There is some truth to that argument but I would have to say no. By the time I was 18 I had grown up a lot more, at that age 2 years makes a HUGE difference and I would never have done shit that crazy like I did when I was 16.
It's true the "new toy" syndrome will be there at any age but the difference in maturity between 16 and 18 I think is enormous and when speaking statistically makes an enormous difference in the number of fatalities. Remember there are some states and countries where the driving age is 18 and when you compare the numbers it is no contest. The 16 and 17 yearolds kill themselves and other way more than the 18 and 19 yearolds do. Even when comparing the age groups of both brand new drivers.

i agree stats don't lie... but they may mislead... i still say that kids will be just as bad at driving if they can't until there 18, it's all experience... i would suggest changing the law to you have to have a permit for 2 years and pass serious non standardized tests... ie, if you live in an area pron to snowfall you should have to pass a test in snowy conditions and have to have so many logged hours driving in these conditions, same goes for hilly terrain, and driving in traffic... it should all be adjusted according to where you live, i think this would make much safer drivers... BTW i also think you should have to pass both written and driving exams atleast every 10 years, this way everybody will stay up to date and we won't have any elderly people who should not be allowed behind the wheel making the roads unsafe. i also think they should make cars transmit a signal that disables the use of cell phones in a car when it is in any other gear than park... it's just not safe. yesterday i was driving home from work at 7am on the highway when i encounter what appears to be a drunk driver driving slow and wandering all over the road. when i finally pass then i look over to see a younger looking woman appearing to type a text message while driving on the highway, these people are gonna kill sombody or themselves...

i agree with you, but i just think driving experience has a huge part to do with it.

I'm getting my license this summer and I'll still be 16.If you presume I'll get in an accident or take someones life....then I'll be sure to do so.
No not really, but you can just go ahead and vote. That will just be another example of elders depicting on how we steer our generation. Its a good thing I respect you guys [elders].

Ok I was thinking about this. How about when you do raise the age limit you don't leave us out in the fucking cold.Ok I reside, with my family, in a town where its growing slowly but surely and the only way to get around is to walk, far....or bum rides off friends and family.
We have the shittiest fucking excuse for bus transprotation I have ever seen in my life.So if your so worked up on teenagers dying do to driving at a young age,and are going to change the law to raise the driving age.I would like to see the same people improving the transportation system so teenagers arn't so quick to want to drive and act like assholes.
I can almost assure you it wouldn't happen though.People like this, that want to change the law are always quick to improve something but never have an alternative...so as soon as my state raises the age limit but dosn't improve the transportation, they can all eat a dick.
By the way my view point is from a 16 year old.

i wouldnt mind raising the driving age limit from 17 to 19. hell, why not? i got my license and everytime i drive on the road, there is some retard that is driving so fucking slow in the passing lane and i have to cut their bitch ass off so they realize theyre going too slow.
i say dont let anyone under 20 get their license and dont let anyone over 60 drive.
