Well in america even though we have different accents we are all taught to spell the same way. And some people choose not to learn to spell or choose to spell the way they speak.

i think spellin how u talk is a good thing, it expresses an individual tha best u can on boards. well at least i think. i type how i talk. im not tha kind of person who says
"anything" actually i say it more of a enythang but that takes too long to type

Hmm. I'm a very anal retentive person when it comes to the way words are pronounced. Living in the country I strive very hard to not sound like some barefoot country bumpkin. I strive to pronounce everything with NO accent at all. And I try to spell the way I speak. To me the way you spell and speak tells a lot about a person and their intelligence level. And to top it all off slang is just annoying. I personally liked the speech that Bill Cosby made at the rainbow coalition meeting they had recently. He spoke out about how some black people speak in slang terms. And how you can't understand a word they say. And they can't spell correctly because they spell the way they speak. He spoke out about how it's not the childrens fault it's the parents fault as well because it comes from generations of ignorance. I liked his speech a lot. And it's in every race and nationality. I just thought it was very ironic that finally a black person stepped up and addressed the issue to the public.

ive alwayse thought that there was no such thing as no accent. i go to NJ and NY and they say that i got an accent. i jus dont think its very nice to single a groupe of people out. plus this is a marijuana site an theres bound to be people who r too lazy to spell right or write out whole words. im not sayin tha most stoners do but i know that there are a lot. an i dun know if this is everywhere but around here people start smokin pot cause things arent goin their way an in 6th grade its mostly school therefore a lot of smokers arent very educated. its not that pot made em unintelligent but they smoke cause their unintelligent. again, this is where i live, i dun know bout elsewhere and this isnt all potheads, only a handfull.

I really don't care if I tick off people that are too lazy to spell or speak correctly. I'm not trying to be their friend anyway. It's sad that a lot of stoners are lazy. But there are a lot that aren't as well.

when people talk and they drop their t's or pronounce words wrong, you dont jump down their throats do you? if you do then youre just being pedantic for no reason

I'd say i speak good english but others might disagree. The way you speak is the same with most things in life, your influenced by ur country, ur town, ur friends, family, school...u get t idea...everyone is different, and so everyone is individual in t way thy speak. To me this means that there is no correct way too speak(altho foul language i do not excuse) especially now the world is the way it is.

If u take my point above into consideration when you think about how much things like the internet and MSN are used by people throughout t world then you'll be able to understand that the things you do, see and the people you talk to online can influence t way you type because this is the main way to communicate. Its only natural for people to gain a unique typing method.

I only got my internet set up a yr ago n whn talking to people i found i was always too slow to keep up because i typed every word out n didnt even knw wht gtg or lol meant :eek:

Its quick and its easy...so long as i cn get t jist of it, even if i do have to read through it a few times it dsnt bother me and i dnt see why it should bother anyone else.

NANCY-Have you heard of "pardon", "excuse me", "could you rephrase that"...theres plenty more because for someone who seems intelligent and thinks they speak so well in life AND online you certainly havent thought about ur post. If ud thought realistically you would'v known that posting that thread wouldnt stop any of it with t amount of newbies. Try asking individual people to rephrase when u cant understand something...at t end of t day ur still here posting so it cant bother you that much.
