BioCanna - Trainwreck & White Rhino (GHS) - 600W HPS - 12 Plants @ 3 USG Pots

Hi Diesel;

As always - Thanks a bunch for taking the time reading through my posts and questions. Actually, I am using the Bio Canna Professional Plus - Sorry for not having been clearer before...

Plants just woke up and are looking better and better now.... It is finally a blast again to check on the plants and watch them grow, pretty much by the hour... :thumbsup:

Growth has improved dramatically and the first plant has reached 40cm. However, I can pretty much see defficiencies all over the plants. Next watering I will increase to Canna full strength, for sure.

Well, I simply didn't know how to handle this soil properly when I first started. So, it's been great to have found you on here. Truly appreciating all of your input! Thanks bro!

The humidifier is working very well, though it's being exchanged for a stronger 20L/day model, as humidity is kinda high (60's) during the light off cycle.

I do not rotate the plants - The smallest have the prime spots. I tried to avoid hot spots by using the Adjust-A-Wing Reflector with the Spreader, which really seems to work very well.

Lastly, the containers are starting to get lighter again. I think that they'll be ready for the next watering in about 48 hours - Oh, and I water them right after the light came on... At least one thing I seem to have remembered correctly...... :jointsmile:

Alright - Another day, another update.... :)

Sadly, I see that the droopy leaves are returning. There are 4-5 Plants showing these symptoms after abot 14 hours of light. Also, I can clearly see that the plants are starving for some nutes...

Now, the pots are still very heavy from the last watering and I assume it would take another 2-3 days before they are adequately dry.

So, the big question is what can I do???? Let them starve for another few days, or simply add more water to the heavy pots??? Also, in order to combat the defficiencies would it be okay to increase the nutes to 125-150%????

Sounds like the plants are thirsty for water and nutes, but you say that the pots are still quite heavy? Mmm. Have you added anything to the soil? Perlite etc? When you repotted, did you compress the soil at all?

Do you have anything in the bottom of the pots to assist drainage? If not, when you water place the pots on a bathroom towel for 10 minutes or so, this will assist in drawing off any excess water. Another tactic may be to drill a few more holes in the bottom of the pots.

I wouldn't increase the nutes more than the recommended quantities just yet - let them get used to full strength first.

Maybe just give them a cup of water each to see if the roots near the surface drink and help relieve the droopiness.

In a way, good to see that I am not the only one baffled by whats going on. And, at the same time its sad, because I had really hoped that you could point me in the right direction.

Now, let's answer your questions... The soil is wet throughout - I even have one of those digital meters to check temp, ph, wetness, etc... Roots are looking very healthy - I can even sometimes see them growing on the surface...

I compressed the soil ever so slightly when I re-potted the plants. However, that was really more aiding the soil where it needed to go....

In regards to the drainage... My pots have huge drainage holes. In fact, they are so large that hydroton, etc... will fall through them. As such, I decided to use these polystyrene flakes that they use for packaging...

I know that there is an element which regulates the pressure within the plant. I would think that a defficiency would result in droopy leaves... Question now is how to get nutes into the plants, quickly....?

On a side note - I just decided to take some clones from all plants. At least this way I saved the genetics. :)

Alright - Another quick update.... The tallest two plants (both Trainwrecks) have reached 41cm in heigth. The two smallest plants (both White Rhino) are approx. 28cm. The pots are getting noticeably lighter and I think I'll give them another watering tomorrow with full strength Bio Canna Vega nutes.

Now, even though I hate having to switch to 12/12 with some problems still existing (and especially unsolved/unknown), I believe I have no choice but to make this the last day of 18/6 and flip 'em to 12/12 tomorrow.

What kinda helps put my mind at ease is that they'll receive full strength nutes tomorrow and hopfelly this will also help with the droopy leave syndrom a bit, until they have recovered. Afterall - Plants do look fine for 12 hours of light.

Personally, even though I don't really have a clue what I am doing here and/or what's going wrong - I am starting to have a strong feeling about this being an issue with the starving and not having enough nutes available.

Your'e very welcome. Overall, I would say that your plants are doing better now. Flippin the lights may be just what's needed.

Sorry haven't managed to do any research - I'm in a bit of a pickle and tryin to find a solution: I'm moving house on Thusday, and have no idea how to move my ladies without detection? I was planning to place a big black refuse bag over the top of each plant, and seal it round the pot with tape. I don't have transport - the guy that's moving my shit is my mom's cousin, so I can't use him for the girls. If my mom found out about my little side enterprise she would throw a coronary, and beat me to death with a rose branch lol. Any ideas?

If you have any concerns, I would fill out the troubleshooting form in the plant problems section. You can get some different opinions, and usually one of the experts will show up and guide you a little better. I had the Trainwreck from Greenhouse and I remember mine was noticeably larger. Better to fix any problems before you switch the lights.:thumbsup:

Bro - That is friggin funny as fuck, becuase I just found out to have the same damn problem. I need to move my plants some time next week! Can't believe this is happening to both of us.
I am kinda desperately looking for a solution myself, though I have the advantage of no parents, etc.... The only thing I know for now is that I'll use a friend who operates a cab company to move 'em for me. Packaging 'em up will indeed be the problem. It'll very much depend on their size - If at all possible I'll pack 'em up in individual boxes and put a bunch of stretch foil around it - Possibly with UPS stickers... (hehe)

If you want the best possible protection I would get some carboard, possible cut it just to the way you need it, wrap the pot in a bag of some sort (keeping the soil where it should be) and use stretch foil to make it look all tidy and clean. (If you decide to use stretchfoil get on of those roll-off thingies with it, because its a total pain without one...)

How big are your plants by now? And... I've been meaning to tell you this all along, but the very best smoke I ever had in my life was some White Russian @ Ricks Coffeeshop in Amsterdam - Absolutely fantastic high!!! :thumbsup:

I really wanted to get these seeds myself at first, but then fell for this GHS feminized crap.... Oh well.... Next time around it'll most likely be some WR... :thumbsup:

Well, as the plants were getting too tall for my likings I decided to cut yesterdays day short and switched to 12/12. Thus, we are currently on day 2 of the flowering stage.

The pots had reached an ideal weight and were watered with about 2.5 liters per pot. The nutritient solution was mixed up as directions found on:

BIOCANNA :: The Bio Solution for growth and bloom :: About production proccess

The online guide shows three different feeding regiments, which go to about 150% of the recommended dosage, per bottle instructions. I was very much tempted to give them the full 150% (heavy feeding), but rather decided to go with 125% (normal feeding).

Effectively, I mixed up 2.5ml/L of BioCanna Vega an 1.5ml/L of Canna Rhizotonic.

Now, I am really hoping that the plants will like it and finally get rid of these damn signs of under- fertilization....! Will update again tomorrow... :)

Thanks for the info - yea it's gonna be a bitch getting them moved. They are waist height from the ground, and only have around 15 - 20 days to harvest. I topped them all so they have spread like butter on bread. 10 - 12 colas each. I don't want to harvest too soon, but I may have to, as I have 22 of the little darlings. Had a sample last Sunday - boy was I wrecked. Fuck-me-happy, some of the best I have had. Smooth as silk. Lotsa giggles and the munchies - haven't had that since I was a teenager in South Africa. When I open my grow room door it looks like cola heaven lol. Have been setting up the new grow room at the new house, it's a lot smaller, so I'm thinkig of doing SOG next. We'll see. Might even do a grow log on here...

How much longer do you plan on feeding the vegga nutes? I flip, feed them vegga, then switch to 1/2 flores next feed. They love it. Increase to full flores inside a week, and double boost within 2 weeks. Looking forward to seeing your next pics.

I have a sneeky suspicion that your nute issues are a thing of the past.
