On April 29, 2006, the Congress of Mexico passed a bill decriminalizing possession of small amounts of drugs intended for recreational use (up to 5g for marijuana). The new bill was hoped to relieve cartel-related crime as well as reduce drug-related arrests. A possibly unintended consequence would have been increased tourism. The move caused many in the US government to question Mexico's commitment to the "War on Drugs." However, President Fox sent the legislation back, asking that the decriminalization be removed. This action showed the U.S. government's influence over the Mexican Government's decisions, sparking broad controversy over the bill.
On October 14, 2008 a bill was proposed in Mexico City's Congress to legalize the consumption, possession and commerce of Marijuana. The bill states that only a person over 18 can have access to the drug, the places where marijuana is sold cannot also sell alcoholic drinks, and must be at least 1000 meters away from schools. The Government would issue special licences for the distribution of marijuana in special places, similar to the legislation in the Netherlands. The Bill has yet to pass

First of all i've only been to tijuana, i grew up visiting every weekend from San diego, wich is frankly 8 minutes from the mexican border town of TJ. In Tijuana they have some real Bunnk, my cousing just bought a Lb. of some browwn mexican shwagg for 100$,come On people just because its cheap as it can get its not worth risking your life over,Mexico is a very dangerous place and its not reccomended for someone who has never been there to go just for some really cheap herb when you can cross the border and get some top shelfff fire (california grown)might be more pricey,but its sure as hell worth it.Lately it has been very hard to cross marijuana from mexico to the US. Not like a couple years ago when some one could just tape it in their inner thighs and abdomen and cross to the US to flip the prof. This has really affected Mexicos income, so if you were to go to TJ at this time you can find 10$ oz-fuckin' insaaaane(of bunk if i may remind you)

You can have up to 5g of weed now legally in mexico. Also 3-5g of other drugs as well.
Dont think you will be able to slip any border agents money like some people suggested in this thread. The cops there sometimes yah.. border agent think again. I used to live in El Paso TX right across the border and hung out in Juarez alot.
Not a good place anymore since all those mexis are fighting for control of the border. Murder capital of the world.
