How did Weed first get banned?
First of all, it would have cut into too many big businesses. Booze, fibers, timber, medicines, whole lot of big bu$ine$$e$. Second, the people who used it were mostly minorities. Third, it is basically undetectable without a lab test. Until the cops get a pot sobriety test that works in the field (like a breathalizer) they can't risk high drivers (no matter that pot smoking drivers have a good record of staying out of accidents). Fourth, pot's too easy. The government would have a tough time getting their cut (taxes). Anyone able to keep a plant watered in their back yard can grow pot. No way they could find them all to tax. Lastly, is the "sin factor". You can't have fun without "paying for it"! Sex= VD, Aids and pregnancy. Booze= hangovers, cirrosis of the liver and the "shakes". Meth= meth mouth, addiction, rapid aging. Driving fast= tickets, accidents and using up gas at a high rate. All "fun" things have to be "paid" for with the risk of bad consequences. Pot is the exception, no hangover, no addiction, in fact, it's good for a lot of medical conditions and it's FUN. Our Puritan mindset government just can't allow us to have "free fun". So of course, we have to have it illegal and a jailable offense. Fun without bad consequences, is unthinkable.

How did Weed first get banned?
it drives me crazy when people say shit like "how can u ban nature man!" or "god put the plant on the earth, how can it be illegal!".
What bullshit. If the plant WAS dangerous, or had a terrible effect on social order, or whatever, then it SHOULD be banned, nature, godly or whatever.
The thing is, cannabis isnt any of these things, but hey, at least its easier to get away with than all the other harder drugs.
It wouldnt be a very far removed world from this one where cannabis is so illegal that there isnt any ANYWHERE, now THAT would be SHIT!!!!

Prescription drugs should be made illegal. Even WITH a prescription. Properly prescribed prescription drugs are the fourth leading cause of death in the USA.

that would never happen because the government owns the drug companies. that's also why weed is still criminalized, because they don't own the weed farms, and ppl would grow their own, thus losing money for the government. no business would do anything if they lose money.

brits and the chinese, started it for U>S> brits were trading cheap indian opium for silk and tea, the americans wanted chinese trade so they started an international opium commission 1901, By helping them with their notorious opium problem, we thought we could impress upon them our moral concerns. the first meeting of this group was january 1909, in shanghai, 3 u.s. delegates went, 1 a protestant minister, second was some ambassador, third was dr hamilton wright, the man responsible for international narcotics laws as we now know them, source drug crazy by mike grey

Yeah, you're probably right. Let's just ask him to submit a rough draft, 10000 words, or more.
