So i came home from work today and noticed that the perlite that I have layering the top of the soil looks like its turning yellowish. Is this normal? Maybe its from the nutes?
I liked the nice clean-white finish it had :(

you're doing well, stay on top of it ... lay off the nutes for a few days, when you transplant, and don't water as much ... that will encourage the roots to seek out moisture and food, (plus, some nutrients slow rooting, in favor of other needs) ... looks like you keep a nice clean area, too (not like my usual mess) jealousy :D
thx man - yeah i think i jumped the gun a bit on the nutes but i only gave them 1/2 tsp to the gallon and I used half a gallon for 4 plants. Here's a couple pictures :D
PS. Thanks for understanding the rep situation
Pic 1) Some kush I picked up last night
2) My normal after work routine :)
3) Updated pic of plant after transplant.. looks the same
4) Perlite discoloration?
It's getting stained from the soil. It's common for perlite to turn yellow, orange, or brown. :thumbsup:Quote:

Perlite can get algae on it too but that's also nothing to really worry about. Your plants look great. Transplanting may be a pain, but you get enough benefits from 'refreshing' the soil every month or 2 to make it totally worthwhile- read the thread in the FAQs for more info.
Daihashi, you made my sig. lol. Attorney worth his weight in gold. heh heh.
Is it a bad idea to wait for the plant to show me that it needs water before I actually water it? I plan on giving it just water with no nutes for the next 2 times, and then starting again with the GrowBig.
Got a quick update for anyone who cares
I've got 3 healthy plants, and 1 thats got yellowing on the bottom leaves.. but other than that its healthy. The upper leaves on the plant are fine, but the lower ones are yellowing and kinda crispy feeling. I gave them just water since the last post, I think I've watered twice. Do you guys think its time to throw in some nutes? I have GrowBig.
Here's some pics.
No give the plants at least 3-4 weeks or until alternating nodes appear. Which ever happens first
hmmm well in that case maybe I would just wait till flower to give them nutes.. I want to keep them short so I was going to flower as early as possible.
