i love my hyundai elantra gt...ok, sounds like a piece of shit huh? consider...
1) past the year 2000, hyundai quality has skyrocketed, rivaling japanese (honda) cars
2) get the gt HATCHBACK...comes standard with leather and a sunroof. now thats fun
3) got mine used for $7k, 2002 model, black, nice :)
it's a fun little car. you can pile people in and no probs...4 doors definitely, if you buy a 2 door you'll be kicking yourself in the ass later. it reminds some people of a saab...check it out!

Used Civic, Corolla, Sentra 2001 or older. Should be able to find one around 45k miles for that price.
Scion is too new to have any used worth a damn in your price range.
Also consider a used Focus.

It's funny how American car companies refuse to make diesel-engine cars, what with everyone complaining about gas and all. Diesel gas is cheaper, and you get almost twice the mileage than with regular gas, and they're very reliable.
American car companies are making and have made diesel engines, for decades. And they have been available for decades in the UK and Europe. All Ford, Vauxhall, Chevey, Mazda, Saab, Jaguar, Volvo, etc. etc. cars offer several diesel engine options in Europe and Asia.Quote:

The same is true for Honda, Toyota, Mercedes etc. They all offer diesel engines in Europe that the don??t offer in NA. The Honda diesel available in Europe is supposed to be just about the best diesel engine ever built. But we don??t get it here.

the ironic station wage. i <3 my mercury tracer. it gets great mileage (i drive 53 miles to my boyfriend's house, only uses a quarter tank, as opposed to his half-full tank to get to my house in his suv) and it's just great in general.
Ohh.. I just saw the nicest Mustang.. It's from 1985, new engine (510 HP:D) but the car itself could use just a little bit repairs.. nothing a little paint job and a nice stereo can't cure.. Anywasys it's only 3500 £:D:D I can afford it!!:D I think I'm getting it.. Have it in my garage until I turn 18.. Get it fixed in the meanwhile.!:D
