I am confused how he can still say that he was right.
He never specifically said that he was right, and he did say the surge has been successful. He was saying that his recent criticism of it stemmed from the fact that the Iraqi government hasn't stepped up. Also, he said that he initially didn't support the surge because of the mismanagement of the war prior to that, but that the generals had really improved the way the war was being handled in recent months.
Still, the surge stabilized Iraq at the expense of destabilizing Afghanistan, which is where the Taliban actually is.

That's true, but I rather us not make the same mistake we made in afghanistan by leaving a job half done as it is. You know? If we're going to do something I'd rather we do it right. I'm still pissed that we ever left Afghanistan.

Yeah, but those troops for the surge had to come from somewhere; the unfortunate thing is that a lot of them came from Afghanistan, and now the situation is worse there. We had a lot more foreign assistance in Afghanistan, which is perhaps why we thought we could afford to pull some troops out. But with the US's current international image, I don't think anyone's looking to do us any favors.
This all makes Bill O'Reilly's insistence that Obama admit he was wrong to not support the surge seem kind of silly.

I can't believe I have the O'Reilly Factor scheduled on my DVR. It never would have occurred to me that this would even be possible. I want to see the other 3 parts of the interview enough that I have actually set up to record a show I cannot stand.
The first one was pretty good. The one I definitely do not want to miss is on Tuesday, and it deals with all the crazy people Obama supposedly associates with --- Wright, Ayers, Retzko, et al. That should be good.
I think it enhances Obama's credibilty significantly that he is not afraid to be interviewed by supposedly "hostile" interviewers. (It's not bad for O'Reilly's credibility either.)

Apparently responding to criticism about liberal political bias, MSNBC has removed its two political hot-potato co-anchors, Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, from the network's election coverage.

O'Reilly Headlines Fox News' Big January Ratings Win
I think that O'Reilly is holding his own against the media's favorite left wingers such as the two that were just demoted. As for Obama, he uses FOX news when in a pinch. They can't debate on FOX but when the polls say that they're in trouble they're more than happy to appear; Like when he was on Fox News Sunday.
His first day just happened to be on the night McCain was to make his speech. Trying to steel the thunder but according to recent polls it didn't work out that way. Lets see what shift they take after the 4 part interview is over with. Hell, he might even of been the cause of McCain having the largest viewing audience out of all the candidates. BACKFIRE!!
Ya know, I watch Hannity, O'Reilly, Olberman, etc. to try to get a balanced view, or maybe different perspectives. Hannity, far right....Olberman, far left; you know who these people are voting for. With O'Reilly, I've seen him come to the defense of Obama against the right on his show more than once. He's as much of a fan of the right wing as McCain; somebody that might swing to the right on issues but sure is a pain in the ass!
Nice to hear that your giving your DVR a break though....like they say, "treat your equipment well and it will treat you well.".
Oh yeah, I'll be posting up the interview via You-Tube as soon as it's posted and I get a chance.
Have a good one!:s4:

Obama To Appear On O'Reilly Factor
I had this funny moment when I was watching this interview on the O'Reilly Factor last week.
I was watching the show live, and then there was this knock on the door. I paused the show to get the door, and it paused on this really tight shot of O'Reilly, with his head HUGE on the bigscreen. I was actually opening the door when all of a sudden I thought, "Holy crap! What if it's one of my in-laws from down the street!" They are hard-core Dems, very active in the party. I know they have always suspected me of being a closet conservative, because I have an open mind and am willing to give conservatives their points when I do agree. Man, if they found out I was watching The O'Reilly Factor, they would probably freak out and never trust me again! Anyway, it was just some guy trying to sell a roofing service --- lucky for me.

What difference would it make which way you lean? The way I see it my if someone doesn't like my perspective in politics... well that's their problem not mine. I will try to explain my point of view to them but I don't ever worry if someone thinks I'm conservative or liberal.. annoyed sure, but care... not at all.
I have no shame in my beliefs.

I don't think the timing of the airing of the interview was Obama's choice or an attempt to "steel the thunder." That was up to the show. It was actually taped on a different day, wasn't it?

I almost always watch CNN, which I do not think is very biased. But someone mentioned how funny it was to flip between FOX and MSNBC for the conventions, so I started doing that. It is surprisiong how biased they both are. CNN had pretty much neutral reporters running their coverage, with biased pundits from both sides and even campaign people from both sides there in a secondary role for biased analysis. It seemd pretty balanced. But both FOX and MSNBC had their coverage HEADED UP by their opinion people. They had analysts from both sides, but the lead anchors for the convention shows were people who run their own biased opinion shows, not even pretending to be neutral reporters. I thought that was wierd.

LMFAO!!
How many times have I told you "better be careful, they are going to kick you out of the club!" Things like having an "open mind" and ever, ever, agreeing with anything a conservative may say ARE NOT TOLERATED BY REAL DEMOCRATS!!! I keep telling you, they are gonna find out, you will be the next Lieberman!:D (Just wait till you go to vote and Obama's wife is standing there at your voting booth, tapping her feet with her arms crossed, eyeballing you!)
I can picture your face 2 steps from the door when you realize "holy shit!"
P.S.
You know how I can tell you are a closet conservative?:D
