Pardon me, but sterilization IS important for the clone.
You might spread a virus or mildew to the clone, which gets sold with the purpose of being a mother plant, and bam, your new mom is a diseased bitch.
Sterilization is absolutely important in every phase. Lack of cleanliness will lead to everything from spider mites to mold to tobacco mosaic hitting your crop.
You'd better BELIEVE I keep my research facilities sterile.
