If you woulda let the torrent go, it would have sped up. The longer a torrent goes, the faster it gets. (of course you are limited by the peer/leech ratio for top speed)
You can also customize your torrent client to maximize its efficiency.
On the average torrents are a far more effficient method to download large files. It is not practical to use for music singles.
BitTorrent works by connecting a downloader to it's fastest uploaders. This is simply how the program works. Limiting uploads or disabling uploads altogether only serves to inhibit your access to said file. FACT.
Note: I DON'T know this because I WASN'T involved in the development of the first several releases. :rolleyes:

Actually I was an important part of the movement as was anyone hosting large files that were in heavy demand at the time. I helped him solve a couple problems, actually. We sought out Bram for tech support and were left as testers. It was a fine experience though not one the p2p community gained from as Bram has since taken money from the MPAA. Luckily the initial licenses have provided for rampant community development.
It's a small world, after all.

It depends on how you view open source software. Is it okay for so-called open source developers to take large sums of money from highly political organizations? Hmmmmmm.... :)
