Ah yes, the simple times of the 1700's. Pole Arms, Hand Guns, Shoulder Arms and Artillery. I wonder what his opinion would have been if he knew of the destructive force a backpack full of C-4 with a little anthrax would do? Ol' Ben never even knew about dynomite.
Now ya think GOD would have questioned that! OOOOPS, All knowing...I forgot!

so tell me psycho....you're a police officer going to work...you see some crazy looking middle eastern man and decide to "randomly" search him and his backpack...you find it to be full of c-4 explosives and as you look up there's a twinkle in his eye as he praises God and hits the detonator switch....
how have you made the subway transit any safer?
im really interested in hearing this one...just how have you made it safer?
this is really fucking funny...i hope youre not planning to tell me that you honestly believe that youre going to randomly search a terrorist and he'll just hand over his pack to you no questions asked? you think for a second he's going to hesitate?
lol. oh psycho...how i view your posts with reprehensive repulsion.
you say that having the police search our shit makes us safer...but i never hear you state just HOW that works...
if you dont bother to respond ill understand. plenty of room in the memory hole....

Your fictional officer's heroic ultimate sacrifice probably prevented the deaths of a significantly larger amount of people. The searches are conducted in the train station, not the train - which is where the religious lunatic intended to take his weapon to kill many times more.
As I said before, the searches are just a band-aid - and not among the most efficient ways to keep terrorists at bay.
Maybe we need a good old fashioned rope-stretchin' party, broadcasted all over the whole world.

Was not the U.S. Constitution drafted in the 1700s? If one can live by those principled words, surely one can live by others of the same mind and time.
Furthermore, don't you allow the terrorists victory if the fabric of life is altered by their mere presence?

In that case no, if it were on a timer, yes. But at least the effort was made.

Well since you supplied him with a hand held detonator, I guess you already answered that. But again, at least an effort was made.
this is really fucking funny...i hope youre not planning to tell me that you honestly believe that youre going to randomly search a terrorist and he'll just hand over his pack to you no questions asked? you think for a second he's going to hesitate?
HOPEFULLY he tries to run....bang, bang to the back of the head and no boom boom! But you gave him the damn hand held detonator.....you aren't Moslum by chance?
lol. oh psycho...how i view your posts with reprehensive repulsion.
Maybe some day we could share thoughts over some Grey Poupon. Very Continental you know.

Many amendments have also been made to the Constitution to grant freedoms. Slavery, womens rights, etc.....

Granted they may be keeping us on our toes but I value the right to life. A search could save hundreds of lives. I think they'd get off more on a major kill.
Or is it more important for you to be able to carry a bag of smoke in your pocket as compared to human life? Now I know how the REAL GOD would answer that. Remember: Thou Shalt Not Kill! :D

Including the Fourth Amendment, my friend.
No one doubts that random searches have the potential to save lives, even if that potential is fairly remote. But even the most ardent proponent of such searches must acknowledge that they do infrige upon a citizen's liberties, which are steadily eroding, for better and for worse.
At some point, one must decide how much is too much.

Agreed. There has to be a point where the line is crossed but I don't think this is it. I'm a long haired biker so you can imagine the looks I get. If some lil' ol' lady will be more at ease to know I'm not packin' a bag of explosives when I get on a train, oh well.
How long have we been walking through metal detectors at the airports? If there was a bomb detector or screening device it would make this an easy topic. Unfortunately there isn't.

And I too don't exactly think this crosses the line from a legal standpoint - although I think it's a waste of time and resources.
I simply feel that these sorts of minimal encroachments on civil liberties are slowly starting to add up to something that might prove quite difficult to undo once people decide that freedom is in fact that they want first and foremost.

i somewhat disagree to an extent, sir breukelen.
thewhole point of suicide bombing is to become a martyr for the cause. to make a bloody statement. it doesnt REALLY matter if you only kill about ten or so people or 100.
and as i said before, the terrorists would just switch up their tactics. if i were a terrorist, what would stop me from setting up a connection to buy a few grenades from some ghetto and using them to toss into a gas station?
im just winging ideas out off the top of my head, but you see where im coming from? you cant stop terrorism as much as mighty america thinks its posible.
the best way to help prevent terrorism is to stop fucking around with those guys.
the funny thing is...if america used about a QUARTER of the resources used for the war, they couldve peacefully rebuilt the city and had the iraqis living like kings...bingo. let them live comfortably and without fear of being bombed and you have no reason or incentive for a suicide bomber.
most people cant get the "crazy savage" image out of their heads because of mainstream media and hollywood movies.
