I'm convinced it's the Weezer blue album that inspired the whole emo genre. Kinda like the velvet underground is argued they are a the grandfathers of punk.

no way dude weezer blue album did not start the emo scene.... im not sure what did but it deffinetly wasnt weezer's album, they may have taken alot of rivers cuomos appearance as their own but i dont think that album did it.... not sure what did

If you were over 11 in 1995 and you didn't have the Blue Album, you were lost. I'm sure there was more than 1 influence like every genre, but that album was one of them.
