Iraq War: Was it worth it?
I am with Ron Paul on foreign alliances.
We should have trade but not entangling alliances.
This war was fought for oil, When they started it they called it
Operation Iraqi Liberation (OIL)
we were taken to war by a DICK, a BUSH, and a COLON!
With names like that they shouldn't have nbeen hunting weapons of mass destruction, they should've been hunting weapons of massturbation! Dick Cheney is the "mastermind" behind 911, they orchestrated 911 so they would have a reason to invade Iraq. George W and his pal Rumsfeld are co-conspirators. hell every member of the "Project for a New American Century" should be charged with TREASON and MURDER!!! IMHO
We go to war for oil and what do we get? $5 a gallon gas and deeper in debt.
WE DON"T NEED OIL!!!
I have been running my car on water for 2 years (til the tranny died)
we could all be driving with water fuel if the oil companies were not so powerful.
I say let's all vote for Ron Paul!!!!
Rev. Roland A. Duby
Brothers For Mercy
Iraq War: Was it worth it?
I voted no.. but if the wars end up bankrupting the government and fostering a little "regime change" at home from the fallout, I'd think about changing my vote to yes. What we get will likely be as corrupt as what we have, but it should at least get rid of some of the "dead wood".. like most of the Federal government.
Aww hell, why not. I'll change my vote right now to yes, if I can.. I'll support any war I don't have to fight. Blood makes the grass grow.
Iraq War: Was it worth it?
There are wars worth fighting......this was NOT one of them. It was a tragedy from day one. Apart from the tremendous loss of life when you include Iraqi lives....YES THEY DO COUNT, this effort has gone a long way towards further destabalizing an already unstable part of the world. Bush was dishonest to us and maybe himself about why we went it there in the first place. I feel for our troops and the families of those who go over there to serve.....I just wish it weren't for nothing. Thanks Mr. Bush for being the WORST president of at least my lifetime.....the sad thing to think about is the fact that he was elected.....TWICE!!!
Iraq War: Was it worth it?
The Iraq War is a $3,000,000,000,000 USD failure. Whoever thinks that their tax money was well spend must be blind and deaf. I would hate to be paying taxes knowing it's all going to waste, when America is already filled with enough domestic problems that haven't even begun to be solved.

What about all of the US taxpayer money that is going to feed, clothe, house, take care of medical needs, and social security of
13 million illegals in the US??
How much of our taxes are going to support them??

-We made the region MORE secure by sending the trash to Allah
-We've gained respect with the people of that region by NOT running out on an obligation...cut an run would be considered a loss
-We've have been rebuilding a failing infrastructure left by a tyrant and expanding it's benifits to ALL Iraqis instead of a "special sector" therefore creating a new allie in the region
I honestly believe that he feels that he has done the right thing on this one.
Various reports stated that Saddam had WMDs...now I know that the usual place for a country to hide nuclear secrets is under a rose bush but hey, no excuses right? There were also reports of WMDs crossing the border into Syria. Like the 9-11 people would state, "PROVE that he didn't move the material". Also, security reports from Russia stated that Saddam had planned on hitting us like 9-11 not to mention the assassination attempt on Bush Sr. .
Another good reason considering that the Kurds/Shi-ites were being killed off for sport
ONLY if your Canadian.....
We showed the region exactly what we could do in little time...with these people we gained respect.
ONLY in the minds of the blind Prison Planet followers.
Pull out and let Iraq turn into a hell hole; we'll just be back in cleaning out the same areas with a higher risk to our troops. Once ya get into a big job it's easy to walk away...alot harder to finish it correctly.
IF the Iraqi government desires for us to have a base there, fine...if not, that's fine too. How many years have we been in Japan, Germany, etc.....?
DEFINATELY wait untill the Iraqi government and it's forces can stand on their own. Instead of millions in the region stating, "I told ya so, they'd run out on ya!", we'll gain all that much more respect across the entire region.
Have a good one!:s4:
I had no Idea that you were this delusional. You are guzzling the koolaid my brother. Step outside the box, take off those rose colored glasses, watch something besides Faux Noise, and live a little. BTW are we rich yet. I'm thinking I'll be lucky to get my original investment back. Are you a golf buddie of Cheneys, what's he shoot anyway? I've got it. you own Haliburton stock, damn, I wish I'd of thought of that. Anyway, piece and luck to ya. Hopefully Obama can straighten this crap out.

LOL, Obama can't roll a bowling ball straight... much less straighten out the problems of an ailing America. No experience, no original ideas, no accomplishments to his credit. He's a good speaker, that's it. Saddam was a good speaker, but he was also a power hungry and bigoted twat.
Even IF Obama squeezes his way into the WH, he's not going to be allowed to cut & run as expediently as he thinks he will. This war is going to continue for a while yet, even if a Democrat happens to make the final cut.
Iraq War: Was it worth it?
Get over it, whats done is done. Ill expect you to figure out ways to pin this on Bush once he is out of the White House, after all he is so sneaky we must try and stop him from carrying out such an evil plan:stoned:
If you must punish I say the question was loaded and bound to cause problems. Isnt it just as bad to start the war, no pun intended

But at this point what do you think?
If you vote in the poll, please post something about why you think what you do. Something like this:
I don't think the war was worth it.
This is what it cost:
- 4,000 Americans dead
- 30,000 Americans wounded
- 80,000 to 150,000 or more Iraqi's dead
- Uncounted Iraqi's wounded
- Millions of Iraqi refugees
- $600 billion to US taxpayers for the direct war costs, plus whatever the economic cost of damage to our economy, high price of gas, damage to Iraqi infrastructure. Estimates of total direct costs before the end are between 1.2 trillion and 2.7 trillion, depending on how long it goes and eventual outcome. Estimates of direct and indirect costs together are about 3 trillion.
- Loss of credibility, respect and standing in the world
- Alienation of allies
- Internal division within our own country
- Increase in number of terrorists worldwide due to hatred and resentment over the war
- Creation of Al Qaeda in Iraq
- Ongoing instability in Iraq
- Increased instability in greater Middle East
- Exhaustion and depletion of our military, meaning decreased readiness for other threats
Here is what it got us:
- Got rid of Saddam Hussein
I don't think it was a fair trade. If we knew five years ago that this is what we would get and how much it would cost, I doubt we would have gone in.
Because of political reasons, Bush can never admit that this fiasco was a horrible mistake and not worth it, but sometimes I wonder what he REALLY thinks. Does he honestly think it was worth it like he tells us? Or does he personally regret it, but have no way to say so?
In addition to this question of whether it was worth it, there are the millions of questions of WHY exactly are we there at all. Was it really WMD? Was it security? Was it to free the Iraqis? Was it oil? Was it to scare the Saudis into line? Is it part of a broader secret plan to dominate the region? Was it personal between Bush and Saddam? Was it a Neo-Con fantasy? And there are the questions of what should we do now. Should we continue the "surge?" Should we fully pull out immediately? Should we stay 100 years? Should we begin a phased withdrawal? Should we wait until the Iraqi government steps up and can stand on its own?
Those are interesting questions, but they have been well covered in a lot of different threads (and someone could certainly start one specifically devoted to those questions if they wanted to), but the purpose of this thread is to ask "was it worth it?" without getting into why we are there and what we do now.
So, was it worth it?
Was it fuck worth it..
It aint done shit apart from KILLING THOUSANDS of INNOCENT PEOPLE ...
Fuck bush and fuck the war...
