American Beauty (i love that movie)
Donnie Darko (must see)
City of God (like everyone else said, this movie is a great gangster movie)
Harold and Kumar go to White Castle (one of the best stoner movies ive seen, at the end, you're just like "hell yea......")
Road Trip (damn funny)
Butterfly Effect (this one'll make you think)
ok since everyone is posting their same hitlist of 'good movies' im gonna try and think of some stuff you should see that you might not have heard of, as i consider myself a film connosieur

Yeah I'm a bit of a movie freak so I actually keep an ever changing list of my favorite movies.
1. American Beauty, just watching it is like taking ecstasy
2. The Royal Tenenbaums, beautiful intricate movie that feels like all the best parts of real life
3. Dead Man, existential Johnny Depp western with gorgeous cinematography, watching feels like a dream
4. Donnie Darko, everyone knows & loves this one, I saw it with my dad and in the theater he teasted me about how I can "relate" to Donnie (therapy, trouble at school, seeing things.. haha)
5. Annie Hall, not everybody likes Woody Allen but this is one of the sweetest movies ever, completely uplifting and the NYC setting is a plus (New York is my Oz)
6. Wonder Boys, this one has a terrific Dylan song for the theme, one of those funny-melancholy types of films
7. Chinatown, you know its a good noir film when it takes a story about California Water & Power and makes it engrossing
8. Harold & Maude, macabre cult fave from the 70s with the weirdest love story ever, again my dad ribs me about this one (I'm not SO morbid)
9. Casablanca, I'm not afraid to say it, chick flick my ass, everything is right about this movie
10. Easy Rider, should need no explanation
THE WALL
i watched it for the first time last night and nearly cried...lol
but its an amazing film if you like the music/message of pink floyd then you HAVE to see this film....words cannot describe it..
But i could write a list of films but it would take all day.....it really depends what genre your in the mood for....
A lot of good suggestions already. Here's a few that haven't been mentioned yet.
Cheech and Chong's Nice Dreams (their best, you gotta love the toking iguana)
Help -The Beatles (they were super stoned when making it)
Casablanca (everyone should see this at least once)
Apocalypse Now (imo the best war movie ever)
The Grateful Dead Movie (more of a video than a movie but hey, it's the Dead)
