Episode 4: The Clone Colonies
hey stealth... I took 20 clones at about 2-3 week flowering off my outdoors and they rooted within 8 days and showed new growth in a week 1/2.. the pistils never died and the new nodes had calyxes so Im not sure if that is what your referring too, but once flipped to flower, they had heavy new pistils in 4 days
Episode 4: The Clone Colonies
Hatch...Green...thanks guys! I think what you are explaining is what I got. The new growth does have pistils, but they are real thin...should I pull them all off the moms? Or will they eventually stop throwing pistils? Thought I pulled the majority off when I took the clones...
Doesn't seem to be affecting them, all of the clones are growing super fast and healthy. Ill take some pics of the mums and the ones sent to flower today...

Why Would You Want To Pull Them Off????
Ounce a Plant Get To A Certain Stage In Life It Will Alway's Show It's Sex,,,I Can See Maybe Topping Or Fim'n,,,Otherwise,,,Just Watch Her Go!!!
When I Clone, I Will Clean Up Just What Is Going In The Basket,,& I Leave Everything Above,,,Then After About 5 To 6 Day's When They Have Rooted Well,,I May Trim Some Of The Bigger Leaves That Have Yellowed,,Or Top Them If They Are Going To Be Donor Clones (mom),,,But Other Then That, Just Watch Them Grow!!:rasta: :rasta: :rasta:
Episode 4: The Clone Colonies
I was only talking about pulling the pistils off the donor clones, (new mums). Not the ones that are going to flower...But if the few thin pistils the mums are throwing are not effecting anything, Ill leave em. I just didnt get how after taking the clones at 10 days, and they barely had any pistils...after growing on 24/0 for 3 weeks, Obviously growing veg again, lol...you should've seen how tiny the clones where, that they are making NEW pistils still....In veg stage...hadn't ever taken clones in flower before, so that was news to me...thanks for letting me know I didnt need to freak out hatch, lol...

Hello SnS.....I've been lurking here admiring all your great work on this grow and on Episode 3 and have some thoughts on your fungus gnat problem. I've used in the past Knock-Out Gnats from [url=http://www.gardensalive.com]"Environmentally Responsible Gardening Products that Work". You have to use it at least 3 weeks in a row....I've used 4 weeks in a row just to be sure, They also sell a spray called Pyola Insect spray that might be worth a try. Here are the directions from the website:
Stops fungus gnats that attack your houseplants and greenhouse plants
Only from Gardens Alive! This strain of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bti) provides very effective fungus gnat control for houseplant growers and home greenhouses. Populations of fungus gnats (often called "fruit flies") usually peak during winter and spring. The tiny adult insects lay their eggs in peat moss, humus-rich organic soil and potting media. The larvae then feed on plant roots, including those of young seedlings. Infested plants wilt, roots rot and the plants may eventually die.
With Knock-Out Gnats, however, the larvae ingest the larvicide and die! Use as a soil drench, 2-8 tsp. per gallon of water. Make three weekly applications to control successive generations. You can monitor effectiveness of Knock-Out Gnats with sticky traps.
Good luck with your problem. You've done some amazing work so far and I'm looking forward to seeing more..... :hippy: Indoorgirl

Episode 4: The Clone Colonies
I took a lone clone of a flowering plant in my last grow and found it to root very quickly but like you said it kept producing pistils but eventually it bounced back into veg mode. then it died due to my neglect dun dun duuuuuuuuun. but I learned something in the process, cloning flowering plants is possible but I'll try to make that decision to clone or not to clone next time before the onset of flowering. But knowin me I'll be doing it again...lol...
