On the one hand, we have a holocaust denier being sent to jail, on the other hand, the western world is fighting for their right to publish cartoons offensive to muslims... Am I the only one who sees a double standard?
While it seems it's ok to insult people who are not, for the most part, part of our everyday lives in Western Europe and North America (muslims), it's a mortal sin to offend Jews...
Maybe in the end that's exactly what people don't like about Americans/Europeans: blatant double standards.

Truth needs to laws to support it. Throughout history, only lies and liars have resorted to the courts to enforce adherence to dogma. As it was in Galileo's time, laws that forbid asking questions protect not the truth, but vested interests.
Nobody jails people who claim to have seen bigfoot. Nobody arrests people who think Elvis is still alive. Only in this one area is the mere asking of a question or the performance of a laboratory test grounds for imprisonment for a crime deemed so evil that even the truth is not allowable as a defense.
History is full of atrocities. And for all those atrocities save one, the victims themselves cry out for more examination, more study, more research. Only in this one area do the victims work so hard to punish anyone who wishes to take a closer look. I've been to the nazi death camp Dachau in germany, you cant tell me that shit is something to ignore and say it didnt happen.
Yet still i dont know if you can be jailed for voicing an opinion, even if its on a subject as delicate as the holocaust. I dont know, im not sure how anyone can have a 100% decision on this matter cause im sure conflicted on it.
No1s denying that ww2 happened or that LOTS of people died, I think people want to know what are they hiding from us... B4 this I wouldnt give a damn, but now I want to know what are they hiding..Its a good question i think...My grandpa fought battles in germany my great uncle died fighting in WWII, and i know people personally who was in a concentration camp, so I heard it all or at least until now...

Holocaust means a burnt sacrifice to god... It implies that the sacrificial lamb, as it were, is already dead. Therefore, it makes sense, since Jews were probably shot or gassed or whatever, and then their remains were burnt to eliminate evidence. Although it's not really a sacrificial thing, it's still a holocaust. But that's splitting hairs :DQuote:
