How do you meet fellow growers?

I'd rather not roll the dice when it comes to possible imprisonment.

I'm not sure I understood this post. Half of it seems like it's saying to take risks/chances and the other half seems like it's saying to be wary/think of everyone as a cop.

Right now I view everyone as a cop except 2 of my friends who I've known for the past 15 years or longer. They have keys to my place and are do not smoke (they take care of my pets sometimes when I'm away).

I just really want to know how to run into other growers :(. Or how to pick up that someone is growing when I'm out with the few smoking friends I do have and there's cannabis related talk going around.

:( I want a local grower friend.

i got grower in my class so me and him just talk instead of listening to the professer

well you simply cant do it without taking some form of risk dude. so u either gotta throw the dice and win or loose or not take the chance and stay safer im sayin that you are taking chances by doing this so be aware and be carefull you cant just blindly jump off a cliff and hope it turns out ok see what im saying now? lol probably not ive never been that good at explaining myself lol

I opened up to an old co-worker (I left on great terms and they didn't have a real drug policy.) Turns out he knows someone else who grows that I also happen to know. He's going to drop my name. Hopefully I get a new buddy!!!

I have two friends that are outdoor guerilla/commercial growers. They have been at it for years (just as I've been a personal grower for years). I know them from regular social contact, we all party, go to bars, ride motorcycles. Probably a little less now than in the day. I've not talked much about these things as I always see them with groups of people. People, me included don't like to talk any detail about our grows. I don't really want to know anyone's grows. I do have a family member who has harvested a few plants and is now getting into some indoor activity starting seeds for outdoor grows. I'm happy to suggest to him things I may know.

Bottom line, if you want to meet people in your area to talk about medical MJ or whatever, check out your states forum here at cannabis.com. But really, it's rare at least in my rural area to meet and discuss growing weed.

here in northern California, virtually every garden store/nursery I've patronized seems to be staffed by fellow growers ... after mentioning I have a Med. MJ recommendation, and I grow my own, they almost immediately reply, 'me, too'. and the growing discussion begins :D ... loosen up, "paranoia will destroy ya" ... admittedly, I would not be so cavalier about it, IF I had a BIG garden in progress, but, I follow the rules, and keep my plant-count well within legal limits, and only for personal use ... had a very nice compliment from County Sheriff's deputy, checking my count, when he said I had most potent-looking plants he'd ever seen and smelled .... awwwww :jointsmile:

My advice on finding local growers:

Its not a good thing to tell anyone your growing....i know...... my best friend....my girlfriend.....my cousin......NO ONE.....i live in a city that has a lot of growers......through the last 17 yrs.....ive tried to grow 5 times with no success.....even though i have tons of friends with consistant perpetual grows.....the reason i tell no one....so no one jacks my sh*t....for real....

ive heard of people going as far as putting a GPS device on another growers car....to find out where his operations are at......In the past...ive as for clones.....but tell them there for a friend.....one time i tried a large commercial grow....to only get ratted out to the police by my girlfriend of 3 years...because she thought i had the house to cheat on her with......when i told her the truth.....she call the police...lucky i left at 3 in the morning to rip it down..by the time the cop raid the place 2 days later....nothing but an empty apt...probably would of gone to jail anyway the way i set this room up...

This is just a word of advice....take it like a grain of salt if you want....but i know the greed of people.

No worries, wasn't trying to start any arguments. I'm just a bit too observant of things for my own good, and it makes me question the hell out of everything.

Anyways, as for trying to meet other growers... I dont know of any in my area, but when I lived on Oahu some people seemed more relaxed to talk about it. When I did my growing, several people knew about it, one of which was growing too. We'd help each other out and talk about growing all the time... he'd tell me about others he knew that grew, a friend's dad was a cop that was growing too lol. I'd hear about stories of cops finding people's grows, taking the plants, and running off with them.

If I grow again where I live now, it's gonna be difficult to keep my mouth shut, I already know of one friend that will find out about it... and she's tried growing some too, she even offered to let me help set up some stuff in her place so she could grow better.

Might be best to just say I've got a connection in Hawaii that I get the bud from. It's just too much work to risk it all. I'm not ready to fight to the death yet...

Well, i know 3 friends who are currently growing, and several who have grown in the past but are currently on hiatus. All but one person was met through a dealer/friend of mine. The other was a long time acquaintance who kinda grows half-heartedly...he gave me some white rhino clones, so i thank him for that, but his advice is rarely sought out.

One of the current growers is my "mentor" and a fellow member of this fine community. He actually got me up and running by sharing some of his AMAZING genetics with me (man that sounds really gay) and i wouldn't be blazing the best i've ever had without him. He also got another one of my friends up and running, he is a saint.

They are all great dudes and we all get together semi regularly and as much as i love this community, nothing compares to discussions in person, in front of the plants, getting lit and knowing that life is really good.

So yeah, friends of friends...looking to help each other out. I've made so many close friends because of cannabis. I wish everyone in the world could see how wonderful this plant is and see it's potential. I can't stand how people who have no experience with it deem it so evil. It's done nothing but good for me in my life. It's actually one of the ways i met my wonderful wife!

Talk about dumb--dah that's me; I met a MMJ grower a few months ago on CL and didn't even realize what I had! He got me onto MMJ. But, he grows outside and until I get good fencing, etc. that will keep the bunnies out, it is indoors 4 me! He is strictly outdoor guy and when he was stoned, that was all he could talk about, but I was too and can't remember crap! If I get another chance, I'll smoke less and listen better! The gro logs, soil mixtures and feeding that are mentioned, takes a lot of time to put into one thing to use, but worth it! There is so much information here, I could spend the rest of my life and never read them all. If mods put in addy's, it would be a problem, people would join to meet u and take your crop. And it sounds like some are really hard to gro! If something can be abused, someone is gonna do it! Despite how well you think you know someone, I am not sure you ever really do! Image Reaper seems to have a healthy approach to it, I'll try that also! Being open and honest has its' rewards!:thumbsup:
