Did you grow them in soil if so then likelihood is that there was enough nutrients within it to keep the plant sustained, but try growing 4 or 5 crops in that same soil then you are going to see the problems start to arise, hence crop rotation and fertilization in agriculture, try growing in hydro and pure RO water and seeing what happens, like I say I have never tried this experiment before but I cannot imagine it ending well:(

All I can say is if you are going to take the time and effort to grow then I would definitely advise you to use nutrients, you can also get clearing solutions which you use a week or two before the end of the cycle to flush out all the nutes. A good flush improves the taste and smell of the final product believe me you will end up with a far superior product and higher yielding product than if you go the no nute root :thumbsup:
