the hardest school in my state...
Our education system, the same one that you went through, has been destroyed. Teachers aren't held in high esteem, American Idols are. Education and knowledge isn't a goal that many kids share... they want to make a lot of money and be popular. The smart kids are nerds and get made fun of where it's 'hot' to be as dumb as a box of rocks.
I think you have may have just been offened by my comments, which if you were they weren't meant to be personal... something I state on here often...
But to think that Amerika's educational system in anything close to good is a joke. I do take blame myself and said it was my own ignorance as to why I know only one language.... i take all blame for anything I do now know or have taken the time to learn... But to think that amerikan ideas and amerikas way of life supports good education is a joke... no matter where you go to school...
and perhaps I wouldn't have been asleep if I was taught something at school... I didn't fall asleep because I was enganged in a good conversation or anything informational for that matter... I fell asleep cause the teachers were too busy reteaching all the idiots in my class how to do basic things that 5th graders should know.... not because I didn't want to learn...
But that is just what I have seen and been through... so if you can... please explain to me how amerika can have such a great educational system, and where is it so that I can go there and actually learn something....
ps. one other system of measurement on how great our educational system works, look at how many idiots believe in creation and how many people understand evolution... <--- something this county itself debated heavily almost 100 years ago in court... something this country is still too ignorant and stupid to understand... so yes I do think I saw 'typical amerika' and I do think the 'typical amerikan' is stupid or ignorant... please explain to me why I shouldn't??
Here's what I get from your posting in this thread, I find it hard to believe you were among the top people in your high school class. You're spelling, grammer, and comprehension is atrocious. Doesn't mean you're a bad guy. Just means you made a baseless, all encompassing statement and can't back it up.Quote:

I made that fallacy???? You can't even remember what you just posted.Quote:

same reason all the stupid amerikans that travel think the world is stupid cause they don't know english.
I was pointing out the fact that america is stupid, as a whole.
How many more times are you going to throw all Americans into a group and call them stupid and then deny it?
You make this statement, but you still don't get it. I'll spell it out again. You are taking a very minute part of the education system and haphazardly applying it to America as a whole. To say "most" is still way off base.Quote:

Motivating students is an under appreciated teaching tool, IMO. I had some boring classes also.Quote:

And then you blow it with your next sentence. If you want the answer, look around.
Maybe the answer is you have to pursue it instead of sleeping through it.
See above on one of the many places to find a good education.
The Scopes Monkey Trial was eighty one years ago, not almost one hundred. A case on evolution vs creation makes America stupid? Your statement does not fall under "system of measurement".Quote:

Maybe you think the education system failed you. Even if that is true, you failing does not encompass America as a whole and does not make you a typical American. Just a sleepy head.
Howdy PigSnout,
Yeeehhhaaaww !!! Well done !
Well at least now,I got an idea of how old Gumby is,I wasn't sure if he had graduated highschool yet..lol.
Say..did yer room-mate ever figure out if he remembered me from highschool ?
Have a good one ! :stoned:
Ummmm... Gumby, why don't you just post your home address and where you stash your weed? :cool:Quote:

pig- I still don't understand how you don't think I went through the 'typical education'... I spelled it out for you... I didn't go to one of the top 500 schools... I wasn't spose to... I didn't study under the smartest people in the world... it's not looked greatly upon.... It's not typical in america to want to get a great education.... compare america with most other countries and we are less smart as a whole... something I won't stop saying...
do we have great teachers, schools and education in the US, yes... I never said we didn't... I just said I lived the 'typical highschool life' got into the hardest college in my state and still found little in the terms of education...and I don't see why that is untypical.
America needs every highschool to teach like the ones from where you are... I guess what I'm trying to say is that I tried to learn, and I did more than most of my classmates did... it's not there... that's why there is another thread under this about how poor our educational system is... but keep bragging about your upbringing and what great schools you went to...
when typical america goes to school they don't learn shit... america is stupid... there is no hiding that... I don't care if you say that there are a few good schools out there, the majority of them are not... when you understand that, maybe you'll take what I'm saying and what I believe in a different light and remove your own self rightousness from it...
