That said.... rant on :gunfighter2:
I believe some of you are taking a small-minded view of investigative journalism. This is a First Amendment issue. You should not condemn these journalists without considering the social value of what they do. In the past, many journalists and activists have done the same: Walter Cronkite voted twice under false names to prove there was widespread election fraud. Journalists have pretended to be insane in order to expose abuse in state asylums. Gloria Steinem became a Playboy Bunny and told the world about the seedy realities of that business. Journalists like the ones at 9 News risk their lives going undercover to expose sexual predators, unsafe working conditions, government waste and all kinds of corporate skulduggery. Medical marijuana is a serious issue in Colorado; it benefits the public and patients to know if these businesses are operating lawfully. What if the issue wasn't illegal sales, but exploitation of immigrant workers? 9 News is right to investigate dispensaries using this method. There are legal limits to what a journalist can say and do in order to get the story, but it would be a troubling precedent were they prosecuted for fraud.
...and I'm off my high horse for now.
Your "high horse" is short and mentally challenged. Lol.
9 News Trying to Get Into Dispensaries Illegally
I have a friend who works at one of the dispensaries that 9 News tried their bullshit on. The dispensary actually called the doctor to see if the patient was valid. Apparently they altered a legal patients paperwork so that it appeared that the Doctor did not sign it. The dispensary called, found out the patient was valid and gave the female patient service. I was told that the patient allowed 9 news to alter their paperwork. Also the patient in question was very difficult, did not like anything and made the budtenders job as difficult as possible.
If a patient allows someone to alter their referral not only should 9 news be held accountable for fraud butr so should the patient that agreed. I find 9 news tactics unconscionable and I do not have words for the patient that allowed it to happen. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I am confused. Was 9News sending in the actual patient with altered paperwork then and not one of their "undercover" reporters? If she was a regular, and it sounds like she was as they knew her and had experience with her, why was she showing her paperwork anyway? Most dispensaries I've been in only makes you show your ID after your first 1-2 visits and they check your paperwork on the computer... (Unless it's been months).
I don't see what 9News was trying to accomplish by sending a legal patient in with a whited-out doc signature? She was legal anyway... Wouldn't every dispensary call the doctor? And did they alter the doctor's number to 9News studios or not?
I'm confused. Seems like a better story before, but oh well... glad it sounds like 9News doesn't know what they're doing anyway...

It is my understanding that a patient came in with altered paperwork and a hidden camera and was doing so for 9 news. I was somewhat mortified by this. Apparently, the paperwork had been copied and the doctor's signature was blanked out. The dispensary called the doctor who did the referral and varified that the patient was legit.
I do not believe the patient was a regular at this particular dispensary, but was difficult to please once her paperwork was varified. As far as I know the patient in question was a first timer at this place of business.
The impression was given that 9 news was working with the patient attempting to uncover dispensaries that did not check the proper documentation. The name of the doctor was obviously printed in but the signature was missing.
This is what occured to the best of my understanding. This is a second hand account so some details are not available to me. I do trust the individual that told me of the situation, and he was obviously unsettled by the entire experience. The impression on got was their was an attempt to entrap this establishment.

This iz just a fat crock of Bullshit!!! Bottom line. Itʻs Amusing how 9news reportʻs about ethics in their 9 wants to know segment yet they are still the ones violating principle and ethics with this so called "undercover investigation".
