you still don't get it, do you? this isn't about democrat vs. republican or right vs. left, it's about those who believe in sovereignty and the rights of the individual vs. those who would sell us and the nation down the river for that bit of extra support that will enable them to steal even more of our freedoms. i'm not sure what right wing lies you think you see here, but to most of us the truth is evident. despite the continued assurances by this administration and the outcry from the citizens of this country, our government insists that we support every tom, dick and harry that comes sneaking across the border in the middle of the night. despite the public's determination, our government insists on micromanaging the affairs of its people and forcing onto them legislation that flies in the face of the tenets that have made this country a force to be reckoned with and one of the most influential societies on the planet.
i do find your blaming of this prohibition on the right to be a bit amusing. we are a minority that is easily vilified and these political animals of all stripes are always looking for a scapegoat to be thrown to the masses. we are an easy target for that blame game and both sides have used us to shore up their flagging reputations. they have created a crime of the use of our humble herb and a stance against any criminal element is always useful in garnering the support of the ignorant mob. though it's true that the current prohibition began under the auspices of nixon's republican administration, it should be remembered that the campaign against our beloved bush was started during the years of roosevelt's tenure (yes, the very same democrat who who made such ardent strides toward the creation of the welfare state we are stuck with today). so you see, blaming our plight on the stereotypical grey haired conservative fat cat is disingenuous at best.

If my reputation suffers for bringing folks out of the dark and making them think about their political allegiances than so be it.
