Yeah...it get's old listening to the anal-retentive types label cannabis as a gateway drug. No mention of sugar, over the counter childrens cold and flu medicines as the major exposures in early development. Seems it's the old " if you say it often enough, it becomes fact" bullshit.
I am curious whom among our community will be squashed like bugs were we to try and enter the cannabis distribution networks forming as we speak. Ya know...the new mega-corporations addressing all of the consumers needs through intimidation, corporate tax shelters and stepping on competition like Microsoft and it's early competitors. (it's the American way)
Good luck with the poorly-named proposition though. Would like to have seen a more responsible title for the measure. Something like: The Cheech and Chong ammendment, or The Bong Bill. This way folks would take the measure more seriously, ya know...?

uhhhh, point of clarification here: It is NOT really being titled Prop 420, I was just having some fun. It has not been given a number yet, as far as know.

I actually think most of the taxes would be for the industrial grade hemp. And crap weed. Think of like this: a pack of camel lights costs less than a pouch of Sir Walter Ragliegh ciggarette tobacco. They're both from North Carolina, but one is grown by basically a boutique/"small shop" grower, the other by RJ Reynolds.
Most people who don't know the difference will never care about the difference, even though the difference is huge.
I think it will be the same with weed. I think lots of people will buy Marlboro Gold (I mean, hell, they already tax the crap out of tobacco, so yeah, $10-$15/pack doesn't sound so scary) and maybe a few people will opt for John Rolfe's Super-Secret-Sunkissed-Stash, but the pouch of John Rolfe will still go farther.
Seriously, it should be legal. And not just because i'm from Virginia. I mean, yeah, we'd probably be the ones growing it, but still. It'd be awesome.

but the Official Title of the Initiative was the "Tax and Regulate Cannabis Act of 2010". I'm no expert but the major difference between this peoples' Prop vs. the Cali congress version is that the tax is optional and local whereas the legislatures version the tax would be mandatory and state wide.
But they both would give all adult Californian's the legal right to raise their own cannabis without the need to keep records for the feds to seize at will. This is the real heart of the matter, in my opinion.
I say best of luck Cali with this. :greenthumb: I'd vote for it I still lived there. :twocents:

I think your right. Who would buy "taxed" weed when they legally grow their own in peace? :rasta: but still, I imagine a LOT of people would and the sales tax revenues generated by grow supplies, that would be huge, either way. :pimp: its a win win for all. :rastasmoke:

Yes. If person A has connection to person B who has connection to agency C, then could you not say, logically, that person A has connection to agency C? Not trying to be a wise ass, just seriously asking.
but, just watch this, the CIA director says there has NEVER been any conspiracies, EVER. case closed. :rastasmoke: Even the boners admit to a lot of this stuff. :stoned:
but on a lighter note, this girl was really hot back then. :smokin:

Only if you want to stretch the connection beyond it's legitimate link. (like most conspoiracy theories are forced to do, to make their paranoia or hatred fit)
If I purchase my groceries from the wife of a cop. Does that mean I am doing business with the cop...?
If I'm purchasing my gas from a station that get's it's gas on the open market, and the source country is a terror sponsor, am I too a terrorist?
<for those that are unsure...the answer is no>
Now if you were to reliably prove the connection, I'd admit the connection. But regardless, the scumbag deserves the initial sentence. I have no remorse for that sack of shit whatsoever. (nor the other's listed, for that matter)

Well, if said groceries were purchased by the wife from the cop, then yes. But I really don't want to argue about it. I think we can all agree that they are all scumbags.
but back on topic, does anyone know of any other states that will have legalization on the ballot this nov. besides ca?
