I wouldn't be able to answer that with facts, because it is impossible to read the mind of an animal. We don't know what they feel, if they feel.
Humans are animals, sure... why not? We are just advanced. Why is it just because we can write our history that we are considered something more? We developed from animals so...

I think what Faulty was getting at is that we don't know what ANIMALS evolved from and that it is completely unprovable... or know what the PLANET and that it's completely unprovable. Because we know very well what humans evolved from... And I thik we're getting kind of close to figuring out animals soon anyways.
the real question is : Is consciousness a product of brain activity and neuropathological pathways or is it something else?
