Well, I think they were mroe nationalistic because of their defeat in WWI and the Versailles Treaty really fucked them over, so they felt the need to become a strong power again, and with the then-government not doing anything to that effect, they were ripe for a dictator to come in and take over. how are they concentration camps? there arent any gas chambers or furnaces to creamate bodies, there havent been any murders by soldiers. and dont just say "of course there have been, they're nazi's!" because thats not saying anything at all, theres no support for that claim. and Stedric is right, your damn lucky to be able to post any of this shit at all, most countries woulda had your ass locked up by now. you should feel priveleged.
A concentration camp is different than a death camp. Gas champers and furnaces marked death camps, a concentration camp's purpose is to imprison. So yeah, you could make a good case for Guantanamo Bay being a concentration camp, but they are still treated much better there than the Jews were originally treated in concentration camp.Quote:

I oppose the use of camps like Guantanamo Bay, however "dissidents" are not being imprisoned there, accused terrorists are. Still a murky term, but you still have freedom of speech. Hitler appeared to German patriotism, Bush appeals to American patriotism. So what? All politicians do, its an old and useful tactic. You are not under a totalitarian system, the Germans were.
The Germans did stand up to Hitler on occasion, such as their public outrage that put an end to Hitler's "euthanasia" of mentally retarded people. As an American, you still have the power to influence en masse the policy of your country.
How do I know they aren't killing terrorists? How do you know they are? Its not my job to prove it, its yours.
