Do you suppose that if we had a real leader at the time as opposed to him, that despite the fact we may have gotten involved in a conflict, it may have prevented 9/11, the Iraq War, the War in Afghanistan?
This is all hypothetical of course. Just something to ponder.
What would happen if Obama were president?
Diplomacy for 4 years? Maybe 8?
Then what?
Another conflict, maybe really brutal, long, drawn out conflict? Maybe something that would make what is going on now look like a boy scout camp out. This time maybe with Iran, or N. Korea, or Venezuela, or China, or All of Them at the same time?
I bet they would all love nothing more than 8 years of American diplomacy, plenty of time to figure out a new wonderful way to destroy us.
Just a thought.
Bush was president for almost 9 months before 9/11 and he sure dropped the ball.

Tenet and his loyalists also settle a few scores with the White House here. The book's opening anecdote tells of an unnamed CIA briefer who flew to Bush's Texas ranch during the scary summer of 2001, amid a flurry of reports of a pending al-Qaeda attack, to call the president's attention personally to the now-famous Aug. 6, 2001, memo titled "Bin Ladin Determined to Strike in US." Bush reportedly heard the briefer out and replied: "All right. You've covered your ass, now."
