Pool Noodles material works when they're the type without the hole.
Use a reciprocating saw with a long metal cutting blade or use an electric carving knife.
Saw off a few slices 1.125" thick.
Lay them down and mark out circles just over the diameter of your lid holes.
Carve out your little cylinders.
In each cylinder high speed Drill a 1/8" to 3/16" diameter hole for clone
Insert Scissors into clone hole and snip once.
Remind wife she'll look way less goofy using a shorter pool noodle.
Done.
